I really want Pitta to be cut soon and designated a Post June 1st. I think Webb, Arrington and Pitta are the 3 most important cuts for us to make ASAP.

if he's going to be a post june 1st cut it has to wait til thursday i think

Expected, so that's Elam- Lewis and Wright so far. I would say Powers and Arrington are gone as well. The Ravens have the 4 they want in Weddle, Webb, Smith and Young. They need to put a support group in place.

This move was a longtime coming. It shows that maybe giving a younger player a shot is worth the risk. I would have like to see Webb added to that list.

There is a deep class of CB and safeties so no need to keep overpaid, unproductive vets.

It's a start... I just hope Ozzie has a plan... if not this season's 8-8 record will seem like the good old days.

That could come the day we sign Jefferson

Well i've heard the potential salary for Jefferson is about 7-8M/a year... I think he's worth it unless we plan on landing a safety in the draft that is plug and play.

Jefferson is totally worth it and he's only 25

But he plays the exact same way as weddle - so we'd be playing two guys with not that much range and we'd be paying them a lot of money - I don't know what this infatuation with Jefferson is on some parts of these boards - he's an above average box safety and that's about it

Weddle is a due it all safety.  He can play free safety as well as strong safety.  He takes great angles to the ball and ball carrier.  If we sign Jefferson, we would most likely waive Webb, move Weddle to Free Safety and have Jefferson as strong safety.

not sure we go that route, but I'm a big Jefferson fan

Besides Weddle, who isn't that great but solid, we just can't judge the safety position- same things is true with TEs as of late. Maybe we need to let someone else draft/ decide which FAs to pick up in these positions

Now we have to cut Pitta, let Juice walk, and then Flacco will be on his own- that might be scary... in a bad way... While I like Torrey, it doesnt make sense to bring him back with Perriman and Wallace on the team. Perriman wont amount to much this season either but still...All i know, like i said last year, we aint making the playoffs this year either. We had an easy schedule last year- thats why our defense was ranked high- it was all a lie

Eric weddle played at an all pro level last year even if it wasn't recognised - he's way more than solid - he solidified an entire unit by being excellent and a leader - I don't think there's any doubt that he was a phenomenal signing

notice how all the teams with the most cap space are perennial losers and the teams who annually spend the most in free agency are perennially mediocre - overpaying doesn't pay

right player-right price and Jefferson would not fit that bill - we'd be dumping Webb for a guy who we would be paying similarly when Webb played pretty well last year for his first season at safety

About a year too late there with Wright! LOL.....jeez
Next up:
Pitta
Arrington
Watson
Zuttah
Doom
Webb

Try to restructure Joe

Sign: Brandon Marshall

Seriously look into trying to sign Mangold. I don't see why he wouldn't be healthy by next year. However, considering his price, age, and this draft...the draft might be a better place to go for Center. Especially cuz we really a better than average one for years to come. Considering our qb and the way offense works ( or doesn't :) LOL ), I think having an excellent Center in necessary for both the pass and run game for us. So between our 3 picks in the second and the third, I think it would be wise to use one on a Center.

That way after all those cut we can sign 2 playmakers on both sides of of the pass game. Something we desperately need.
Brandon Marshall. Great fit in so many ways
And how about Tony Jefferson. That bumps Weddle to FS which is perfect
Weddle+Jefferson+Jimmy+Tavon+1rst round corner= top 5 secondary
Still 1000% in on Sidney Jones. He's going to be a top 10 corner from day 1 for 10 years
Then we could go lineman and pass rushers in the 2nd and 3rd.

Separate though, I'm pretty sure most people involved with the Ravens aren't thinking at all about trying to sign this guy...But. If we make all these cuts, and Sign Marshall. We'll have a bit more money. And this literally might be the best secondary draft ever. So we could hit that hard the first couple rounds and fill that needs for years to come without reaching, then sign this big guy. One of my favorite players. Calais Campbell. Makes too much sense for so many reasons to me I'd love to explain if any are interested on the thought.
It's all starting!

We cut 2 terrible players to clear about 5 mil in cap.
Then we sign a rb for 2 mil that should not be higher than our 3rd back. Even AP is only rumored to get around 4 a year.
And we tendered Huff at 1.8 mil?? Yeah Huff, I know, who is that?
The FO is at it again

I'll ease up on the negativity for a bit......but just a weird way to start things off to say the least. Make or break offseason for the organization. Let's Go!!!!!!!!!

That was one thing, And it was bad, but the fact that Harbaugh kept playing him and relying on him was beyond baffling. This is the most insane corner draft of all time. We cannot miss at 16. At least 5 corners to seriously consider at 16 alone

I see you are a weedle fan but just to clear it up he's average and on the down side of his career If he could have tackled A brown we would have beat the steelers and the guy gets beat deep a lot because he plays out of position and doesn't have the speed to recover

How do you know what perriman is going to do? give the guy a chance he's only played 1 year I will bet you he will have a lot better year this year than last you do realize that coaches have to use the players enough and correctly to get the most out of them

At this rate, the only "splash" signing the FO will be able to make in free agency would be a Mangold.  I sure hope they have an extension for Wallace in the works.

Should really cut Zuttah, Arrington, Watson, and cut the salary or outright cut Pitta and Webb.  Might be enough to nab Marshall (assuming he even wants to come here) and maybe another CB.

To be clear, Weddle missed THREE tackles ALL year. He was graded as the 10th BEST player in the ENTIRE nfl and the BEST safety in the league.

http://www.baltimorebeatdown.com/2017/2/10/14559076/pff-ranks-two-ravens-among-the-top-10-players-of-2016

He got beat over the top ONE TIME (link below)

It seems that these two plays (A Brown stop, C Hogan bomb) have become so prominent in your mind that you have extrapolated them across the entire season.

Gotta sign Marshall. That is a splash signing

What are you talking about? Weddle had a fantastic season and was ranked as the #1 safety in the entire league by pff.
