[News] Late For Work 3/7: Torrey Smith Cut By 49ers. Ravens Reunion Up Next?

If the Ravens Sign Torry and thats there answer of a vet receiver with some juice left, well the Harbs Ozzie and Flacco your tenure is over with the Ravens and house cleaning begins. Flacco has cost us KO, and now Williams. Its time someone lites a fir under Flacco's butt.

There is no reason to bring back Torry Smith. We need to get better no regress, Torry Smith would be regressing.

Maybe another team would suit your taste better.

I'm the last person to take up for Flacco but I think it is more a factor of a line of bad contracts and bad luck. This year will still see Monroe taking 4.4 million in dead money. I would rathet pay Flacco 24 million to start 16+ games this season than pay Monroe 4.4 million to sit on the couch. Past few years have been plagued by dead money from Pitta, Rice, Monroe, Ngata, ect.

having Torry back would be similar to Wallace in speed but Wallace is a much better all around player then Torry. And a much better stiff arm. Torry wont come cheap enough to replace Wallace.

B.marshall is probably the best option for the Ravens for 2017, Garçon may be the best fit for this offense for the next 3 years, Prior may have the most potential but Id still want Torrey back!

Hed ask for probably half of anyone else and I refuse to believe that he just fell off a cliff in 2 years.

Partially true. Rice's dead money definitely cost us, because it actually cost us more to cut him than to keep him.

In general, dead money is sort of overrated. Last year, for example, we were basically middle in the pack in the league in dead money. As far as I can tell looking back at the past few years, there's relatively zero correlation between amount of dead money and on-field success.

The Falcons and Patriots both had more dead money than us last year, with the Falcons being among the league leaders.

At the end of the day, if you draft well, you can mask bad contracts. Cowboys have/had bad contracts, Falcons had many bad contracts, and other teams in the league have plenty of dead money and still manage to compete.

Its when you have bad contracts AND mediocre or below average draft classes that your team starts to fall off, and that's what's happened here.

There isn't a single team in the league that doesn't have bad contracts. All of them have multiple players being paid a decent amount that aren't performing at that level or aren't playing at all for various reasons.

From cap impact, he could be half price or close to.

There's no scenario where Wallace would produce double the output/value as Torrey in the same offense. Wallace may produce better, but not double.

Ultimately I don't think Torrey signs here, but it likely won't be because we don't think he could replace Wallace.

If we signed Torrey, it would likely be in addition to a possession receiver. In fact, it would likely increase the likelihood of us signing another possession receiver, since we'd almost certainly have more cap space to do it if we signed Torrey and cut Wallace.

Have no issue with choosing Flacco over a Guard and a DT who only plays about half his teams snaps on defense.

Seems like a no brainer to be honest. Not sure there would even be a case made to keep the other two instead of him, especially considering the replacement you would get for Flacco.

You think paying Flacco $4 million more than the average scrub QB is a bad contract but paying a Guard top LT money and $4 million more than Yanda is a good deal? And now you think paying a NT $10+ million is a good deal too? But it's Ozzie that should be fired right? SMH
