[News] Eisenberg: Evaluating 5 Potential Ravens Free-Agent Signings

40 posts in this topic

Nab Marshall and Mangold, extend Wallace to defer the cap hit, and try and re-sign Wagner. The Offense would be set. Draft edge, CB, and FS in the first 3 rounds, and then fill in on the lines of scrimmage as able.

cheers

No to Pryor, absolutely no track record. Ravens haven't been able to develop a WR and they expect to develop a WR that was a QB his entire career. Marshall or Kendall Wright. Oh and hell no to Revis.

Pryor is a beast, but I think the price tag will be too high. 6-4 230lbs and ran a 4.35 40. (That is Calvin Johnson measurables) He has worked hard to stay in the league and develop into a WR. Give him some credit.

Well, he did have 1,000 yards on a team with essentially a rotating crew of high school QBs, so from a track record standpoint, that's about the best you can ask for out of a FA WR, because any player with a more consistent, long term track record isn't likely to be available at all.

As it were, he won't be a Raven just on price tag alone, which is also telling.

If he were to sign with the Ravens, he would instantly be among one of the most talented and gifted WRs this franchise has ever seen.

DeSean Jackson, if he doesn't command an outrageous salary. Worked great with Marty when they were both with the Eagles, proven veteran, all around solid receiver.

So then we would have three speed deep threats and not a single player we can rely on for short yardage or 3rd down conversions?

He's not the type of player we are looking for.

Flacco relies on his TE & RB for a lot of his short yard gains...True, having a Mason, Boldin or SSS has also been a big part of the Raven's pass offence. No denial there. But looking how Jackson was used in philly, compared to how he was handled in D.C., I think he could be a more than decent fit. I saw him in a lot of Beagles games. Enthusiastic. Gamer. Exceptional athlete.Good hands. Strong body. No question about being a playmaker, which this team needs at WR. Always open for other possibilities, but I think he would fit here.

Well, he relied on his TE and RB for short yardage gains THIS PAST SEASON mostly, because of the same situation.

You obviously have zero sustainability depending on RBs 3rd down, because they're often staying in on pass protection, and we have zero idea how our TE core will shake out.

We need somebody who's willing to go over the middle and get the tough yardage, which DeSean didn't do in either place he's been.

All moot of course, because I don't think we have any real interest in him.

Well - I've said that I thought Marshall would be a nice addition, but I forgot about our stance of laying off of anyone with domestic violence in their history. From a skill standpoint, I think he's the best fit of the available, affordable WRs.

Brandon would be a good fit.  Besides, Inside the NFL would be forced to give more than 2 minutes to the Ravens every week.

I would like Marshall & Mangold, if the price is right and their health checks out. We need a true possession receiver and a solid center would really help the O-line. A center in the draft is also an option.

I do think that Brandon Marshall could help us, But, the one Huge mistake I can remember Mr. Bisciotti, the best owner in sports, making was his pathetic handling of the Ray Rice situation. And, with that, along with his statements on the subject he has kind of boxed the Ravens into a corner. It would be tough to quantify adding Marshall after his Repeated DV issues. Yes, I believe that he has grown, and reformed, in this area. But so had Ray Rice, and Ray's absolutely Horrible mistake was, in fact, a Singular mistake. He, just like Brandon Marshall has done Recently, dealt with his huge mistake as well as he possibly could, and before that One terrible incident, he had been a model employee and contributed greatly to the Baltimore community. Mr. Bisciotti's handling of that truly unfortunate incident was really a fiasco and very much surprised me. I still believe that he is the best owner in all of sports, but nobody is perfect, and I really think that he messed up big time on that decision he made. If we do sign Marshall, it will be very interesting listening to the FO's, and owner's, explanation of why Marshall's turn around makes him acceptable, but Ray's did not.

No to Revis & Pryor. I really like Mangold & Jefferson. Could boost 2 big needs. Wow, our O-line could rock, and our secondary would get serious right quick.

But we also need CB & WR big time, and we don't seem to do a good job at all of developing them to the max like the Squealers do with Brown, Bryant, Wheaton, etc.

Tough calls on many temptations.
