Harbs says there is "no doubt we will contend for a championship"... due to our "championship caliber quarterback"... I hope for his future in Baltimore he is calling this correctly.

"championship caliber quarterback" Harbs must be talking about a QB he's going to draft or trade for. "old 3 and out Flacco's" best days are behind him. All Flacco does is count all that money he has in the bank, because he sure can't read defences. Where's Trent Dilfer when we need him???

I hear you coach. However, we must make the playoffs to compete for a championship. That is no longer a given. Go Ravens!

Green would've made Flacco almost elite. But, alas he's sent Dalton to the pro bowl instead... we need to make a move for a talented receiver like that and it'll hopefully happen. Because generational receivers like him not only improve their team on the whole, but make the QBs they play with a whole lot better than they otherwise are.

Working for ESPN currently. While you are at it, why not Elvis Grbac too and maybe Kyle Boller? We are in on Flacco whether he sucks or not. Bottom line. What else do you want John to say? A sub-par QB making more money than God? Come on man!

I need some of that stuff that Harbaugh is smoking. Because unless the FO have a crystal ball that they'll use to strike homeruns with every last one of their FA and draft decisions, there is no realistic grounds for Harbaugh to state things like "no doubt we will contend for a championship".

Even some players admitted at the end of last season that this team is VERY far from being a contender. With SSS retiring and B.Williams, Juice and Wagner probably leaving we're left with even more holes.

So again, unless we have the best offseason ever in the history of everything, we'll be lucky to even make the playoffs, let alone be in serious competition for any titles.

But technically yeah, we might be contending for a championship during the first 2-3 weeks or so, when the difference between the best and worst teams is not more than couple of games. Other than that, some mighty strong stuff that Harbs is puffing.

The Ravens should be in contention for a playoff spot but likely not a championship (at least on paper).  That said, one never know what a team that gets hot at the right time can do, as we've seen before.

Losing Wagner, Williams, and Juice won't significantly hurt our chances as we have proven we can easily replace talent there.  If the cap savings enables us to retain Wallace, perhaps sign another decent WR (Marshall, Garcon, etc.), some quality secondary help and another OL before the draft, then that would actually make the team better, IMO.

My only hope is that FO resists the urge to overdraft a "high motor, high character" guy when there is better football talent available.

I want him to say "we are not going to ask Joe to do too much" instead lets ask him to do just enough to Win games!

lets not gameplan to throw our way out of trouble and instead do so when the game dictates it.

i read somewhere that Joe Flacco is like garlic. 1 spoon makes any dish better but 5 spoons and you just ruined your dish. Flacco should never be in a situation where he throws the ball more than Breez Rodgers Brady and Ryan in any season!

o want harbs to say something like I promise the run game will improve and this Flacco will look like a top 10 QB.

Iv been a Harbough supporter since day 1 and will always be but for gods sake stop feeding us is this nonsense Harbs!

Just a lil bit of what I'd like to hear lol

"No doubt we'll contend for championship"

Just shut up Harbaugh.

Seriously. I literally don't want to hear him speak until February, 2018

Just read this:

John Harbaugh: "Ravens will contend for a title because of Joe Flacco".

OMG, I haven't laughed so hard in a really long while. Oh jeeh, that's good stuff. If anything, we'll contend for a title IN SPITE of Joe Flacco. This was really just too much.

if John Harbaugh doesn't make the playoffs he's fired and he knew it so he through it all on the line but he knows if we make it to the playoffs and lose the first game he might keep his job but hopefully the John Harbaugh era will be over next year until then go ravens

Clean House!!! Starting with Harbaugh and his "championship caliber quarterback". One can't coach and one can't throw.
Any SB this team won with Harbaugh started with Ray Lewis, Ed Reed and a few other "D" players NOW all long gone.
We are stuck at the bottom of the NFL with what we NOW have in place.

Heck even Cleveland "contends" for a championship by just being in the NFL. Lets start by doing better than 8-8 and not having a right footed kicker pretend he kicks left.

It's been awhile since i've made a comment on this site, still pissed with all the bad decision making by Harbs and company.Just watched Harbs video speech and i almost had a heart attack when he praised Flacco. He and Flacco have regressed in my eyes from coaching to Flacco dink and dunk offensive crap shoot plays.Ugh! We are like almost broke because of all our money going to Flacco big contract, top five qb money at that, which he is not elite or great at reading a defense.Yet, Brady said he knows all the defenses, seen em' all can't fool or surprise him.So after 8 yrs. Flacco still can't read a defense still? It's sad that our team is a mess with hardly any money to sign playmakers we gotta hope the OZ and company get this draft right or we're going to continue too suck in the AFC as long as we lack cap every dare year. Ugh!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Harbaugh seriously needs to get off the Flacco is the greatest QB since Montana boat. He sucks up to him enough during the season. Now, its time to just shut up and not try to use 'reverse psychology' on Flacco. That is childish John. Even Flacco doesn't believe what you say in his heart.

Church!

I think that's what's bothering me most about Harbs. I mean, when he says stuff like that with a straight face, and actually believes it himself, then he obviously is not recognizing one of the main problems this team currently has. But when he actually does not believe it himself, then he's just lying to everyone instead of calling out Flacco to play better. I don't know which one of those is worse, but either way it makes me lose trust in him as a HC.

So true, man! It' painful to watch. And I don't get how some people think Flacco's contract is not the issue.

Yeah, he had the perfect leverage for a big payday by winning the SB and the FO took a gamble by giving him the extension. I'm not against the decision itself, how was the FO to know that Flacco's success was a fluke. Unfortunately, the gamble didn't pay off. But now to say that non of our problems stem from the QB play vs pay ratio is ridiculous.

We would be off pretty good if either of the following would happen:

1. Flacco would play well on a regular basis, or;

2. We would have enough cap room to bring in enough help that Flacco needs to play well.

The reality is, Flacco is not playing well enough and to make matters worse we don't have nearly any money to hire/re-sign great players who would help him play better. Even Biscotti recognized and called this out after the season.

So how can some people, including Harbaugh, justify our QB situation is beyond belief for me.
