Also, to expand on that just a tad.  I always found it hypocritical that a college athlete cant make a single cent for his name while in college but yet a English Lit major could go write a book and become a millionaire while in school...

Yeah nobody really thinks what the NCAA does is "fair".

I would love to see Adrian Peterson go to Green Bay. Payback for when Bret Favre went from GB to Vikings

IDK what "competitive offer means.... I would love to hear some numbers but I guess it is simply a little bit of a waiting game. I think we could keep MW- BW -RW, Ducasse and KJ and still clear cap space by letting go of: Webb, Arrington, Guy, (Z Orrs contract and SSS contract need to be factored in) . Letting Pitta walk, letting Kamar, letting Elam go and KLewis and maybe even Dumervill, and Sharece Wright. (and possibly Zuttah, JPowers and JHurst)

"Competitive offer" = we tried but it really looks like we won't have the money to keep Wagner, just like we couldn't afford K.O.

All depends.

We offered KO respectable LT money and he got paid like $5M more than any other Guard was getting at the time, so yeah, if the market explodes like that, we won't be resigning Wagner.

Hope we can keep Wagner he comes from a good school and the Ravens have had good O linemen it's just Joe isn't using his blocks correctly because QBs get hit in this division and still find a way to win and saying he doesn't have enough time is getting old!
Ozzie and Co. will find another gem out of school because winning Super Bowls is the goal and not breaking the bank and like I've been screaming the Ravens are not a "Rest Haven" for veterans they have that "Birds Eye" and will find another K.O . etc just sit back and watch and see!

Yup, good point.

No industry I know where employees are drafted to their employer, and have no say on whether they work for them or not.

One of many things that differentiates professional sports in general from any other industry.

A $100,000 scholarship is more than a single cent.

Of which a very small portion of student athletes actually receive anything even close to the size...

Athletes are the only ones who get scholarships?

Yeah hard to tell without knowing what the offer actually was. We heard the same thing last year when negotiating with KO.

Harbaugh also said that he expects Mike Wallace to return, and that we are in negotiations to retain Mallett as the backup as well.

We did offer KO a very good offer though its not our fault that Oakland VASTLY overpaid him to an extent that the Ravens could not hope to match.

No, but athlete's scholarships are revokable for reasons other than academic performance or behavior, unlike academic scholarships. If you get injured playing ball, they can strip your scholarship and then where are you as a student athlete?

Having Jamal Charles as a 3rd down back should enable him to stay healthier and might be a nice complementary back to our current roster. No reason to pay more than $2M/per for him. It also wouldn't make sense to break the bank for Hightower or Pryor - the former is a bit overrated, and the latter put up good numbers as the ONLY viable WR on his team (like Aiken in 2015).

I would like to see the FO go after Marshall or Garcon, quality secondary depth (FS or CB) and OL help (C, G, RT). If that means performing some minor cap surgery on the existing 8-8 quality roster, so be it.

I know that.  I was just pointing out how a student on a different scholarship (English lit) could financially benefit from his skills, while a football player could not.

"There is no doubt in my mind that we will contend for a championship next year," coach John Harbaugh said Wednesday in Indianapolis. Why is Harbaugh so optimistic following an 8-8 season? "The biggest thing in terms of where we are as a football team is the fact that we have a quarterback," Harbaugh said. "We have a championship-caliber quarterback. We have a guy who is capable of carrying a football team and has done it in the past.

Harbaugh needs to wake up and smell his own stink. "old 3 and out Flacco" hasn't carried this team anywhere but DOWN!!!!!

Time for Harbaugh to admin that without Ray Lewis, Ed Reed and a few other "D" players with attitude he would have been fired years ago.

We are lucky to have been 8 and 8, but I don't think we will be that lucky in 2017 or 2018 with our present QB and coach.

So I would love to hear your plan of action.  You're the GM, go:

This should be comical
