An extra 3rd round pick in this years draft is a big deal of us. DBs

not unless they draft another gilmore or cousins

Ideally, yeah, but we have so many holes to fill.  Can probably find developmental OL, DL, ILB and maybe a KR in those rounds.  Wish we had Pittsburgh's skill in finding starting-caliber WRs that late.

The Ravens are not in as bad a position as it seems heading into the draft.  What they NEED is a corner to go alongside Jimmy, another pass rusher and a possession/slot receiver.  They already said they will likely do the latter in FA which really only leaves 2 starters you are hunting for and then the rest of the positions you have time to groom them as backups.  Yes not every starter is an All Pro but they are certainly getting the job done.  The DLine is stacked.  You know who your ILB starters will be and you have time to groom Suggs replacement.

On offense maybe you want a new center but assuming you can keep Wagner the rest of the line is pretty set so you can draft some depth there because OLine depth is always useful but thats pretty much it.  You are not drafting anymore TE or WRs since you have tons of those in development already and the Ravens already have 2 RB they like so at best they might draft a speed guy in later rounds.

Basically there are not that many real needs so you can go hunting for gems who you think will be huge.

I just hope that Ozzie and the crew not going to hesitate to trade a 3 round pick to trade up for a talent player that still on the board. No more of this try trade back and get more picks scenario we need talents on this team. The more picks we get, the greater that they not even gonna make this team anyway.

This pick is pretty huge, it allows the Ravens much more flexibility in the 2 and 3rd picks, then get this extra 3rd. 4 picks in the top 100 match last year and in this years draft could prove to be even more valuable.
So many possibilities, Its still possible the Ravens look to add another pick by trade, however I doubt they try to move position on any of the top 4 picks.
Now i really see the possibilities of a top Center picked at #2.
Round 3 is going to have plenty of players that the Ravens can utilize pretty much any position can be helped. DE, LB, O line + WR, RB or S are all in play.

Deep class, 4 picks in the top 100, I just don't see a trade except giving up the 2- 3's or 3 and 4 but the best you are going to do is move up in the 3rd. No way the Ravens have enough trade power to make an impact in Round 1 or 2 Unless they want to give up the caliber of a Perriman, Young or Dixon.

I'm psyched for the pick, but comps are the flip side of watching our young talent walk. Getting comp picks is huge - lets the team potentially stay young and cheap - but it's totally dependent on the team drafting more talent. It seems like we're stuck in some bad contracts with vets after letting young talent walk and missing on high round picks, leading to a vicious cycle of comp picks. Its hard to get too excited about this pick when the past few days worth of articles have been talking about cap space and probably watching Williams, Wagner, and Juice walk.

Wow!

1- I'm glad we finally get something in return for losing KO and hope we use that pick wisely.

2- I can't believe the NFL gave out 11! 3rd round comp picks. Usually the NFL Capps it at 4 or 5.

3- this ultimately means our FO can get two third round comp picks next year if we lose Williams and Wagner which could change everything

Trade the entire draft to Michigan for the GOOD Harbaugh and whoever their QB is. Then get rid of the two REAL problems for this team!

its great that we get a 3rd round pick for Osemele but i don't see the ravens moving up in the draft by trading this pick or any other pick as long as we pick smart players that can come in and contribute ill be happy

We lose Kelechi Osemele and the 99th pick. We lost again. With Ozzie's draft problems and a head coach that has forgotten how to coach we lose for the third time.
The owner has to make changes and SOON!!!

Getting awarded a pick and you still complain because we let a guard go who got offered LT money for G, makes sense.  I bet you would complain about a 98 yard TD because it wasn't a 99 yard TD.  I love it.

Chuck you repeat the same things over and over again, even though they rarely make sense. Do you think repeatedly suggesting that the owner makes changes is going to force Steves hand? If so you can throw that in the bin with your other zany ideas, like cutting all of our TEs, so we can take OJ in round 1 or only using 4 of this years picks on DBs and then trading away the rest.

Biggest myth going. These "junk" round picks we seem to be obsessed with are totally useless to our team. Start hitting on 1st and 2nd rounders like we did for 20 years and screw the 4th 5th and 6th junk round picks who amount to nothing.

Im not exactly sure about what your position is on junk rounders from this statement

Is the myth that junk round picks are useless or that junk round picks are important?

Here is some of the "junk" Ozzie has collected in those rounds that have been key contributors:  Lewis, Dixon, Young, Juice, Wagner, McPhee, Tyrod Taylor, and Pitta.  Jury is still out on guys like Judon and Zadarius Smith.

In fact, Ozzie & co seem to have done relatively better in the later rounds than they have in the 2nd and 3rd recently.  Maybe they should just trade back for monster 4th round opportunities (half kidding)

I get your point. 4-6th rounders are rarely the difference makers that get you to the playoff. Ravens have been kept afloat by free agents and long time vets. OZ needs to hit on early rounds for Ravens to have consistent success.

You're kidding right?
Lewis, who is that....a lineman that played average for a handful of games this year?
Dixon is awesome but hasn't produced yet
Young is the man
Wagner is taking off
Mcphee had one year and is long gone
Z hasn't donr anything at all
And Most of us hope we cut Pitta

Hit on the 1rst and 2nds, and we're in afc championship game.............
WHIFF life Ozzie and CO has for Years, and we miss the playoffs 3 out of 4 years and our KICKER keeps us from being the 2nd or third pick in the draft. The whole FO is about 10 years behind. Harbaugh is embarassing for everything he brings to the ravens

This should all but guarantee 2 secondary draft selections within the first 3 rounds with 4 picks. No need to trade up or back to take advantage of deep secondary class and still have flexibility to grab a difference maker when the picking is good.

The "GOOD" Harbaugh who lost in the Superbowl to his "BAD" brother?

Nahh, I will stick with the BAD Harbaugh. Thanks.

No we'll draft the best available player which will be a guard and tight end.

NONE of those guys are going to get you to a super bowl. They are exactly what I'm saying they are..............junk round role players. Bart Scott and Jarret Johnson. Not Ray Lewis, Ed Reed, Peter Boulware, Todd Heap, Chris McAllister...............first round blue chip talent. Those guys win your super bowls, not junk rounders.

We need all the help we can take, so this extra 3rd round pick will be good. people said last year's draft was good, but i think the jury is still out on that. plus, we had 100 picks last year, so you figure oz and dacosta would at least nail a couple of picks. too bad we didnt find a stud last year that can contribute right away. anyhow, we need to start hitting on these drafts, like now, because oz and dacosta have already set us back 5 years with the past 5 drafts

I'll take a team that hits on first rounders and 4th-6th rounders over a team that hits on 1st and 2nd rounders but whiffs on 4th - 6th.  The latter is finishing in last place in the division.
