Pre-Combine Offseason

Cut: Mike Wallace, Elvis Dumervil, Kendrick Lewis, Benjamin Watson (Savings 16.5 million)

Trade Round 7 for Conner Barwin (7.5 cap this year)

Free Agents: Alshon Jeffrey (5 years - $65 Million; ala TY Hilton's contract 4-5 cap this year)

Tony Jefferson (4 years - $24 Million; 3-4 cap this year)

Sylvester Williams (4 years - $20 Million 2-3 cap this year)

Resign: Lawrence Guy

             Kyle Juszczyk

Still leaves the team around 7 Million to round out with some veteran backup

Round 1: Corey Davis, WR: Western Michigan

Round 2: Desmond King, CB: Iowa

Round 3: Ethan Pocic, C: LSU

Round 3 Comp: Zach Banner, OG: USC

Round 4: Ryan Switzer, WR: UNC

Round 5: Ejuan Price, OLB: Pitt

Round 6: Xavier Woods, S: Louisiana Tech

Davis gives us a player to work the intermediates, while Switzer gives us a guy to work the underneath with Perriman taking the top off.

King is a natural ball hawk who fills in across from Jimmy pushing Wright into a lesser role where he can excel more.

Pocic and Banner give us a massive (literally) boost to the left side of the line allowing Lewis to move to RT

Price is a Dumervil clone, only much younger and cheaper.

Woods is an under the radar guy that has the bark and leadership to take a late round flier on

Despite the cuts you mentioned and the 2017 space that would be so created we will have to deal with Mosley, Jernigan, Urschel contratcs which will be expiring one year from now.

All of this might work for one season but it would be a big problem already in 2018.

The draft itself looks good imo. I like it, even tho you've been too optimistic on Pocic (who should be a lock in the top 50-60), Switzer and Price, imo.

Yeah that FA period is just way too unrealistic.  Don't forget how heavily tenders play into your cap space.  It looks like a lot on the surface but those numbers go down quickly.  Plus, as already mentioned, you could probably finagle cap hits for year 1 but good luck in future years.  That's exactly how teams fall off a cliff.

The thing I don't get is trading for Connor barwin when he only had 2 more sacks than doom last year and has a higher cap hit than doom and you're giving away draft capital - I think there's no way it happens

This is not a bad draft at all but before I comment further on  that let me start on your free agent choices. Alshon Jeffery is a good receiver but unless The Ravens believe their new strength and condition coach can keep him healthy then giving him a long term contract is risky. I like Tony Jefferson but don't like that he's  strictly a strong safety in Dean Pees defensive scheme. I read that The Broncos run defense wasn't really all that good last year and Sylvester Williams was their starting NT but The Ravens have been known to get more out of players. I didn't like that you cut Mike Wallace even though Jeffery is a better receiver than him it leaves Joe Flacco with just Breshad Perriman with prior experience with Joe. I'm not downing  Perriman at all but I just think Flacco needs atleast two wide receivers he has played with before .

Corey Davis is one of the better wideouts in this draft so how can anyone hate this pick. I don't like the Desmond King pick not because he's not a good player but because of what you envision he will be . He's a pure zone corner  and doesn't have the size that some or most would like to see a outside cornerback have especially one that could fill  for Jimmy Smith if needed.  I think The Ravens need a  taller corner that has the ability to press receivers but also has the quick feet and etc to play zone and off man.  King would be a  great pick if The Ravens were considering him as  a safety but it just seem like you drafted a nickel corner in the second with Young and Webb already petty solid in that area.  I don't know alot about Ethan Pocic but the guy is pretty tall .Zach Banner interest me but not sure if I like him at guard or should I say i'm not sure if will be ideal fit there. I really like  Ryan Switzer and I have no clue who the other guys are.

I think Jeffry is a pipe dream and I don't really get the point of signing Williams. I'd rather bring back Guy for real cheap and Ozzie has proven he is an absolute wizard at getting DL talent in the midrounds. We have a lot of young talent there too. I really wish we could get someone like Tony Jefferson, but I doubt we would want to pour so much money into safeties with him and Weddle. From the Mock: really like the Davis, King, Pocic, Switzer picks. Pocic won't be there though. Really, really don't like the Banner and Price picks. Banner just the OL version of Mount Cody. Just big and fat. Price just isn't an NFL player.
