[News] Free Agency Breakdown: Ravens RT Rick Wagner

our coaches are the biggest issue, no matter what players u bring in. just look at last season, with all the issues we had we still could've made the playoffs, have we ran the ball more during the season, heck we even almost lost the philly game b/c we didn't run the ball. how pathetic HC can be coming out saying we need to run the ball, and totally abandon it on game days.

going to be a tough call on wagner/williams. they will probably both be priced out of our range.

Then the decision is really out of Ravens hands.

As noted on another thread, neither Wagner nor Williams will be playing with the Ravens next year. With Flacco's contract and the small amount of cap space available, there is no way we will be able to compete with other teams that need these positions filled. That is not the Raven's mantra. Case in point, the Browns have the cap space ($100+ million) to hire 7-10 probowlers from free agency and could probably use both these positions. Even the Patriots have $65 million in cap space.

If the Juice wants too much money...let him walk too. The primary role of this position is blocking and in this capacity he was mediocre at best. If doing such a great job, why was our run came so miserable? Where were the holes? Why such a poor red zone run performance? Looking at the tapes, most of his benefits to the Ravens was as a receiver...that can be filled by TEs and the other running backs. If he leaves we will not miss him. I like him, but we no longer utilized this position to its capacity.

Pita should also be let go. Great story...can't fault him on that; but business is business. He is a lousy blocker and any TE should be able to catch a ball 8.7 yards down field (average for the Flacco/Pita tandem). Being the #1 TE in the league was not a testament to Pita but indicative of a QB that has lost confidence, afraid to look down field and afraid of getting hit.

Let them all go.

Valid point. It might happen to an extent. Very possible Wagner and Williams get paid elsewhere. Pitta could be gone also. Would hate to see Juice go but if a team pays that much for a FB? I don't see any big FA signings that other teams can afford. This draft might be better than last. Get rid of all these CBs from the practice squad. Arrington was a desperation move I didn't like. This draft is loaded with DBs. I'm fine with taking a TE or WR with the 1st pick. Depends on players on the board when the Ravens draft. I'm definitely fine with trading back and getting more picks. Reload while keeping the right players and getting younger. Getting Stanley and Alex Lewis in last draft was huge. This draft is weak at OL. But deep at about every other position except LB. Correa needs to step up this year. Good chance the Ravens take a top receiver, replace Dumervil, or draft a LB to replace Orr with their 1st pick. Plenty of good CBs in later rounds. Should be able to find a RB that could find his way to the top of the depth chart.

Head Coach John Harbaugh said during the season-review press conference: “We are going to build an offensive line that is the best in the league.”
I guess he plans to trade for all the Dallas starters. We don't have the right staff to select players in the draft and/or trade for them. Our coaching staff, starting with Harbaugh isn't all that they think they are. He got his SB win with guys like Ray Lewis and Ed Reed pushing the team. On his own Harbaugh and his present staff are just average at best.
So we have a GM who can't draft worth a damm any more and poor coaching. How does anyone expect this team to be better than 6-10 to 8-8 in a good year????

Literally people would lose their minds but if Wagner stays--even if he leaves too--we could take Cam Robinson in the first to play guard then Pat Eiflein in the second to play center and I'd guarantee within a year our line would be just as good if not better than the cowboy's line.
