Dude c'mon don't be a homer... Our draft success in recent years has been poor at best and our ability to retain players has been even worse. Max Williams and Carl Davis has been bums, Correa and Kaufasi were not smart picks regardless of bronson's injury. The entire 2015 draft class will be off the team before long, heck only 3 players are on our roster combined from the 2009-2012 drafts and depending on how free agency pans out we may only have 1-2 left from the 2013 draft. This isn't a new issue, our draft success has gone down the toilet

I am the farthest thing from a homer. I am practical, yet still very critical of coaching and the FO.

I agree, FA has been a nightmare for us and retaining players. Our drafts have been lackluster, especially early, using hindsight is always great though, but at the time of these drafts most of these picks looked very promising or a handful did in fact turn out pretty good.

Without sounding like a parrot, 16' looks to be a very good draft but I agree that KC and Bronson were not great fits. But you cannot refute that there were many gems in the draft. Stanley looks impressive, so does young. Dixon and Lewis flashed and they were just rookies. Judon did as well.

This draft is critical and I expect Ozzie to knock it out of the park. We are drafting dead in the middle, unless he takes a raw corner or a unrefined WR in the first, I think he gets us a pro bowler.

Games are won in the trenches. O-line, especially the center position is all the ravens really need. The D was solid as long as the offense didn't get so predictable that they couldn't stay on the field. And that's where games were lost. In the second half when the O couldn't couldn't adapt and the D got wore out. You give the run game and add and extra second or two to the protection and they already have the backs and receivers to torch any defense in the league. If you want to give Flacco play makers give him him maulers up front. The D needs better CB's. I get that. But if the O can't grind out drives to give those guys some rest it really doesn't matter how good the next CB is.

Agreed. Get Flacco a beast line and he can throw dimes. I think regardless of Wagner staying or leaving, we need a versatile mauler/technician like Dan Feeney or Pat Eiflein that can play guard or center very well. We plug them in and out run game will be relevant again.

We need 2 corners from this draft, 1 starter and another that. Is for depth and can develop into a starter in a few years. Take one in the first two rounds then grab another in the third or fourth.

I prefer to take a rusher early because the talent level of deep, but the premier talent dips after the first 4 or 5 guys. After Garrett, Barnett, Charlton, Williams and Harris, the talent starts to become questionable. Takk looks good but he has only had one good year and his rush moves are really raw. He mainly relied on athleticism and effort to get there.

This is really a over complicating things. A second J Smith-esque caliber CB and the Ravens arguably, but very likely make the playoffs last season. It should have been enough to win at least one extra game down the stretch and another in the early season with the close games.

Offense really just needs to be able to run and pass and not get pigeon whole into being singularly a pass or run team.

Fix the elephant in the room then address the other items. Too many drafts lately go by and ignore the elephant in the room. Time to move the elephant out of the room for good, if not he will not let you forget.

If you go back and look at every draft we've had since 1996, we're drafting just as good now as we always did. And to say the last two draft classes are busts is nuts! You have to give them a couple of years to really see if they are productive or not.

BPA that's Ozzies motto and hes gonna stick to it.

If he would pick anything close to that, it would be great. Gotta nail those 1rst and 2nd round picks and the rest will pan out. No more Kindle, Cody, Elam, AB, KC, and Maxx Williams picks. Can't survive that way. Even Upshaw was just about a 1rst round pick-35th. He was good his first year and helped us win a SB so I can't put him on this list, but when you trade and out of the first, and pick someone with the 35th pick in the draft, I don't think you're aiming for somebody that can only stop the run. Such a bummer Ramsey went right before us last year. So unfortunate. Ronnie's a baller though, at an important position too. The 4th round was really good last year. But that better happen when you not only trade down and pass on BIGTIME studs like Chris Jones, Noah Spence, Sterling Shepard, Deion Jones, Derrick Henry, Micheal Thomas, Cody Whitehair and others. All besides Jones were flirting with first round selections and slid right to us. Passing on them is one thing, but then we pick a "hustle" player from BOISE STATE, without a position at the next level. FacePalm. Gotta nail those first and second round picks THIS YEAR, otherwise we'll be sitting at 8-8 or 9-7 at best for years to come.

Pass rusher, pass rusher, pass rusher. Hopefully one that can also be seen as a legit D lineman. The better a team pressures the QB the better the DB's will look.

The pass rushers don't look that impressive to me. Esp. Tim Williams, not a fan. But going with your dline theme, what if Solomon Thomas fell to us. That would be very interesting! If we took him and grabbed a legit corner in the second or FA, the Ravens defense would be back

W&W might walk no matter what.
We have in house replacements whether they are as good or proven YET-Lewis and Pierce
Trade for Marshall now and get a bargain on his salary. Exact type of wr we need
Sign Trumaine Johnson, tall physical underated corner that gets multiple picks every year
Marshall and Johnson would fill 2 Massive needs beautifully.
Round 1, draft Solomon Thomas is he slips to us, Or go get the Raven born Jamal Adams!
Then select the Ohio State or LSU Center in round 2.
If we make those 4 moves, I don't care how the rest of the offseason unfolds. I believe we'll be playing NE in the AFC Championship game next year if we make those moves

Having said all that, if we don't sign a Legit corner in FA ( only a few out there), we have to pick one in round one. Or two

Free Agency and 15 picks before us will dictate who we take but we could have won more games and made the playoffs with just a few Defensive stops in the 4th quarter a lot of that was coaching but we had guys that couldn't tackle wouldn't tackle didn't know who to cover and when they did didn't cover we need help on the Defense more but if you can get the best RB or WR in the draft at 16 you have to think about it I on the other hand would go Pass rusher 1st RD cb 2nd rd

still wondering why pees is still here

I have been asking that same question for 2 years now his 4th quarter defense hasn't changed different players every year same coach same results I'm no math wiz but I can put 2 and 2 together

That's been the story for 4 years now. Ozzie absolutely refuses to give up those junk round picks (4th-6th rounds) to move up and get one. Corners go early and we're at 16. No way we'll get one there. We'll probably take another guard and tight end in the first two rounds.

do you see the damage ozzie does with 4th and 5th round picks? its absurd. he doesnt wanna trade his 4th and 5th rounders for good reason.

also, you sound like you arent familiar with the draft class at all. there are 2 safeties that are almost certain to go before a corner goes, and then there are 5 or 6 first round corners this year. this draft is loaded with quality corners all the way up until the 4th round. we will be able to trade BACK and find a corner in the first.

also, if we took a guard or TE in the first 2 rounds it would probably be a ggood pickup, considering we need a plan to move on from pitta and OJ howard and evan engram are incredible talents, and dan feeney and cam robinson look like future pro bowl guards which is also a huge weakness on this team.

Supposedly, it's a great draft for a corner. We need one of those. And we need our recent draft picks to pick it up and contribute, and not just near the end of their 5-year timeframe.

we've also seen some terrible damage he's done in the end of the first, and the second and third for years now. Those are the ones that matter the most. It's killin us and there's no denying that. Maybe it's time to give up some of those picks to move up in the first and get a serious playmaker. Like Sizzle, Ngata, Ray, and Ed. And maybe an offensive one for once. If we moved up in this draft, which I doubt we will, there are some serious playmakers that won't make it to 16, but will also be outside the top 5. Jamal Adams was born a Raven. Solomon Thomas would be interesting, and could slip to us. Fournette and Mike Williams look awesome. Those are just to name a few. Not saying we should 100% move up, but we definitely need to add some serious play making leaders. Sizzle is our last legend and will be gone after this year, if he does play. An excuse for not moving up for years now has been " Oh but there's so much depth in this draft". While we've made some good late picks that have barely kept us treading water, we've also made some killer(bad) picks with those "depth" picks and trade downs. Gotta nail the first and second round pick this year, otherwise we'll be right where we've been, for many more years imo

We've made some good late picks. But some of the higher ones that we've whiffed on for years now are killin us. Have to pick playmakers in the first 3 rounds, or at least people that will contribute at all.
This is the craziest corner class I've ever seen. Not to mention 2 potential all pro safeties that'll go before 16. Normally I would agree with you, but I think in this draft there will be a shut down corner available at 16 no matter what. I a huge fan of Sidney Jones and Quincy Wilson. I also like Lattimore, Tabor. I think one of those 4 will be there at 16 for sure. If not it would drop another huge play maker to us. Plus there are others people like. I legitimately think at least 10 corners will go in the top 55 picks which is crazy. This offseason and draft means so much to the Ravens its nuts

If we don't have those 4th and 5th rounders in 2016 then our draft class has one quality player. You could say nailing the top pick is most important and Ozzie has whiffed a lot lately, but if you're finding starters in the 4th and 5th almost every year then stick with it. Law of averages says you'll nail a first or second rounder eventually with a superstar and until then you keep your roster stocked by hitting home runs on late rounders.

Selling the house is so risky, you can never guarantee the guy you move up for pans out or stays healthy, and more often than not the traded picks put teams in a hole of mediocrity for years before they see success in the win column. Look how bad the falcons records were basically every year between julios rookie year and this year, hell the redskins could be doing quite well right now had they not sold the farm for rg3. There's just so much that goes wrong nearly every time a team makes a big leap up in the draft

Agree with you to some extent but if we keep tying to nail the 4th and 5th round picks for starters and miss on most of the #2 and #3 picks it eventually catches up to you. That's one of the main reasons we are a middle of the pack team heading towards another 8-8 season. Gotta shake it up on Draft Day and try something different.

You also have to mention that those mid to late round picks don't carry much weight in trade up scenarios in early rounds. A third or 4th might give you a boost in the second, but in the first you're looking at a minimum of a third rounder to move up a few spots.

To move from 6th to 4th, Cowboys wanted a third.

I do agree we could get a starting caliber corner well into the third round, but by no means would I ever take a TE in the first--I know it was for example, but I'd more easily take Feeney or Robinson and feel comfortable that they will come in and make a difference day 1.

Lol so you don't think the rushers are that good this year? There might not be a Clowney and Mack going in the top 5, but this year's class is definitely deep with guys that can get home.

Garrett obviously is off the table but he is an all-pro waiting to happen.

Barnett broke Reggie White's school record at Tennessee. He is highly productive and might not be the fastest or the strongest, yet he has shown impressive strength, but he is perhaps the most technically sound rusher with perfect bend around the edge. Also is highly reliable in his run duties.

Tim Williams is still climbing the ladder and his get off is crazy. He actually improved in run defense this year, but regardless, odd you need someone to get to the QB, he will be a very good option. He just needs to improve on counter moves because when the OT gets his hands on him and his spin or rip moves don't work he gets pushed way outside the pocket. He could be a 9 wide kinda rusher.

Harris has the best first step and spin move in the class. He lacks in other areas but he will give OTs trouble.

McKinley I'm not overly impressed with, but he is a high motor effort kinda player that could take off with proper coaching.

Soloman Thomas is a high IQ rusher that can go inside or out and can make lineman look silly with his crafty ways of getting to the QB. He is a slightly less physically gifted Aaron Donald doppelgänger.

Taco Charlton is another big rusher that wins with strength and technique. I am not sold on him yet but he has all the tools to be very good.

I don't look Smoot or Walker, but in a 4-3 they could be nice rotational guys.

The Ravens need to take the best player available in the secondary at 16. Rookie Tavon Young was the best CB last year and Weddle was our best safety. We need to upgrade the speed at that position and become more physical on the back end. Jimmy Smith for the money he is getting and the history of injuries could be a cap casualty. The way the depth in the secondary is playing out we could take 2 or 3 secondary players (2 cb's/1 safety).

I agree, Round 1, draft Solomon Thomas if he slips to us, Or go get the Raven born Jamal Adams!
Then select the Ohio State or LSU Center in round 2.
Get a edge/DE in round 3 and/or trade a few low round draft choices for another 2nd rounder, then do it again and get a RB in the 2 or 3 rounds. I would rather we got talent that can play NOW than just a high number of picks who just end up as bench warmers. We already have plenty of them.

Unfortunately you can't just "trade a few low round draft choices" to move up. It takes a lot more than that to move up 16 spots. First you want to get rid of all the tight ends so we can draft one in the first, and now you want trade all of our picks away until we only have four left? We wouldn't have enough players to make 53 if you were pulling the strings my friend. Im not trying to give you a hard time because I know youre new to this. Im just trying to reel you back down to reality a bit. But quality depth is extremely important especially because our guys have trouble staying healthy and thats what the later rounds are for (every once in while you find a quality starter down their too) But it isnt out of the question to move up once in the first three rounds (possibly more depending how many spots we have jumped). But its a long season, and we have a lot of spots to fill/upgrade. We need all the help we can get.

I think we can nab Pocic or Elfein in the 2nd or Orlovsky in the third and be set at C for years.  Let Wagner walk, slide Lewis out, and backfill inside with a 4th-rounder, Hurst, Urschel, Jensen, or one of the talented dudes Ozzie stashed on the IR (Wesley and Nembot).  I'm really not that worried about the line, so long as they are coached up and the scheme fits.

i would have to agree, not that Im not concerned but we cant have pro bowlers at every position, the big guys are just going to have to step up and fill the space with good talent and effort. Its time they play to NFL level.

Fill the Center spot with a "top" 2nd rounder, high percentage pick and go for it.

Stanley, Yanda, Lewis, 2nd round #1 Center and one of our top Staff linemen should be a very good, if not great O line.

Ravens must concentrate on Williams, a CB and work on offensive playmakers,

Where you been the last 4-5 years? Ozzie has made arguably one good pick in the first two rounds since 2011. CJ Mosley

Busts: Matt Elam, Courtney Upshaw, Arthur Brown
TBD: Perriman, Jernigan, Correa, Stanley

Some of you guys have to stop drinking that purple Kool aid and accept ozzies recent failures which have let this franchise down.

Jamal Adams will not fall to us. Mike Williams will not fall to us. Fournette will not fall to us. Hell, Cook might not even fall to us. At some point, I'm talking to you Ozzie, you have to trade up and grab these guys that are going to be stars.

Let's not forget he chose to keep a third round pick( 3rd string d lineman who missed entire season) instead of trading it to grab Jalen Ramsey( top 10 corner PFF) Passed on stefon diggs (5th round) from MARYLAND.

Our SECONDARY would already be solidified if Ozzie grew a pair and gave up that 3rd rounder for Ramsey.

Perhaps, but then Joe's other knee could've been shattered by whatever stopgap they threw in at LT.  Ozzie made the smart move with the 1st pick last year (though Stanley will always be compared with Tunsil going forward - too early to judge).
