[News] Ravens Announce Four Coaching Changes

39 posts in this topic

As for the secondary it is difficult to determine how well the coaching is, because we have so many bad players (Wright, Lewis, Arrington, etc). Jimmy Smith is being coached by the same guys that Wright is, but Jimmy likes to press and Wright plays 7 yards off the line of scrimmage. Does Wright do that so he doesn't get beat deep or do the coaches tell him to back off because they don't want him to get beat deep? I know it depends on the individuals own technique as well.

I'm just wondering if Hewitt would want to bring in guys that like to press or play off coverage or press bail, etc. Does he have a preference? If I were him, I would say I definitely need better talent.

I just felt better with having Frazier as a coach, he's got tremendous knowledge and experience. I like Hewitt learning under him for a few years. If I hire a guy, just like with any company, I want a guy with experience and knowledge and not a guy with two years experience two years being an assistant to an assistant on special teams if I'm trying to improve a certain area. I'm sure there are better candidates out there.

Please excuse my ignorance, but what is the difference between a secondary coach and a defensive backs coach?

I have the same question.

Maybe one coaches schemes and the other focuses on technique?

Honestly couldn't tell you... those two words are synonymous in my book.

Biggmack is 100% correct , This is not coaching changes, it is blowing smoke up the fans backside, the only hope we have is that G Romans can impose his will and take control of the OC job, Morningwig is just plain awful, his late game ineptness nearly cost us 2 games in which we were clearly in control of. Morningwig is Cam Cameron all over again, soooo tired of wimpy herbaugh hiring his cronies, every fan knows the last Super Bowl we won was RAY's Super Bowl not herbaughs, I hope I am wrong , but without a miracle just can't see past 8-8 again this year.......

Giving Ray too much credit. He didn't even play the whole year. Missed games due to injury. Don't remember him playing offense either. I love the guy but no way does he get ALL the credit.

Ray gave so much more than just playing time. John got here in 2008 and Ravens make 5 straight playoffs. This also means they are picking late in the draft rounds. Then Ray leaves 2012. It would have been 4 straight years of not making the playoffs except for Gary. Ravens pick high in draft those years and still this team is no better shape than 2013. Something fundamentally changed or that must be one hell of a Super Bowl hang over. The difference when Ray was here and when Ray & Crew left you have to admit is striking. Evidently they worked great together but I don't think John realized that until now.

" we will essentially have the same offense we did last year which was ok at best and was very inconsistent from week to week"

This is inherently not true, since it was Trestman's offense.

I hear this a lot and have to say that with this logic, we won the SB thanks to Cam Cameron's offense. If Marty bears no responsibility for our losses last season then Caldwell can take no credit for our SB win. I'm open to hearing a logical explanation as to why this is wrong.

I think I heard somewhere that we have the largest coaching staff in the NFL. Could that be part of our problem? Too many opposing viewpoints. It will be interesting to see how a heavy run guy like Roman will work with a pass heavy guy like Marty. If they have any chemistry it could be a thing of beauty but I would think the most likely outcome will be fustration with each other until one leaves. Hope I am wrong

How come if all the Raven coaches are so bad they keep getting promoted? Do you think that all of you that believe 'that if he is a Raven he must be bad' are wrong?

Hire Ed Reed !!!!!! What we have now for coaches isn't much given the teams record the past 4-5 years. We need some Kick Butt coaches. I'm sure Ed Reed could do that with the poor secondary players we have now. He surely can't hurt !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I think we have about 29 too many coaches, we just need 3, 4 max, head, oc, do, and st. The guys have been playing their entire lives, that's what college is for too, development, if they don't know to play by the time they are drafted, then they shouldn't be drafted.
