d'qwell would be a solid addition imo if the price works and mr. injury prone crockett should worry about making the team.

I think he has done more than enough to solidify his spot on the team.... Watson, boyle, waller, and max need to worry about that

It's funny that it seems to work out like this a lot. Gilmore has had multiple injuies, hardly played and is coming into a contract year. He will probably ball out and then some team will offer him way too much money and we lose him to free agency. Seem to go that way. Lol

No interest in getting older on defense at any position.

We need the cap space too badly to even consider retaining Watson. We all know how much Joe loves Pitta but a pay cut would certainly be in order after last year. Although he had a lot of catches his average yards per catch and per target was near the bottom of the league... as was his yardage after first contact. We need to gamble on our young guys and save the cap space to retain some our free agents or to sign others.

You probably nailed it. Nice to see a player show some Raven attitude though.

Love that attitude from Crockett, let's see if it will translate to playmaking on the field. I still remember that 2 TD game in Oakland a couple years ago where he was literally putting the Raiders defense on his back. Also, I see D'Qwell got cut, who wants to bet Ozzie has already gotten him on the phone?

No thanks we don't need older players on the cheap we need younger faster ,stronger players

When Crockett is on the field hes a BEAST! If he can stay healthy I see no reason why he couldn't be a 3 down TE. He can block, catch, strong enough to break tackles and has a nasty attitude.

None of our TEs' short of Waller and Boyle can stay healthy. Cut Pitta and Watson immediately and designate Gillmore, Boyle and Waller as our 3 Res for the season. We'll be more than okay and it'll also force Flacco to accept more run plays since he doesn't have Pitta to throw 3 yd passes to.

Where is the money going to come from to pay for those younger, faster players? The FO is already over-paying Flacco and our aging/injury-prone veterans. That severely limits our ability to sign playmakers.

Yes, but its pretty hard to sell him being the "right player". Doesn't fit the mold of anything we're looking for.

That would be the draft. Have no problem signing draft picks, just like we never do.

If the TE from Ala. is there in the draft, take him, cut all but one from the gang of TE's we have. Whom ever they keep just make sure he a healthy one. Pitta can be cut, to save some money. He is due for another breakdown anyway.
Please don't draft another WR. We know Ozzie can't pick the good ones.
We need CB's, LB's DE's and a center. A starting QB would be great. "Old 3 and out Flacco" must go SOON!!!!

A veteran presence with strong leadership ability always fits into a Ravens D. We just lost our young and fast guy, Zach Orr, and the word on the street is that McClellan will move back inside if necessary. D'Qwell is a much better player than that, even if it turns out like a Daryl Smith situation where he comes in for a few years, balls out, and moves on. Honestly, if the goal every year is to get to the playoffs, why wouldn't we want someone who can help us do that, even if it is only for a year or two? This isn't a team that needs to be totally rebuilt from the ground up, it is a team that needs a few plug and play starters to get over the hump. D'Qwell Jackson fits that mold.

1. We've got about a half dozen guys on defense who fit the mold of "veteran presence with strong leadership" already. How does adding another make our team better? Who's he going to lead if there's nobody to learn from him? Heck, the guy he would play directly next to, CJ Mosley, is exactly that veteran presence with strong leadership you're referring to.

2. The goal every year isn't to make the playoffs... the goal is to win a SB. Jackson is the kind of player a young team adds that helps get them to the playoffs. Jackson isn't the kind of player an old team adds to get them to the SB. There's a big difference there.

3. Most importantly, I'm still waiting for somebody to tell me what specific on-field attributes he brings to the table. Again, don't really see the purpose of the cute "veteran leadership" label. On this team, he wouldn't be close to a leader of the pack... he would just be one of the pack.

The focus of this offseason should be on one thing... getting good football players. Teams that win championships have good football players. That's kind of the idea.

We need speed, we need energy, and we need diversity on defense. At inside linebacker, we need coverage skills.

Does that sound like Jackson to you?

Point #2 really resounded with me, and it sounds right. But I think Jackson has a lot to offer our team, especially considering that he would play opposite CJ. Jackson has consistently been one of the top tacklers in the league and clearly plays with enough energy to always be around the football. 10 year vets who get cut always play with a chip on their shoulder the next year, and the Ravens have frequently benefited from players in exactly that position. The reason we liked Zach so much is because he flew around the field and made a lot of tackles. If we think we can replace that production, why not bring him in? Wasn't Daryl Smith an 11 year vet when he signed with us? I'd take a do-over of that in a heartbeat.

The word "pay cut" seems harsh. It's like working and getting paid but due to other employees getting jobs, you boss have to cut your money in half.

I still say that, given the current roster and the depth of the rookie crop, Ozzie cannot really pick a bad position at #16. He could pick the wrong guy - but not the wrong position (excluding ones he obviously won't go for - QB, P, K...). At #16 there will almost surely be prime talent for every position.

Totally irrelevant, but I cannot help thinking about this Dilbert strip:

Why in the world would be do that. Teams usually carry at least 3 TE. Only having two on the roster is out of the question. Spending a first rounder on a position that we have spent numerous draft picks on in the past few years, just doesn't make sense. We have too many holes to fill as it is . If we drafted a TE it wouldn't fill any of them. And by cutting all of our TE but one we would be squandering the draft picks we have made in the last few years. We would have to get real lucky if we wanted to find a staring qb because there is no way that we are going to spend an early round pick on a qb. We could take one late to use as a backup but the QBs that have a legitimate chance to be starters in their first years are going to be long gone by then

that sounds good from Gilmore, but he is too injury prone to even say that. Boyle may be the best of the group but he has his problems too. One mock draft has us drafting McDowell form Michigan State, i hope not, he is too much of a risk to take with the 16 th pick.

I like Pitta, but he is a terrible blocker (that's being nice). In my opinion, I would cut Pitta post June 1 and cut Watson. Having Boyle, Gillmore, Waller and Williams is enough. They are cheap and if Gillmore balls out, pay him or have Maxx Williams step into the starting role full time. He was a 2nd round pick.

Agree completely. I like Boyle and Gilmore, hopefully Gilmore can stay healthy. And it would certainly be nice to get any production from the second round pick. Not sure if he can block though. Or stay healthy. Our drafting........... :( I definitely think it's time to part with Watson and Pitta though
