[News] Late For Work 2/8: Examining WR Pierre Garcon As A Free-Agent Fit For Ravens

61 posts in this topic

I can't believe Hensley cited "domestic violence" as a reason we wouldn't sign Marshall. When can we admit humans make mistakes? Marshall seems way past his immature days and is the guy we should target if released. Garcon is another viable option, but I also like Aiken who makes plays when given the opportunity.

We keep talking about getting more weapons for Flacco. Helping Flacco. What if Flacco isn't that good? Maybe we should be a run first team like the Cowboys. We have already over-invested in Flacco twice and now we want to cater the offseason to Flacco. That isn't a recipe for winning.

PS: My 2012 Flacco jersey will be donated to a fan this year.

I agree that this organization has catered to Flacco a lot. Almost every year we come up short and the knee jerk response is may be if Flacco had this type of player or that type of player around him, he would be great. I think this is an illusionary thought process. It's the never ending search for nirvana. There are very few stud WRs today. The QB is very essential to a WR's success and not the other way around. For example, do you think Edelman would be a house hold name if his QB had been Flacco?

If it weren't for Flacco there would not be a SB win! You need to donate his jersey because you obviously don't cherish it.

I disagree. We would have still won without Flacco. The fact really is that without pro bowl players around him, Flacco can't even get to the playoffs let alone Super Bowl .

Tyrod would not have lead us through the playoffs and Super Bowl victory like Joe did. CASE CLOSED.

I don't think Garcon even wants to leave the Redskins. Throwing a a couple mil his way could change things but I would LOVE to see the Ravens be able to draft a WR and turn him into a stud. The jurry is still out on Perriman. We know he is soild and can make plays but it would be nice to see him become a number one or solid number two WR this year.

When a team picks you #1 you better NOT be a #2 WR.

If it has the Super Bowl patch on it I'll take it off your hands. THANKS!

It's going to be an open market. Many changes abound. If we are diligent in the pursuit of a mastermind roster we wiLL HAVE SHORTCHANGED ourselves.

Cordarrelle Patterson could be a great interview for the Ravens. Here is a kid who brings playmaking to all 3 areas of need on offense. Someone give Oz or Eric (or whomever you might know) acall and see if this is an idea.
Take a look at his numbers, he has been under utilized which means we could be getting a hidden gem. He is willing to carry the ball into danger and loves to break open. Apparently he has pretty good hands, athletic ability and good size.

How has this organization catered to Joe?  We have 2 weapons that has been drafted that actually worked out: Torrey and RR.  Joe isnt a Brady or a Manning, he does need good weapons.  Look at our SB year, we didnt have an elite WR (i dont think we need one) and Joe played lights out.  We need a well balanced team, we dont need "elite"

I mentioned Patterson awhile back, i would be happy just making him a return specialist because we really need that explosion

Problem is he doesn't want to listen to coaches, work on how to run routes or study game film. Talent alone doesn't do anything in the NFL, hence the 4th or 5th WR on the Vikings. Doesn't want to put in the work.....

I disagree. We would have still won without Flacco. The fact really is that without pro bowl players around him, Flacco can't even get to the playoffs let alone Super Bowl .

thats absurd, how many probowl recievers or TE has Joe played with. The only receiver that made the probowl during our superbowl year was Jacoby, and he made it as a return guy. In fact Joe has never played with a WR or TE that made the probowl while playing for the Ravens. in the 2012 joe had one of the best post season performances in NFL history. Has he played like that since then.... no. But it is crazy to think that we would have won the superbowl without that high level of play from Joe. You cant just rewrite history in order to fit your narrative. If Joe loses every single game for the rest of his career, it still won't take away the fact that he had a remarkable playoff run in 2012 that not just any old QB could reproduce. I am not sure if you realize this, but there is this thing called "time". Currently, we are not able to manipulate time in a non linear fashion.  And because of this it is impossible for future events to alter events that have occurred in the past. The only thing that can be altered is your perception.

Ravens-themed soccer uniforms, WHO CARES!!!!!

The name of the game is NFL Football. I guess we need to add the QB from Cleveland so he doesn't beat us next year? If we had an offense that could stay on the field we wouldn't have to worry, but we have "3 and out Flacco". A NEW QB would be great but he has to have a team and ability beat the other NFL teams, not just the Ravens, everyone does that
.
Draft time again and we need to start with a center, 2 DB's, LB and a RB. We need players who can start so Ozzie must get these players in the first 3 rounds. Trade up, trade picks, just get STARTERS or with the age of our team we are done for another 4-5 years. Ozzie has been very poor the past 4-5 years with draft choices in rounds 3 and up. His WR's and TE choices are really bad.
Maybe it's time for Ozzie to retire???

Our FO will never pay him what he wants to just be a returner. Speed or not.

NEVER would have happened. Flacco went on that epic run through the Playoffs and Super Bowl MVP.  No Flacco = No Trophy

I wouldn't see any issue with them signing him just like they did Jacoby.  He appeared in games for a couple catches here and there but was our returner,  made a huge difference as well.  But yea,  depends what he wants.

That could explain it...however the Vikings haven't had recent, or great success with WR's either. So maybe there is more to the story.

So long as we are considering cherrypicking another Viking, might as well add Adrian Peterson to the shopping cart and call it an offseason.

I would still rather see Ravens make a run at T Pryor, Physically talented (still a little raw) big WR that could shine for several years

Same here. We don't need a small overpriced aging wr

Marshal was with the Bears, Lacy was with Green Bay, Logan Ryan was with NE, its Patterson- not Peterson. get those 4 playmakers.

Harbs and marshall actually have a good relationship an he was open to trading for him in the past but IF is a big word but IF Marshall hits free agency he's 80% likely to come here but ultimately it doesn't matter who we get its how they play on the field look at chris hogan at the beginning of the year no one knew who he was so hopefully we can find some hidden gems somewhere

I like your Brandon Marshall idea.

Cruz might fit real well in with the Ravens. These 2 teams have a very, very similar system, QB and basic approach on field. Cruz is good in the slot, he is big and he is used to working with smaller speedier wideouts. Sure drop an offer at Cruz, he might be a great fit for the right price.

Cruz is washed if we're talking about a return to 2011 form. I'd love to be wrong but I see Cruz as Lee Evans 2.0 in Baltimore. A standout game, maybe two, but I don't see him dominating week-in and week-out like he's done in the past.
