[News] Eisenberg: Re-Appreciating Ravens' Super Bowl Goal-Line Stand After Watching Falcons Collapse

11 posts in this topic

The Ravens were close to suffering the same fate as the Atlanta Falcons, but Baltimore’s epic defensive stop in the final minute is the difference between how the two teams will be remembered.

I'm not a big Falcons fan but really felt for them. I so did not want Brady and the cheaters winning another SB. I was really hoping to wipe the smirk off of his face but had to settle for just a first half smirkless Brady.

Yes it is very hard to get to a SB and the Ravens have been blessed to win two in such a short period of time.

I do believe we can get there again but need quite a few players to do it. We have a good base but must build on it.

Good luck to our Ravens this coming season!

Big difference between Colin Kapernick and Brady! I'm jus sayin!

I mean you can make an argument... But that 49ers offense was rolling just as much as the Patriots was in the playoffs. I think the difference was us having a veteran defense. The Falcons defense has talent up the wazoo but they are so young and you could tell the aggressiveness fell off the cliff in the second half.

That would be true if Brady threw the ball in the end zone but they ran it in. Ravens were number one in goal line stance that year because of veterans.

I appreciate that the Ravens made the plays where the Falcons could not but there was also a big difference:

The Patriots ran the ball in at their final plays of the goal line, the 49ers chucked it up until the they ran out of downs.

Now, in overtime, the Patriots threw a dumb fade at the goal line to Bennett (who fell over and the LB deflected it) - that was sketchy. But, unlike the 49ers and the Seahawks, they had a chance to 'atone' for that mistake and run it in. Let it be a lesson to all play callers who think they're so cute, run the ball!

The Falcons can make it back to the Super Bowl if they fire their OC, fire their DC, fire their HC for not running the ball & horrible clock management. Get rid of their overpriced $100 million choke artist QB that can't win a play-off game - they can sign Ryan Mallett for 1/5 of the cost. That would free up $ so they could sign Eric Berry, Brandon Williams & Alshon Jeffery. Draft Darrell Revi...I mean Desmond King in the 1st Round, and Alpha Dawgs - DeVonte Fields & Joe Mixon. Hire Gary Kubiak, Norv Turner & Rex Ryan as coaches. Trade Tevin Coleman to the Browns for Joe Haden & a 1st Round pick. Sign Anquan Boldin & Bernard Pollard. Easily win the next 3 straight Super Bowls.....

If we had lost that SB, there would have been riots in the streets thanks to that shambolic power outage. Some pundits claimed it didn't have a massive impact as momentum was starting to turn, but the game was night and day pre and post power cut.

Come on man! Let's not keep living in the past. Its either our SB wins, or Ray Lewis or SSS or Ed Reed filling this site. Why can't we stop looking in the rear view mirror and focus instead on the road ahead? Yes it was a great stand but if it was a throw by Tom Brady instead of Kaepernik and it was Edelman instead of Crabtree, the outcome of that SB...
