I just cannot for the life of me put it on Ryan. He made incredible throws to put the Falcons in position and they'd shoot themself in the foot.

On the 20, you call a pass and take a sack. Then after that, call another pass and get a holding call.

Call a pass and Freeman totally misses his block and allows a free rusher.

And all the damn defensive penalties. My goodness. Just give the Patriots free first downs. That's never a bad idea.

Ryan made one wow play. But Julio made it bigger. 4th qtr about 4 mins left stepped up in pocket and split over and under double coverage and Julio Jones got an amazing toe tap down the sideline. Any other qb makes that throw it's incomplete. Bu only a handful could make the throw in the first place.

Not sure Joe has the touch for it, the same way Ryan can't make some throws Joe makes. But Julio is probably one of maybe 3 4 wideouts that catch that.

Bmore I don't agree with your assessment of the Atlanta offense that game against all. As I mentioned above he made one MVP type throw. The first touchdown one had nice touch as we in fairness. But he had wide open receivers all day.

Rb swing passes going 20 yards, busted coverage early 3rd. Julio Jones catching a pass behind him that had a chance at an interception.

If atlanta win I think freeman or garret get MVP.  Heck freeney was getting pressure all game, he was great as well. Ryan was probably about 5th best.

If he even just does a brady and lays down instead of taking the fumble sack they likely win.

Never once did I say Matt Ryan was the MVP. I never said he was this supernatural force that was willing the Falcons to victory. I just said he had a really good game which I will stand by.

If I had to pick a Falcons MVP, Freeman and Jarrett would have been my first two picks.

Matt Ryan was pressured on 16 of his drop backs... he had 28 drop backs. He was pressured on over 50% of his drop backs. Good golly that is a lot.

We definitely need a better pass rush next year. Don't wanna trade jimmy but I know a few teams want him bad. Some high picks might be used to get us some help.

I thought I did but clearly I need to get them checked. Or get them examine.

While the Falcons defensive collapse is hard to fathom, their offense really did nothing in the second half to help them. Other than the one TD drive Ryan and Co. stunk it up bad and gave their D no rest time whatsoever. While circumstances may not have been perfect, I would have expected much more from the guy selected as the league's MVP and that stable of weapons. Even just a little bit of production in the 4th quarter could have put the game out of reach and saved the day for them.

I agree Julio Jones would definitely have deserved the MVP much more than Matt Ryan.

But I also have to say, Tom Brady didn't have a MVP-worthy performance. He missed open receiver all game long. But NFL is so QB-centered, it was no suprise he got it

The play calling near the end was so bad. They're clearly in field goal range, why not just run the ball to drain the clock and kick the field goal? If they could have gotten that 11 point lead with two minutes left it would have been a win. Maybe I'm just used to Tucker being automatic from the 40-50 yard range, but it still seems like the obvious strategy there.

Falcons got a head start on the new OC opening and apparently hired Trestman at half time.

Save the useless minute at the end of regulation they only ran 12 plays total after scoring the second half TD, so it's really not that wild.

It's wild when you consider the amount of success they had been having running the ball on them all game.

You mean the amount of success they had running in the first half, not all game. Right?

Never once did I claim you did. You said he had a really good game.  I disagreed. He made one nfl MVP type throw and a couple of good ones. Everything else, maybe 75 prevent of his completions was to wide open men.

I expected a lot more from a guy that was voted league MVP.

He wasn't the MVP imo. That was Rodgers. But that's another argument.

They ran 5 times after the half, and had yet another nice run from Freeman in there.  Not every run is going to get you yards of course, but they had been running the ball real well up until that point.  The larger point here is the untimeliness of their choices not to run.  2nd and 1 when trying to run the clock and get at least a FG to try to put the game out of reach.

Welp, this has been a pretty terrible season, no Ravens in the playoffs, one interesting playoff game, and a meltdown for the ages to gift the Pats a Super Bowl. At this rate it is probably a good thing there won't be any football on for a while

For the record, I don't think Ryan lost them that game. That was defense first and play calling second. I just don't think he done enough to win it either. Players safe, not scared, but safe.

yup.

3rd and 1 they pass it which leads to a fumble a great field position for the pats.

then when in FG range pass it 3 times in a row which lead to first taking a 12 yard sack for a loss, followed by a holding pen taking them out of FG range followed by an incomplete pass lol.

quite curious on what you wanted him to do considering he pressured on most of his drop backs lol

THE NFL IS RIGGED! Just like the WWE is! What good does do to suspend or fine somebody?  Consequences mean nothing. So what Break the rules or break the law consequences doesn't mean a damn thing. You're supposed to learn something you did was wrong. What is Tom Brady and Bill Belichick setting examples for our children? All kids gonna do is tell the authorities so what? If Tom Brady and Bill Belichick doesn't have to deal with consequences i don't have to deal with them nether so!

So let me get this straight.

Goodell who handed down the suspensions and faught to uphold then fixed the game so the team he suspended would win.

Is that your claim?

For real?
