[News] Ravens Explain Type Of Receiver They Want

37 posts in this topic

It does not matter what type of receiver we get (if any) until Flacco gets rid of those rose colored Pita glasses and starts waiting for plays to develop then all others will not be utilized. Flaccos had the "get rid of the ball as fast as i can" jitters most of the season and continually just sought out Pita. I guess between the O'line not creating a pocket for him and the fact that he was just coming off of an injury it is to be expected. But we need a safe and sound Flacco which will help improve us immensely.

Someone that can get open against single man coverage, can actually run routes other than go routes and can actually catch the ball when thrown to him.

The same Eric DeCosta 3 minute interview spun into 4 articles? Either you're a genius or struggling for material Mink!

i agree for the most part but flaccos biggest need is a successful running game and if they have that then the passing game will be there when needed.

We have two receivers that can fill that job description...Aiken and Camp.

Pick up Kendall Wright in free agency, draft Corey Davis in the first, Christian McCaffrey in the 2nd (might have to move up 5 or 6 picks) and the Ravens will have a prolific offense for the next 5-10 years.

Add your defensive backs, o-lineman, lb's with the remainder of the picks.

Simple

Aiken is not under contract with the Ravens, so we don't have him.

we struggled running the ball up the middle and in short yardage situations. with castillo gone and some upgrades on the line and schemes the running game will flourish

i do not think aiken has felt the love from the ravens so he will most likely leave and go to new england where he will flourish and camps health unfortunately cannot be trusted. wouldnt mind seeing us go after kenny britt and than take another chance on a receiver in the mid rds. hopefully perriman and moore get it going. if maxx and boyle are ready to go than we can always put pitta in the slot.

Yes, we could put Pitta in the slot and he will set an NFL record for receptions from Joe. We have so many TE's with potential. I was going to say maybe Waller in the slot, but he's bigger than your prototype slot guy.

No, draft high for the defense. Turn us into a number one defense and turn Joe into a game manager. That approach worked before!

Mike Wallace, Breshad Perriman and Chris Moore. All three of those targets can stretch the field? Just when did that happen in 2016? Which game?

We have to face the fact that Ozzie can't pick Wr's. Bolden was great, Smith OK, but a trade/free agent.
Go with the TE from Ala., Howard and cut two of the others, even Pitta. He's due for another break down.

Get O Linemen, 2 CB's, LB and a RB. If the line can hold for another 2-3 seconds maybe "old 3 and out Flacco" could actually find a receiver. Then a good RB can help control the clock. Everyone knows how poor the DB's are.

There is a difference between speed and being able to get separation.  Way too often our WR could not get separation from the corners and so it didn’t matter if they were 10 yards down field or 40.

Hard to stretch the filed when you give up on the run in games. Thats why I think we didn't see it. Other teams DC would probaly say they threw it 12 times in a row lets drop the FS and SS.

I'm starting to like the idea of Howard more and more. Flacco loves to use his TE and this guy looks like he could be a monster.

Just find another WR like Campy that can stay healthy Lol but the play calling, routes and throws gotta get better! "ROUTES" get WRs open not only the player but Joe struggled with quick releases and Brady and Big Ben kill teams with them! Is why Trestman is outta here!

I think it has to do more with not having a good WR coach to develop WRs than Ozzie picking them. There's a reason why the Squealers and Pats always develop good WRs - look at the resume of their WR coaches.....Antonio Brown was not very good his 1st two years in the league and it took Edelman 4 years to develop.

Well, he can't carry the team, but he could manage it, if asked to do so.

You're right! He coughed up another on pass rushers! At least his better and smarter half Garrett is a lot more original and thoughtful in his articles.

Tell someone else besides Oz and DaCosta to make the WR pick- please. Because we know what happens when we draft WR- they all suck

A "complimentary" receiver. How hard is that to define. Why does the article writer follow that up by asking, "Does that mean a number one target...?"

Um...no. You call that a "primary" target or a "number one receiver."

A "complimentary" guy is a guy that is a second or third guy on your depth chart. A chain mover type like this is what Boldin has been in the last few years as what little speed he had has slipped. A sure handed guy that makes tough catches and isn't easy to tackle. Or maybe it is that guy they are hoping Keenan Reynolds and Campanaro can be.

Since we lost Smith, Wallace may be gone, and Aiken is all but sure to go, that doesn't leave the Ravens with a #1 guy, so to compliment that...?

Maybe they want a guy that will come in and say, "Hey, you look really good in that uniform. What a nice helmet and I love this logo. Boy, the new grass field here in Baltimore is great. Coach Harbaugh wears some good cologne. Ozzie Newsome is so smart."

Yes, the complimentary would be the latter guy.

My question: Who is our number 1 guy? Don't even say Wallace or Perriman.
