[News] Ravens Could Draft More Than One Cornerback Early

45 posts in this topic

Assistant General Manager Eric DeCosta said the Ravens won't be pigeonholed into picking a cornerback at No. 16 overall, but Baltimore does believe there will be talent to consider in each of the top two rounds.

That is a whole lot of words that amount to me knowing nothing more than I knew before reading the article.

A CB would be great but let's remember that a strong pass rush makes CB's better. We can't afford another season where opposition QB's have all day to pass... especially in the 4th quarter with the game on the line.

Washington’s Sidney Jones looks good. Very fluid, good speed and ball skills, he can add few more pounds to match up against big receivers, which he can do a little in training camp.

Pointless article. No real inside info, but I'm assuming corners will get graded more favorably in the second and third round though.

First round targets:

Lattimore, Jones, Wilson

trade backs:

Humphrey

Second Round Targets;

Conley, Lewis, White, King.

Trade back:

Kevin King

What a great pick would be to grab Likely who played for the Terps in the 2nd or 3rd round. We need football players with skills. he will recover from his ACL injury and as a corner back he can return punts. Just saying he could be a sleeper in the draft because of the injury and he is in our backyard. Pick two CB's in the early rounds.

February, March, and almost all of April...
That nearly 3-month void of nothing after the Super Bowl just sucks. Why doesn't the NFL add 2 games to the schedule, extend the season one more month and give each team an additional bye? Make these guys work a little harder for their pay.

depending on which positions are addressed in free agency which i believe will be wr, s and o-line i see us going cb or edge rusher at 16.

do we get a 4th round pick if we trade down 1 spot????

if so i would trade down one spot and collect 4th rounders.

If we had 4 legit corners, they would create sacks on their own and we would have the proper depth to handle an injury.

We would have to trade down two spots to land a 4th Rounder. I would rather draft an elite player if available vs. trading back. Ozzie has drafted Stanley, Mosley, Ngata, Suggs, J. Lewis, Travis Taylor (BUST), McAlister, Starks, Boulware, and Ogden with his picks in the top 17. Most of those guys were Pro Bowlers when it actually meant something.

he would make for a solid returner for us. some sights have him listed at 5'7 so if that is the case im not sure what success he would have playing cb in the nfl but if he is 5'9 than that makes him a value pick.

Whatever they say they will or might do will be the complete opposite on draft day...proven science

If the Best Player Available at #16 is a TE, do we take him. This is a test....

It's a hard time of year: cold, no holidays, no football, taxes. Wish i liked basketball, but i don't.

If it is OJ Howard I think Ozzie would have the pick in under 30 seconds.

I'm a little afraid of Eric DeCosta becoming the GM. He seems like "a no personality robot".

O-line is a bigger need. We have two good backs. Use them more.

Not good enough, obviously. The O-line was healthy at times and the RB's still lacked the ability to develop plays. Sure the Raw talent exists, but the ability to make the big play, to develop a run, to see the play in front of them and gain first downs did not happen, certainly not enough. Dixon may need one more year to develop into an every down back, I don't see West ever being an every down back. So the Ravens should get a 1000yd RB for the Super Bowl 52 win. GO ahead and get a shut down corner, and draft 2 CB's as well. And a Guard. I agree with that too.
so lets recap-
Ravens-
Get a RB in FA
Get a CB via Trade or FA
Get a WR in FA
Draft 2 CB
Draft 1 Guard
Draft 1 Center
Draft 1 LB/S
Draft 1QB
Draft 1 WR

Keep FA- Williams, Wagner, Webb, Juice, Wallace, Guy, Urschel, option- Pitta, Pierce, Hurst, Jenson, Jernigen, Campi, Cox

trade/waive or release- Doom, Zutta, Aiken( for Williams and Wagner)
Watson, Arrington, Elam, Powers, Wright,

Lost- Orr- Smith Sr

Feb - Scouting Combine. Franchise Tagging begins

March - Free Agency Begins

April - Pro Days, plus FA is still under way. Followed by the draft.

The NFL never stops.

Well, Ozzie was a TE, so he would know. But that would give us a few TE's for trade bait.

What team has 4 legit corners, its not that easy to find "legit" corners

You completely ignore a pass rusher?

What RB in FA?

What CB in FA?

Agree. Hate to say it but I think Pitta is going to be playing somewhere else next season.

You have the right idea, but backwards. They have pass rushers, plenty of them actually. Secondary cannot force the QB to hold the ball long enough for pass rush to have reasonable amount of time to get home. When WR's are not open you can expect many more hurries, sacks and even turnovers. Also at this point ti will be easier to upgrade the talent of the secondary versus the pass rush. The really good pass rushers will either be gone inside the top 10, or in FA will command too much to justify without some major roster moves.

That being said, to those who keep saying move on from Dumervil you are delirious to think you can just replace him. He was banged up after a long season when Suggs was out and he got all the attention. Now that he is healthy again with no more lingering issues, people start the non sense talk.

Cyprein is certainly possible! I don't think there is a chance that the Cheifs would part ways with Berry. He is just too valuable

I would love a trade back to get Feeney, then get a second out of it and use that pick to nab Pocic or Eiflein. We would have a top 3 line.

Good corners help out the pass rush. We drafted multiple pass rushers last year but we can draft one more this year n the middle rounds. We need to draft atleast two corners in the top half of the draft. We need to redo the secondary with young CBs that can grow in our system.
