Ray Lewis "definitely looking into" coaching--hijacked version

27 posts in this topic

I seriously hope that Steve,  Ozzie,  and John have an offer on the table for Ray when he's ready.  Maybe it'll be when his kids are done with college but at the very least it's a great way to sell some tickets. I know that I'm going to get slack from some members saying its time to move on, it's a new era, blah blah blah. I feel like bringing Ray and possibly Ed back as coaches would be the coolest thing ever. These guys are fan favorites that'll never die in the history of the Ravens, even the league. What could possibly hurt in bringing these legends in as assistant coach to their respective positions? Maybe their reps? Their egos? Even those two things seem indestructible. Sorry for the rant but Ray's interview got me on the train of thought. Thoughts? Opinions? Hate?

Nobody is ever gonna be allowed on this staff if they compromise the kingdom of his highness John Harbaugh.

Here we flipping go. I'm eagerly awaiting the swarm of crazies insisting we fire everyone to bring in Ray and Reed.

"Organized chaos is back," they'll say. "Ray will keep everyone straight. Can't wait to play smashmouth, Ravens football again."

Make the ravens great again! Hire ray Lewis as HC AND GM, with Reed as a D.C. He won't be soft and will call man coverages unlike Pees and he will blitz a lot more!

Why not bring Jamal back as OC?  We'll finally get that smashmouth running game back! That's Ravens football! Run the ball and play defense!

That means we should hire JO to be oline coach as well. Contribute massively to the run game.

Not only that but Ray would trade that bum Flacco away. He's just "a guy"

We'll finally get all those alpha male types back. We won't have a locker room full of yes men.

Haha well thanks for the hate guys. Anyways, I'm in no way shape or form asking for any of the foolishness mentioned to happen. However I would be interested in giving both of them a starting gig. They both were students of the game and I'm sure they have plenty of knowledge and know how to pass along..  Both could possibly become good coaches imo

people yearn for the days of old where we alternated 6-10 and 10-6 seasons for like 8 years, give or take a game or 2 here and there.

it doesnt make sense. we were less respected as a franchise than jacksonville, our qbs routinely threw for under 2000 yards and double digit picks and <20 touchdowns, and they did this WITH A GOOD OL! its hilarious, its like teenagers who think vintage stuff is cool saying "i wish i grew up in the 50s" yeah because everyone loved polio right?

seriously, why anyone wants to go back to those days so badly is beyond me, we were a joke of a team with a good defense that was susceptible to big plays because we blitzed the freaking house in our base package on a majority of snaps.

ive been a ravens fan since they came to baltimore, but i was 4 at the time, so i wont count myself as a weekly viewing fan until around 03-04. i remember the billick/boller/anthony wright years, i remember organized chaos, i remember watching our defense swarm the line of scrimmage on every snap and you hoped like hell the qb had to hold on to the ball for one more pump, i remember losing to jake delhommes panthers and jake plummers broncos in our 13-3 season because you cant stop a high powered passing attack by rushing 8 every other snap, i remember holding peyton manning to ZERO touchdowns in the AFCDG in our own house as the 2nd seed and losing because jamal lewis couldnt carry the team on his back.

dear ravens fans who recall those miserable days: why would you ever want that back?

dear ravens fans who werent around for those days: trust me, we have it better now.

jax was a good team up until the very early 2000s, then they became average for a while, but they still have always been the smallest market in the league and they were a more respected franchise not because they were previously good, but because there was a lot of reason to hate the ravens as a franchise. for starters we were miserable to watch due to our pitiful offense, our only quality player on offense was dealing with a drug related jail sentence, our head coach made a spectacle of himself everytime he was on camera, we had the loudest mouths but .500 was considered a successful season, it was just sad.

our D was feared but the team was still a joke, outside of 00 and 06 our defense was never so dominant that teams just lost all hope as soon as we took a lead, all those other seasons in the billick era our defense was very good but nothing spectacular, and our offense was so bad that teams really didnt fear our defense, they just knew they had to play through some hard hits and get double digits on the board and they would likely win because our offense was so horrible.

I loved Ray as a player, but for me his ego is too big for him to ever become an effective coach. It seems that anything he does or says has to circle back to him. No matter how much football knowledge he has, that personna would never work on a coaching staff.

Bad days for sure but they were both better than what we did the past 2 years. We need to step it up or else we have no room to talk in making fun of those days

I've hated Ray Lewis since he retired. He's been annoying on TV and way too me me me...No ray it's not about you. I think Ray would be an overbearing coach.

I've said it before ... look around the NFL and in all sports and list out the hall of fame players who are good coaches. It is a pretty short list. Could Ray become one? We can look back to when he was the guy that everyone on this defense had to answer to for effort and no one wanted to ever let him down. From that perspective - as a motivator of men - that is a proven trait that would likely translate to a coaching position, but there is more to coaching that being a motivator.

Time will tell, but I'm not holding my breath.

Ray Lewis would be a very nice coach but Harb's would not be able to control Lewis so this would not even be possible. They may put on a good dog and pony show like they attempted to land him but in the end we live and die by the Harb's recklessness and great mind as a offensive brain child.
