21 posts in this topic

Instead of asking, 'Why me?', the 24-year-old linebacker is asking 'What's next?' Hearing that come from a young man whose career dreams had just been dashed, his show of perspective had many in the room near tears.

I knew I was impressed with Orr by his play on the field. However, I didn't know much about him as a person/teammate. It is clear that Orr is just as highly regarded off the field. I am even more impressed with this Raven today, realizing that this player with talent is also a man with such grace and character. Ravens fans will certainly miss him. Good luck Zachary

WHAT A MAN. Who will replace Zachary Orr??? No one will replace him. They will just come after him. He's a bright star and should be an example to many that your dreams can be cut short at a moments notice... You just move on to your next dream.

Damn, I thought he retired at his own will for personal reasons. Finding out he has a rare neck condition is saddening, but he will still be successful in life as long as he keeps his head up and stays with god. Probably even being a coach for us.

Best wishes to Zach. Judging by the opinions of those who know him, things will work out, for him- no matter what lies ahead...

A truly remarkable young man indeed. I knew people came in all stripes and shapes, but this is one that is going to have everlasting staying power. He's just a total man, one that any father would like his son to grow up and become.

Its hard to replace his character but I suppose his production can be somewhat replaced either through free agency or with the potential rise of either Correa or Patrick Onwuasor. I hope we go after a linebacker free agent like a Zach Brown replacing Zach Orr.

What a blow to our defense. We have been cursed. Starting with the Ray Rice punch heard round the world, to the Laramy Tunsil mask video, Suggs injuries, losing Kubiak. It's been a downhill fall with no end in sight.

You can't help but not feel for this young man. Watching his press conference, I was impressed with the way he handled himself. I have no doubt he will succeed wherever his path leads him.

This is the type of football player you want your children to emulate. Such a blow for the Raven's not only losing a rising star, but a man with a whole lot of class. With his attitude and determination, I'm positive that he will succeed in whatever endeavor he puts his mind to. You will be remembered in Baltimore, brother.

Fine player and even better person. The Ravens would do well to keep him in the organization in some worthwhile capacity. We need more like him. A few more like him and we'll be back in the Super Bowl again soon.

I am SO thankful to the Lord for watching over Zachary Orr all the years he has played football. As he said, he saw, for himself, what could have happened to him when he saw his high school teammate be paralyzed on the field. I'm glad that Zach realizes just how blessed he's been. Thank you So much, Jesus! I really hope that the Ravens organization offers him some kind of an opportunity in another capacity. This former UFA, who worked so hard to be all that he could be, certainly deserves that. I wish you the very best life possible, Zach. And, once again, Praise the Lord that his condition was discovered when it was.
