In fairness though, how many interceptions did we get from non-secondary players and Weddle?

Mosley 4

Weddle 4

Orr 3

Jernigan 1

So, we got 12 interceptions from either players not coached directly by Frazier, or that weren't a part of the abysmal INT total from last year. In fact, the front 7 accounted for almost as many INT's as the entire secondary combined, including Weddle.

Outside of that group, we still had 6 INT's. That isnt to say that Frazier didnt have a hand in the overall emphasis on creating turnovers, and so probably had some impact on the entire defense - but, i think that was an organizational emphasis to work a lot more on creating and executing turnovers more so than it was Frazier doing anything special to "teach" it.

Not saying Im happy to see him go.. because I'm not. The more quality, experienced coaches on staff the better - and this is certainly a loss. Just saying that i think its impossible right now to judge the overall impact Frazier had individually...

Aside from the INT's i pointed out... Weddle coming in obviously had a huge impact and wouldve regardless of Frazier being here. Not to mention the fact that our secondary was playing really well down the stretch in '15 before Frazier got here. And the fact that when Jimmy was out, the secondary regressed big time. Im sure Frazier had a hand in Tavon playing so well, but outside of him our depth at both corner and safety really disappointed. Wright regressed, and other than occasionally Powers, no one else impressed.

Hate to see him go, but i wouldnt have wanted him as DC like some seem to want. And, until proven otherwise I think his role in the improvement of the secondary is somewhat overblown. Weddle coming in and Jimmy finally being healthy enough to play to his potential had more to do with it than anything, imo.

The main thing I do think he deserves a TON of credit for was the play of Tavon Young. Yea, he was talented to begin with and prob wouldve been successful regardless, but he far exceeded expectation, and Frazier is known for his attention to detail and ability to coach technique. So, I will give him that and that should be huge for us going forward.... so i thank him for his contribution and helping to develop what looks to be a very good to great young player for us - but in terms of overall secondary play, i think we'll be just fine so long as we have Weddle and a healthy Jimmy.

Im sure he was involved with all positions during his time here even though his title says secondary coach. Just like how newly hired Greg Roman won't only work with tight ends.

This sucks just as much as Juan's leaving excited me. The secondary excelled with him coaching them, but now who knows? So John recruits one 'fired' Bill in Roman and Pegula retaliates by hiring 2 'current' Ravens coaches! Don't mess with the 'Pegula'!

How the hell could he retaliate? Roman was fired. Lmao.

You don't think our secondary improved on turnovers this season???  We had 18 INT's this season...  We had 6 last year.

2 by the secondary last year, and 10 by the secondary this year.

4 from a AllPro named Weddle. So subtract that and we got 6 by the secondary, which would rank 24th. Just saying.

4 from a all pro that hasn't really had quite that many interceptions since 2012 and if you  want  to count the near interceptions he dropped then lets say 2011. So  overall that makes for about four years since Eric Weddle has had quite  that many interceptions  which I think Leslie Frazier should get credit for.

Like the idea of both of them--solid track records. Cecil made me think any way Harbaugh brings in Jeff Fisher in some weird defensive role. Not sure if he is hanging it up but Harbaugh does not seem to mind having old HC on his staff and if Fisher is wanting back in the game Harbaugh may be one of the few with the confidence to have such a coach on his staff. I am not a huge fan of Fisher just a conversation piece really..

I thought about Jeff Fisher as well and he always was able to find talented corne rbacks where ever he was as a head coach but not sure if he  willi be willing to take a  position coach job,

Yeah the time for Pees to be gone was now - not later. Now with Frazier gone there is no longer anything to counter Pees' vanilla D. Nor is there any viable in-house replacement when things go south next season. Great job FO. Great job.

I think it's about Harbs' decision after all; 2017 is his last chance to prove his abilities to turn 8 wins into 11 wins, preference to Steve's statement.

Steve trusts John to put together to right coaching staffs to sail this team to promise land and we have to see about that.

John's contract has 2 years left and if his 2017 season returns to 8-8, Steve won't renew his contract......

Congrats to Leslie Frazier but I didn't want to see him as DC here. Not with the Tampa 2 underneath mindset. To all the people that gave Frazier complete credit for the improvement in the turnover dept why is it on the players for the defenses 4th qtr collapses. I'm not saying Frazier wasn't a good DB coach cuz I believe he is and has most certainly helped but this is hypocrisy at its finest.

Hewitt may be a decent option but did he pick enough of Frazier's brain and gain the respect of our players and show improvement from 2 yrs ago.. Somebody mentioned Chuck Cecil earlier. Big fan. Could also be DC in waiting.

The problem is it's hard to tell apart the joke posts from the serious ones sometimes, so there are serious ones on that level.

Didn't want him as our DC at all, but the man is a heck of a DBs coach. It's definitely a blow.

We better sign a good one soon. We need all our coaches to dig into their rolodexes and get a quality coach here ASAP.

Probably Chris Hewitt who's currently the assistant defensive back coach.. Not sure how much of  year will do but he did learn under Leslie Frazier .

Wasn't he the DB coach in 2015?

Yes

Have to wonder if the Ravens pursue that route again. Things weren't majorly positive, but Jimmy wasn't healthy and Wright did show marked improvement

our starting secondary was jimmy smith, shareece wright, kendrick lewis, will hill, lardarius webb - four of those guys are still on the team (might not be for much longer) but only 2 of them still start (and webby could be gone this offseason) which shows you the dearth of quality he was dealing with

I'd be shocked if Webb is not here next season.

It makes sense since he has experience and worked with Leslie Frazier. He knows Dean Pees system and if he is promoted then I guess The Ravens assistant special team coach Chris Norton will  be promoted to assistant defensive back coach especially since he's a former NFL safety.

I hope he is.

I am down to only two current player jerseys.  Webb and Sizzle.

I just don't understand people having this desire to cut him, similar to Zuttah.

The Ravens struggle to find a competent replacement for Reed/Birk and then the Ravens find them and fans want to get rid of them. It's like, what?

Only because he is not the best.

Well there goes our hopes of havin a top tier defense again.

Better load up on pass rush and offensive linemen and receivers otherwise we could be in big trouble.

Did you just say trade back and get both Harris and Lawson/Anderson ? That is what I'm thinking over here now

Yeah I feel like fans grew up seeing Ed Reed, Ray Lewis, Johnathan Ogden, Matt Birk.... List goes on.... For so long that they feel like it is easy to find another player at that level. Fact is in 2013 the Ravens lost so much talent and so many of those players are going to be hall of famers... Reed, Lewis, Boldin, and Birk will all probably be hall of famers. Zuttah, Webb, and even players like Powers fans want out the door because they feel like they are easily replaceable when that is far from the case.

I don't know that any reasonable fan wants powers gone - I don't think it's unreasonable to expect the team to pick up the occasional great player which it looked like we hadn't for a while - we now have a couple of burgeoning potential stars in cj and Ronnie and the hope is that we continue to find gems

i think we all realise it isn't easy but give Ozzie's former propensity to find these stars it's a little disappointing when you don't get a new toy to play with as it were every year

Frazier's competence allowed him to take over some of the defensive duties up in the box allowing Pees to coach from the sideline.  That's going to be missed as well.

Yeah that is true and I actually like Dean Pees on the sideline more than upstairs in the box. It's one of the reason why I hope The Ravens get experienced secondary coach especially one that  has been successful as a defensive coordinator before like Ray Horton.
