Harbaugh wont get rid of juan no matter what juans coaching is why romans here I actually think roman will help with run game

i have blasted juan numerous times but as far as developing lineman he does a very good job. he is just not suited to run the offensive line as a whole. the o-line needs to get bigger and more physical. i think zuttahs time here is over with both oz and harbs saying they want a bigger and stronger line

I agree af north aint for finesse guys I want a maller

Completely disagree that Castillo has done a very good job developing linemen. Yanda was already great before Castillo got here, so IMO Juan doesn't really deserve any credit there. KO- the 3 years Castillo "developed" him, KO never played at an elite level. Then KO goes to Oakland, plays better than he ever has, and promptly gets selected as an All Pro. Zuttah, Monroe- neither of those guys improved under Castillo (Monroe got so bad he ended up retiring and advocating pot). I admire your optimism but I respectfully disagree about Castillo.

Hopefully, having the same OC two years in a row will help the O-line. Now, they don't have to focus on learning new terminology, blocking schemes, etc. Surprised how often everyone talks about the effects on a QB having to learn a new system & terminology but nobody talks about the O-line having to do the same. Blocking assignments are every bit as complicated as WR progressions.

The fact that Roman sees Rex Ryan as a "buffoon" of a head coach tells me that he at least has some sense.....

This team makes so many irrelevant moves. To many cooks in the kitchen. We need 1 O coach and D coach not 100 assistants. Just paying people unnecessary money.

another coaching staff hire who is a Harbaugh insider. cameron, spagnoulo, castillo, roman, trestman, yada yada. i have not seen one quality player developed under any of these brilliant coaching moves. in fact, i will venture to say the majority of them decline once they are brought in. let's hope it goes poorly again for Harbs in 2017 so we can shut the door and get someone in here who can coach.

Good Luck

O-line just needs some tweaking......and I think West and Dixon have all the potential of being really good RB's. Dixon set a record in college!

Ravens generally move new coaches in then fire existing one's. Oh they never say that up front but it has happened over and over. Who will be leaving? HC, OC?

When the Ravens get 7 yards per carry but still throw the ball makes this move just plain stupid ! Assistant to bum coaches.

Here me out here on my dream/fantasy/ideal unfolding of events. Roman hired as TE coach and not OL coach... Titles don't mean much I suppose, but I have to think John wants to utilize the plethora of tight ends this year since our WR corps will be lacking, or maybe, less than ideal, with or without an additional "complimentary" receiver. Roman has been a TE coach in the past and our tight ends are not very good at blocking sans Boyle and Gillmore. He also got a lot of production out of Vernon Davis in SF (13 TDs). OJ Howard in rd 1 if that is the plan, he is a unique talent (watch him go 1v1 blocking Myles Garrett in the TA&M game) and he could be special, maybe if Alabama ever used him. In that situation go two tight ends all year, another staple of Romans offenses.....

Ah well, a guy can dream right?

This guy's numbers are inflated has always had a QB that runs a lot. This team is getting really desperate I hate to say. I can see Roman and Marty head butting each other every week. Don't like the move.

That is a pretty valid point. Good food for thought. I really do like Dixon as a 3 down back for the Ravens. He will make a difference next season!

And Juan Castillo officially leaves Baltimore to become run game coordinator for the Buffalo Bills. The weird 'musical chairs' nature of the NFL amuses me...

It sure does.

Hooray a guy that is actually better suited at WR. He doesn't block and Joe is completely fixated on him. Not much of a TE really.

I'm referring to those young people you know Waller who would rather be suspended. Williams whom at this point is a complete enigma and Gillmore that sat out half the season with chapped lips..those guys.

I think the young TE's can be pretty good with Watson as mentor and Roman as coach. But you have an interesting idea there - make Pitta a slot receiver.

For a fan base that thinks this team does not do anything right I think we are very
lucky. To be 31-33 in the last four years is not that bad. Just appreciate what we
have because their are many teams that wish very hard they could be where we
are at this point in time. Just another point of view. Now let the complaining continue.

You're right in that we should be grateful and appreciate that we have been lucky enough to have the record we have. Without couple of FA signings like Smith Sr. and Weddle we might as well be 3-61 right now. But by no account should we be proud or satisfied with much that we have done in recent years. Being pleased with a sub .500 record is the attitude of losers.

This looks more like another friend of the family than a fix of the issue.

Amen. It's the Harbaugh Way. Though, I read that Castillo is reportedly leaving the team. So I guess there IS a limit on the number of Harbaugh's friends Biscotti and Oz allow to hire.

Now all they need is a TE that can stay on the field

He stayed on the field but he's a liability. He just CANNOT block. It hurts the team. And it's not like he's a a gronk-like reciever, or even close for that matter. He should be a part time player that is only used for receiving and he should be making about 25% of what he does

You just said our record over the past for years is "not that bad"....................

Pretty sure this franchise and the fans do not aim for "not that bad"

I think this is a good hire. Castillo is gone, which all the fans seemed to hate. And Roman has a proven track record with the ground game. Albeit he had two good option qbs, but he still succeeded. The fact that he's not even the OC should allow him plenty of time and energy to not only help Marty out and inject his influence there, but he should also have plenty of time to work with the line and our backs. He's a knowledgeable guy with a successful track record. And he's now taking on a smaller role than he has in the past. I like it. The number one thing that will make Flacco look better ( besides a true number 1 which we don't want to seem to get) is a maulin run game. Dixon is a freakin stud. He was ridiculous in the end of that Pitt game. Let's get a center, and let Roman get that run game going. We need to add a CB,C, and WR

He did not hurt the team how could you say that the guy caught the ball made several 1str downs this is what I keep saying in my posts the COACHES on this team do not use personal correctly on off or def if I wanted to run the ball I would NOT have pitta in games blocking a smart coach would bring in an extra lineman and don't tell me its to fool the other team because everybody knows the ravens are not creative I can sit home on my couch and tell what plays are coming

You're right, it's on the coaches. But it would also be nice if he tried and gave serious effort at it, even to be average. It's not like he's physically unable. But yeah, our offensive play calling and coaching overall last year was really embarrassing and extremely predictable as you pointed out

I'm excited about Roman coming here and can't wait to see what he does with the Oline once we restock it.

I disagree. Wagner and KO definitely got better and I'm willing to bet Webb and Tavon Young got better under Frazier.

Pretty sure he was referring to all the TEs we've drafted since Pitta. All 3 have missed significant time either due to injury or idiotic PED use.

Correct. All those picks and not one consistent complete TE basically the same mold as their WR picks

Regardless of how anyone here feels about how the new coaching staff is panning out, remember, the biggest complaint this year was about our coaches. They are bringing in new guys and trying to improve on last year as we have begged them to do. As far as hiring "friends", the NFL is a small world with a small pool of people to work with. You want guys with NFL experience and a proven track record and I believe we're bringing in "Smarts" and "fresh eyes" into our coaching staff and also remember, the main bosses are still in place in Harbs, Ozzie, Pees and Mornhinweg . We keep continuity where we need it and added a few new faces to stir things up. We now have 2, Offensive coaches on board.
I seriously don't know how anyone can blast our new hires before anyone even see's one minute of what they can do here. This is a team game and our team just got better IMHO.
For some of you, think of it this way, Biscotti wants to win as much as the rest of us do and I'm sure they will do everything in their power to do so so, don't sweat the small stuff!
If hiring Roman is the worst thing that happens to you this year, consider yourself very lucky.
