[News] Late For Work 1/9: Who Should Stay And Who Should Go Among Aging Ravens Veterans?

102 posts in this topic

Keep NT – Brandon Williams, and even Mallet, clear house on anyone over age 27. Draft for size and speed with speed the most important factor. Our DB's are just short and slow. Our receivers scare NO One and for gods sake find a RB. Number 9 with ALA. would be a good choice, BIg, Fast something we haven't had since 2000. Just think what might have happened it we could have killed another 3-4 minutes in the last game with the Steelers. Lost to the Raiders buy dumb coaching calls. That's was with at best a 8 & 8 Team. Don't forget that Flaaco just stinks.

First off, Suggs should not be on this list. It's disrespectful to imply that the Ravens would cut an all-time Ravens great who is still performing at a high level to save a paltry $1mil. (which really isn't $1mil since you have to spend money to replace the position)

Jettison Arrington and Dumervil. Cut Webb with plans to resign him after he 'tests' the market and isn't offered half of what he's set to earn next year. Keep Lewis as insurance if Webb isn't back and then cut Lewis if Webb comes back. Have Watson and Pitta compete and then cut the loser of that competition after
June 1.

Keep Wallace. Keep Zuttah unless a C can be found and waive him after June 1 if the position is upgraded. I can't speak to Shareece Wright but my sense is he should be kept. He seems to play a lot better when Jimmy Smith is playing at the other corner, but what do I know.

Cut Lewis, Arrington and Wright. There are all terrible and not worthy of a Ravens jersey.

Also cut Zuttah. Re-sign Williams and Wagner.

Suggs shouldn't be on the list, to begin with.......dude had been playing with a broken arm for half of the season; if he is in full strength, QB will scream for help like a little girl......

New blood is needed badly. And someone who can accurately choose the new blood, too. Nothing about the present crew is sacred. You gotta' know when to cut bait and fish. How many times we see these Ravens just standing on the field and watching a big play unfold and do nothing. Too smug. Too secure. Fire 'em all.

Biggest error we made when evaluating Kyle Boller out of Cal was justifying low comp % by criticizing the talent he had around him. That's about 14 years too late. That draft pick set back the team 5 years. Thankfully we had good drafts in 2006 thru 2008. We could of used the 2004 pick we gave up on Vince Wolfolk or been in position for Ben Rothlisberger.

Get rid of all except Suggs and Wallace.. All the rest (not pitta) are below average , low rent players that only cost you wins , no playmakers for next year on this list.

Zuttah is the worst player on the team by far. His missed blocks, OLE style blocking, never looks for second level blocks, horrible!!!! THink about it, if we have the best guard on one side, and a rookie that everyone is raving about on the other, why do we lead the NFL in up the middle pressures. One, is because Joe cant step up on the pocket if there is none. The opposite reason why ours stink, we cant get pressure up the middle. The other is Zuttah has passed his prime, he was a stop gap from not having a plan during the GIno days. Should have been gone, we should have had options.

Well, we have 18 TEs on the roster, so maybe start there. Then move onto a secondary that has a bunch of pine riders who SUCK and should not even be on the practice squad. Then get rid of doom - he's useless. We all saw how inept he was when Suggs was out last season; and then this season, well, not much different.

Good teams are built from the trenches out. We are in good shape with Yanda & Wagner on one side. Adding Stanley & Lewis to the left also puts us in good shape there. We do need a Matt Birk - like center and also some depth. We have the tight ends. With Dixon and West we have a chance for a running game. We need to get back to pounding the rock. It takes the pressure off Flacco to carry the team, which he cannot do. But he can QB the team to success. I am not sure about the OL and offensive coaching. We should be able to make the playoffs.

I'm not too high on the idea of resigning B. Williams anymore either. The dude flat out disappeared in the last quarter of the season. He's going to cost way too much anyways, then he'll get signed by another team, then under perform.

This is a No Brainer! Keep Suggs and Wallace! Restructure Pitta's contract!

I feel confident in Judon taking Dooms place with KC and Kafusi for insurance! This is a No Brainer! Keep Suggs and Wallace! Restructure Pitta's contract!

I feel confident in Judon taking Dooms place with KC and Kafusi for insurance! (Saves 6Mil)

Draft a center and allow our draft pick and Zuttah battle it out for the starting job. Cut Zuttah if it's even close! (Saves 3.5Mil)

Cut Webb and start Levine! Can't be any worse! (Saves 5.5Mil)

Arrington/Lewis/Watson/Wright will not be missed! (Saves 10.9Mil) Tavon Young starts Corner!

Total Saved 25.9 Mil with minimal impact on team!

With that money we can resign BWill and sign another Safety like Tony Jefferson or a corner like AJ Bouye or Malcom Butler all free agents!

Worst case scenario we resign BWill and Juszczyk and still have 8-12 Mil dollars extra in cap room in addition to what we already have.

all the aging vets can go in my opinion , then maybe we can sign younger players and not have to sign the Devin Hesters of the world. Lewis Moore wont be missed because he never played another injury prone player.

Swapping Levine for Webb would be a big mistake. Webb played fairly well this year and had a coverage grade better than Weddle. If we swap him for Levine then we have two strong safeties. I am not sure if we will keep Webb or not but there is no one currently on our roster that would be able to adequately take over that roll. And most certainty not Levine (there is a reason he doesn't play often). B Will is going to have to go. It is just not going to make sense for us to pay him the type of money that would keep him here. I think what happens to Juice wil be determined by how much interest there is around the league and what the rookie FB class looks like.

i want to see what these young guys bring to the table. they need the reps. let doom walk. i would keep pitta suggs wallace. ask zuttah for a pay cut. we need him to mentor a new center. ask webb to take a pay cut or walk and the rest can go as well. watching the packers passing game is a thing of beauty. the routes and off. passing schemes we run do not even compare. a lot of work to be done if we are to improve.

Well that just isnt true at all. His first four games were rough with people rotating through the guard spots next to him. And yes there were two times in one of those games where he backed up on Joe. And in another one of those games neigher Jensen or Zuttah blocked a guy that they were clearly responsible for which lead to a sack. But in the last eleven games of the season he has been rated as one of top five players on the offensive side of the ball eight times. Twice he was the top player and twice he was the second. I wouldn't call Zuttah past his prime or a stop gap. He was rated the number 9 gaurd in the league last year. But he is expensive and if we do get rid of him we better have a plan because there is no one else on our roster that would come close to performing the way he did. And its possible that you would dispute PFFs grade or grading system but what I would say is that you are basing you opinion on only about 1 percent of his plays because there is no way that you would be able to watch him, and then access his performance on every single play during the game. But, he is expensive and I would be fine letting him go. But if we let him go and think that either Urschel or Jensen would be able to perfrom in his place it would be a really big over site.

Wasn't the Steelers game disgusting. We could have tromped all over the Dolphins. If Weddle, Orr and Mosley could have stopped 185 lb Antonio Brown from reaching the endzone, or the defense would have stopped any of those plays during that last drive, we would be in the drivers seat to beat NE and head to the big dance. Even PFT in their final ranking rated the Ravens and said it was a shame as it was one of the few teams that had the pieces to make it to the super bowl. Just not the defensive scheme to do so.

I'm thinking basically every player on the chart with the exception of Wallace. We do need one or two WR's. Pita could be gone unless he is willing to restructure. I would also take a look at Suggs. Running on fumes. Time to start working in younger blood. Of course if we could draft players instead of roster fillers that would help a great deal.

im nervous about trusting pierce to fill b. williams shoes. even jernigan fizzled out after his fantastic start to the season. going to be a tough call on whether to resign him or not but it will not be cheap.

We still would have had to beat the Bengals and that would have been a major struggle. You can't lose to a mediocre Washington team at home not to mention those pathetic Jets. Then again, that's what happens when you are a mediocre team too. In the drivers seat to beat NE? Please. This team was nowhere close to the 2011 and 2012 Ravens teams that could compete with the Patriots.

We are a Marcus Peters/Von Miller combo away from making it to the playoffs. That is exactly what this team is missing. A premium pass rusher and a shut down corner that can stay healthy.
