You forgot about Takk McKinley. He's probably right there in the mix with harris

No way - McKinley is probably at least in the next tier down

Maybe the Texans grab him lol - imagine both watts, clowney and mercilus all going after the qb at once lol

Meanwhile the Colts just take another WR in the first, and Luck cries himself to sleep.

He didn't play that bad in the championship game. He had good coverage on Williams and had a hand on the ball on a jump ball. Williams just made a great play and kept his concentration. I think Humphrey is the best pure press corner in the draft.

a pure press corner is not necessarily a good thing, specifically in humphreys case since hes too stiff to recover when he fails to press.

big physical press corners have got to be the most overrated thing in the nfl today, considering how tough the rules are against physical dbs and looking at the extreme rarity of a tall and long corner who can actually cover a guy after the initial jam id rather take a corner who is loose and fluid enough to stay in his mans pocket all over the field.

and then playing ben roethlisberger twice a year the absolute last thing you want is a stiff corner, when you face qbs who extend plays, which is basically all good qbs now, press corners become essentially useless in crunch time

How far up would we trade for Barnett? Or would we even trade up for him? And what would it take? I really hope we somehow land him he bends the corner so well for a big dude.

i think we would try to leapfrog someone like indy who could very well be targeting a pass rusher(but then again they could be targeting literally anyone).

im pretty sure barnett ends up going to cinci or NO, it makes too much sense for both of them. but if by chance he falls past there i think the colts are patiently waiting for him to fall to them, in which case we need to trade up witth arizona who will probably be looking to move back often, rack up some mid round picks and nab a 2nd round qb prospect while acquiring some talent through some extra 3rd and 4th and 5th round picks.

I dunno about Indy - I feel like grigson is under so much pressure to build the trenches finally and protect luck that he either takes someone like Thomas or mcdowell on defense or he takes cam Robinson - I know Barnett would be a great pickup for any team and would be value at their pick but their needs in the trenches are so massive that a pass rusher might not be the pick there - maybe I'm just hoping...

well technically barnett is still in the trenches, since hes mostly a 3PS edge rusher who would line up as a 3 down OLB for them. so if they want to bolster the trenches one could argue that a 3 down edge defender and the 2nd best edge rusher in the draft is the best way to do that. plus theyve been hurting for an edge rusher desperately since that uber whiff on bjoern werner, they need to cover some ground for that pick and that would be a perfect opportunity for them.

the colts could take a ton of different guys but if barnett is there he could easily be their top guy.

If we're at 16 and you have Corey Davis, Charles Harris, Quincy Wilson, Sidney jones, dan feeney, tj watt, and dalvin cook still on the board, and you have a trade back for say 8 spots(8 players in that list) for a 2nd. I would take it in a heartbeat, I wouldn't be able To decide between those guys.

That would be a really great scenario.

Yeah, I'd definitely take that too. This draft has a fairly large number of guys in the 2nd and even 3rd rounds that seem like capable starters at the NFL level, so more picks in the top 3 rounds would be great.

I agree. Theres a lot of second round guys with 1st round upside in this year's draft. Unless, lattimore, hooker, adams, Mike williams, or even fournette fall to us we should trade back.

What if the trade back leads to another kamalei correa? Everyone would be flaming Ozzie for trading back. That other pick would be at the end of the 2nd rd as well.. I'm all for more picks, but if there's a stud that falls to us, let's not get fancy.

that's fair but given the players he mentioned i'd be ok with it - i think wilson and jones I'd be tempted to hold the fort and just snatch them at 16 but with the rest of them I'd be less fussed about the specifics because they all feel like similar level prospects all of whom I'd take around 16 (maybe a bit soon for feeney for my blood and I wouldn't want cook) so if they're all there then id happily trade back a few spots and still bag one of them - that being said, if a big time guy like one of the top two safeties or edge rushers or mike williams or lattimore fell to us then you sprint to the podium and thank your lucky stars

But we need to address 2 OL positions and that would be a sure fire way to do it while also adding talent elsewhere. Trade back, draft feeney, take pocic or elflein at 48, then boom our OL is set for years. It will be comparable to the cowboys assuming the center prospect pans out. All while allowing another pick in the 2nd.

You can be scared of another KC but that doesn't happen from trading back, that comes from selecting the wrong player. We didn't get fancy hoping spence fell, we just didn't want him, everyone knew Tampa would take him.

also, without those trade backs this draft class would be overall weak, look at what those trades allowed us to get later on...

You can't call him a busy just yet. Some players have a learning curve and we may have thrown too much at him year 1. He could very well pan out.

I'm more of a trade down guy honestly. I know it sounds nice to go and get «your guy» but it's just not worth it imo. I mean we are one C, pass rusher and CB from being elite. This class is so good at either position, it's now or never.

We could walk away with a younger and very complete roster, after 3 years of rebuilding. I know it would be nice and all to have a «special» player but there's a difference between being audacious and impatient and in this precise draft class it would mean the latter to trade the house for one guy.

Agreed

It just depends who's available and when. I wouldn't mind trading up for an elite player that could mask some of our weaknesses, but we do also have a lot of holes and it's a really stacked and deep defensive class. Getting 5 players in the first three rounds could bring a ton of talent in.

Maybe something like this

Trade up options: Barnett, T Williams, Corey Davis, Mike Williams, Lattimore

Stay at 16: Wilson, Jones, McKinley, Cook

Trade down: Edge or CB (Harris, Watt, Tre White, Tankersly, Tabor) such a deep class there will be good ones available

My dream scenario would be trade down once or  twice for Watt- grab Pocic in the Second - grab desmond king with the pick acquired from trade-  take the highest wr and then cb on the board with both thirds such as cooper kupp / westbrook and then  Corn Elder. Then just go BPA from there on out.

That gives us

1)Pass rusher

2)Center

3)Safety/ Cb

4)WR

5) CB

6) Depth

tim williams is tumbling. corey davis doesnt appear to be a trade up type of guy atm and could be there at 16, mike williams isnt quite great enough to trade up for.

mckinley is horrible value at 16

tankersley looks like hes projected 2nd round and will likely stay there, tabor is a bust in the making.

im not. but you dont talk about trading up for a guy whos being projected to go in the 2nd and 3rd round because hes failed multiple drug tests and has been arrested for carrying weed and an illegal firearm.

tabor is a holding machine and gets beat deep all the time, and mckinley is stiff as a board with less hand usage and bend than correa had coming out.

no need to mock me just because ive studied these players extensively and have seen some ugly shortcomings.

i understand, i just dont think hes that kind of a cant miss generational talent type of guy, if its a small trade for a 3rd or something then id be ok with it, i do like williams and think he'll be good, buthes far from julio or amari cooper. id much rather move up for lattimore.

Hahahah ok. Well first, you have no idea what grades teams have given players, so don't tell me about their stock and who's falling or rising on NFL boards. You flat out don't know.

Also you do realize scouting players in mostly opinion based right? You act like you're the only who knows how to evaluate them. Which is hilarious because no one can take anything you say seriously after you said Kalamlei Correa was a legit DROY candidate and "practically the same player as Anthony Barr", among many many of your other misses. We all miss on players, which is why most on here don't talk like they know everything, unlike you.

I agree with all the trade up candidates except tim Williams. It's hard to justify trading up for a guy with off feild issues. I'm almost more on board with trading down though. Especially if we don't have any great options at 16. The drop from Jones to white doesnt seem to be that steep of a difference

Lol plenty of people said kc was a droy sleeper long before we drafted him, I didn't start that train I just agreed he could be a sleeper.

And yeah, I don't know what teams are saying about players, all I can do is read up on players as much as I can and watch their film and that's what I do.

You really did not have to get your feelings hurt so bad because I disagreed with your opinions, this hissy fit you're throwing is pathetic.

And to say I can't be taken serious because of a miss(on a player that many people agreed had high potential) and then turn around and say everybody misses, little hypocritical don't ya think?

I think Peppers would be a nice fit for us since we can also use him as a returner. But I don't want us to pick him at 16, I think there is a chance that he falls to the 2nd round.

My question is would you be ok to give up our first 3rd rounder and 2nd rounder to pick him if he falls that far?

That would give us 2 first round talent and we would still have our comp pick at 3rd round. Idk if a mid 3rd round pick is enough to jump up 10-15 spots in the second round tho.

I think Williams is as close to an AJ Green as you can get without being AJ Green.

Remember, he was a top 10 player last year and this year.
