I believe in "value" i.e. not overpaying. It seemed to work in baseball; see Moneyball. However, you are right, you need playmakers and sometimes you just need to "pay the man".

I think a bigger turning point for the Falcons was adding Alex Mack and another year of Shanahan's system. Julio's an incredible player, but like you say they were pretty rubbish for a while too.

If I don't like a former employer, I'll be completely honest about how I felt during my time as an employee, but I'm also not going to feel completely biased toward them when I leave, either, if I liked them.

He was a Free Agent to be, and that looked like a serious injury that will prevent him from cashing in. Lang turns 30 in September and most likely misses out on his last big pay day of his career.
