Psst... John, - you fired the wrong people.

Really?! An ASSISTANT O-Line Coach and a strength coach?! Maybe you should have looked at your "Run Game Coordinator/O-line Coach" Juan Castillo. Better yet, the guy calling the plays.

Truly stinks that the fans are going to have to potentially sit through another bad year with this staff.

This is really just strange what is going on over at 1 Winning Drive. I mean just down right strange.

Personal issues aside, the running game was fine for the two years with Andy Moeller and Washington and has sucked with Juan Castillo and Washington so let's fire Washington, the assistant coach. Makes sense to me

Castillo should be next. Whoever calls plays, Morninweg?. We need tough guys on the line, finesse is not working, get bulldozers.

I know so many likely saw the title of the article and immediately looked to see if Castillo was one of the 2. Since his assistant was, one has to think that John feels that Juan's doing a heckuva job and any issues that existed were due to an assistant not being on board and that Juan is here ... at least for this year. It would make no sense to announce the dismissal of an assistant and then later decide to part ways with Castillo.

Whatever ... it's John's call and it's John's job that is on the line. So if we just see more of the same, fans won't have to worry about what coach will be fired next off season, The entire regime will be gone.

Just hope we're not delaying the inevitable for one more year ...

I think with all the injuries we've had over the last two seasons that getting rid of the strength and conditioning coach was A good move. Pretty obvious that he was not getting the job done.

I wouldn't count on that. Announcing the firing of an assistant and then later announcing the firing of the coach above him is highly unlikely. If Castillo were to be dismissed, it would have been announced first or at the same time as the assistant.

I don't understand how you let an Offensive Line assistant coach go, but you don't get rid of the Head Offensive line coach, who is his boss and follows his directives. To me if you get rid of one then you should get rid of both, because they both to bad. If not then the Head Lines coach should go

Bob Rogucki was over due.... no surprise there.

Washington took the fall for Castillo- SMH

I hope these cursory moves are not a smoke screen to look like changes were made.

I hope Dean Pees follows. I really think Castillo should be on the blocks.... this wasn't exactly sweeping changes that is going to change the culture in the organization and get us back to winning

Hope this is just the start of a signicant house cleaning.

That's not going to happen. From a previous article:

"Harbaugh said he’s excited to move forward with all three coordinators, including Defensive Coordinator Dean Pees and Special Teams Coordinator Jerry Rosburg."

We are all excited as well ...

I guess they know more than us, but since Castillo got here we had one good running season and that was with Kubiak.

i like how they always bring up the 2014 season. kubs along with the coaches he brought with him were in charge of the offense 100%. castillo was his gopher that season. aside from 2014 the run game under castillo has been awful. he should be fired along with wr coach bobby engram. our receivers are not taught to come back and help out joe. look back for the ball, fight for the ball and continue to drop passes. need to try different drills to get the ball droppers to improve. a lot on the line for harbaugh and his entire coaching staff next season. as a fan i sure hope they figure it out so the season is not wasted.

I don't know how impactful these moves will be. Looks like the resolution of friction between personnel with the same responsibilities. I do note the difference in blocking scheme from 2014 to the past couple of years has been a negative in the run game. Strength and conditioning impact on significant injuries: leave that to luck. Oh well.

glad to hear im not the only one who thinks Engram has been inadequate as WR coach. the development of our young WRs over the years have been dreadful

I will admit that I used to be a Castillo hater, especially in the year after the SB when we kept running #27 from the shotgun in the oh-so-predictable draw plays.

But if you're being honest, you have to admit that our offensive line has been pretty darn good, considering (a) all the injuries that have plagued them the last two seasons, and (b) the constant need to learn new blocking schemes with each new coordinator. The offensive line has to function as one body, with all five of them on the same page and being able to rely on each other. If a key piece is hurt (Wagner, Stanley, Yanda, Lewis - seriously, 4 out of 5 starters this year!) or if they have to learn a new scheme, their play will suffer!

Think about how great they played the last time we won a SB, where even McKinnie played well because the coaches benched him for several games to rest him up. Joe threw 11 touchdowns and zero interceptions, and nobody even got close to sacking him most of the time. It wasn't that Joe played better, it was the O line.

So I no longer blame Castillo, and don't think he should be fired.

If they know more than us why has losing been the norm?

Seems to me that Castillo should be fired since he is the head lines coach. The assistance does what he says to do.

your excited to watch marty an the offense go 3 an out and dean to keep playing zone with CB's 10 yards back playing soft D giving any decent QB great chances at scoring or jerry for being one of the worst special team coordinators if not for tucker so if your exited for another losing season then good luck too you
