So when do we have the cap to get back into contending for Lombardi again?

With the projected increase of 11-15 million cap increase, I would say it's very likely. It will take some creative contract restructuring, position drafting, releases, etc. but they'll get if done. The question is if we want to go for it in 2017 (max it out) or under invest and conserve cap to re-position for 2018 (scale-back).

I hope we go for broke. We're just a few players away from competing to winning it all.

I think sometimes you have to wait for the right coach to come along. I'm inclined to see Harbaugh go...........but for who? Chip Kelly? Some college coach we never heard of? We might have to wait until someone great is available.

If we are waiting for a "great" coach - why would they be available to coach the Ravens if they were "great?"  Great coaches aren't fired, they are kept  - Belichick

belichicks OC would be a great head coach

You mean the guy that drafted Tebow in the 1st Round and destroyed Denver's team for years?

No, you cut Wallace not just because of financial reasons but because of his on-field performance and locker room antics. He consistently disappears during games (after the long TD against the Squealers in the 1st game, he took himself out of the 1st half to "get his head right"). He consistently drops passes. And rumor has it that he sulks and pouts in the locker room and film room. He's a soft, one trick pony.

Aiken is a free agent and is all but gone.

I go into the season with Perriman, FA signing like Garcon/Britt, Chris Moore, Campanaro & draft pick like Corey Davis/JuJu.

Great, so with your marvelous GM skills we go into the 2017 season with a 2nd year receiver who hasn't proven himself, Moore another 2nd year receiver who hasn't done anything, Campanaro who can't stay healthy and hasn't done anything relevant but 1 TD, hedging your bets on signing Garcon/Britt and then have another undeveloped unproven rookie.  Brilliant!!!! I can see us winning a SB with that line-up...

Every single one of our receivers consistently dropped passes - that was a major problem this season.  Wallace was the 2nd leading WR with TD's and you want to get release him, not happening.

Rumor has it - really, haven't heard that rumor

You think Wallace is better than Britt or Garcon? Wallace turns 31 and we've seen what happens to a one trick speedster when they age.

That's the only difference in your scenario and mine.

"But besides sitting down and chatting with his coaches, Harbaugh needs to get some harmony back in the locker room. Receivers Steve Smith and Mike Wallace are privately pouting because they aren't getting the ball enough."

"On offense, the Ravens are an unhappy bunch. You can see it in the temper tantrum receiver Mike Wallace threw on the sideline Sunday...

With everything on the table, then there has to be some consideration to Flacco taking a pay cut or even more realistic from my view, can he be traded. We would lose the salary hit, as opposed to cutting him and eating the dead money, and we can follow the method of success that got us five playoff appearance in five years, get a QB on a rookie deal, have him grow with the team, build your strong defense and O-line with the cap we will now be swimming in and go back to ground and pound, hard hitting Ravens defense. The failure of this whole experiment is that hard-hitting, tough, blue collar, "Play Like A Raven" football is inconsistent with paying a high dollar QB. This is the first time we ever spent that kind of money on a QB and we learned a big lesson, the QB is no different than Ngata or McPhee or T Smith or any of the other guys we let go because they wanted more than our system supports. If you keep investing in your fat guys, your secondary and your running game, you don't need a billion dollar QB to get to the playoffs. History has proven me correct as how often did we get to the playoffs with Joe on his rookie contract and how often have we been there since. Let's get back to what we do well and to do that, Joe either needs to half his salary or he needs to be pawned to a team who thinks they can teach him to read defenses, improve his accuracy, improve his footwork, improve his study habits, teach him to read progressions, have the desire to work with his guys in the off season, stop him from just throwing to his buddy etc...

I say we cut Kendrick Lewis, Jeremy Zuttah, and Kyle Arrington. Try to trade Dumervil and get a 4th or 5th round pick by doing that.

Flacco must take a pay cut or he can be traded. Look at Dallas, Philly and their young QB's. Flacco poor passes and his unability to read defences why would we miss him. He has just one great pass to Jacoby in Denver. How many does Brady have?? To many to count.
Dumervil hardly plays and the O line needs help, again look at what Dallas did in the draft the past few years.
Then get 2 DB's ,a Suggs replacement and a RB who can carry the ball more than 1-2 years. Just keep those Ala./ Clemson players flowing in.

Not sure how u would define, a few...but the Ravens are in need of play makers on both sides of the ball. We badly overpaid Joe as well as others over the years. But when u spend like the Ravens do u need to have really good draft classes year after year, we've had some painful misses there. Ravens dead money is/was always too high. Coaching is a problem from Harbs on down. The penalty problems alone speak volumes abt the Ravens coaches and the quality of players we have. 10% are bad calls I'll admit that but thats w every team. Harbs is at a turning point in his career w the Ravens and both know it.

Come on, they have to cut Flacco's pay and if he doesn't like it, trade him. It's just a 8w & 8L team with him like the past few years. We can get rid of his salary and start a young, mobile QB who will at least try to may plays and have money to add a few playmakers at the many other needed positions. Lets draft for what we actually need, not just the player Newsome wants to have hanging around and not even playing. Trade up, get 2-4 this year and 2-4 next year and we can turn the corner. Look what New England and the Steelers do, WIN.
