[News] Emotional Steve Smith Feels 'Relief' After Final NFL Game

14 posts in this topic

The Ravens wide receiver didn't have his Kobe Bryant game, as he caught just three passes for 34 yards in his final game. But Smith walked away feeling 'a little bit of relief' that he doesn’t have the pressure to excel anymore.

You've been a warrior for us~ Thanks for giving your all. There's nothing more you can do as our problems are way more than one man can fix.

GOAT Steve Smith. As a huge SSSr and Ravens fan collecting his stuff, I will say he should retire as a Panther. He has always been their Ray Lewis. If only he could retire as a member of both teams

Unfortunately, the team could not have given him a better game to remember. None of our current receivers can hold a candle to him, better start looking to spend some money to find a DOMINANT receiver, otherwise we will be 8 & 8 (at best) again next year!

I can't understand why they couldn't play a better game for Steve Smith Sr. the man who put them in position to win so many games on so many different occasions!!! How he played the game until the end, and this is all that they could do for him, is to go out there and play like this, with no spirit at all!!! To many of them went out there and played like losers!!! And me myself, I'm ashamed and embarrassed of that, because I thought the Ravens motto was "Play Like A Raven!" Did today's game show how you play like a Raven? No, not at all!!! The team spirit was not present in everyone only just a few, and it was an embarrassment to the fans in Baltimore City for the Ravens to go there and play like that, it was a very disappointing day for Ravens fans and not a good way to say goodbye to Steve Smith Sr.!!! The fans of Baltimore City will certainly miss you Mr. Steve Smith Sr. #89, We wish you well in whatever you decide to do and may GOD BLESS YOU!!!

STEVE SMITH SR! THANK YOU FOR EVRYTHING!!!💯💯. I will never forget what you laid out on the field for this team, and how you choose to finish your career as a raven. During these times where ravens fans do not have much to be proud of, you have given us a glimmer of that classic Ravens style football.

@ Evrybody else in Ravens organization besides Steve Smith, you will be hearing from me soon. But not now, because this moment/article should be used to honor the great SSS

I think SSS might have at least contemplated returning over the next month or two, if he had seen any promise whatsoever on this team. Instead, in his last game of professional football his dimwitted QB was dumping the ball off to his bff literally the entire game, failing to see any other open receiver and even forcing throws to Pitta into impossibly tight coverages, one of which resulted in a costly INT. I really think the performance of the rest of the team made SSS' decision about retirement very easy.

As to the rest of the team that FO has now assembled, with SSS gone there is literally noone on this team who any opponent is afraid of, talent wise and competition wise. That's what you get when you focus on quantity over quality in drafts and FA moves and don't use high draft picks for skill positions. We might actually be the least dangerous team after the Browns.

The worst part is, unless for some reason Kubiak returns to be the OC with his magnificent game plan (or we find another equally brilliant OC), I don't see us being better in any way in 2017. Too many holes to fill on the roster.

It really sucks for Steve's career to end this way. We fans didn't even get a chance to give him a proper sendoff on the field at the Bank. Sure there were rumors this could be it and I doubt anyone is surprised but, both he and us lose out since he didn't announce his retirement until after the final home game had been played. I don't care much for this slip out the back, jack kind of thing. The Ravens should have honored him in some manner!

Wonder what Smith thinks of this team as he moves on? He likes to talk so after the smoke settles on his exit someone on the Ravens press core should ask him.

Why didn't we feed Steve in the 3rd and 4th Quarter when we were down? I lost respect for Flacco yesterday.
