Pick 17 or 16

20 posts in this topic

With Tennessee and Tampa Bay winning today, we are at #17 slot. If Denver beats Oakland, we get at least the #16 slot for the 2017 draft.

TIE-BREAKING PROCEDURE FOR SELECTION MEETING

  1. Clubs not participating in the playoffs shall select in the first through 20th positions in reverse standings order.
  2. The Super Bowl winner is last and Super Bowl loser is next-to-last.
  3. The losers of the Conference Championship games shall select 29th and 30th based on won-lost-tied percentage.
  4. The losers of the Divisional playoff games shall select 25th through 28th based on won-lost-tied percentage.
  5. The losers of the Wild Card games shall select 21st through 24th based on won-lost-tied percentage.

If ties exist in any grouping except (2) above, such ties shall be broken by strength-of-schedule. If any ties cannot be broken by strength-of-schedule, the divisional or conference tie-breakers, if applicable, shall be applied. Any ties that still exist shall be broken by a coin flip.

With Minnesota and Indianapolis winning, they finished 8-8 tied with us. If New Orleans wins, they will also finish 8-8 tied with us

The tie breaker is based on Strength of Schedule (however, not sure if this is 2015 strength of schedule or 2016 strength of schedule).

Theoretically, we will pick as high as #13 and as low as #17 depending on how strength of schedule is determined.

If it is determined by this link, I have us picking at the #14 slot if NO wins and #15 if NO loses, as only Indianapolis has a worst strength of schedule.

Saints game means nothing? Can't they finish 8-8 too? Could be wrong, not sure what the tie breaker is either. Anyway, go denver

It's a shame the Ravens wouldn't be able to get ahead of Indy with their pick since both teams need similar players, but getting ahead of the Saints would be nice. At 15 Barnett would be a real option.

I would be surprised if Barnett was there at 15.

Teams will know that his numbers are somewhat inflated due to the style of defense he was in. Plus he's not a top tier athlete, which means he could get overshadowed by people at the combine. I could see him being around at 15.

I thought we were a lock for #16 after the Titans won. Looks like the Saints are about to take the L.

Tie breaker is based on Strength of Schedule. If Denver wins, we are at least #16.

If Denver loses, we are in tie at 8-8 with DEN, MINN, IND. The tie-breaker would determine who drafts at lower. I'm not sure if they count the 2016 opposition records or the 2015 opposition records.

Tiebreakers

Strength of schedule for the previous season is the first tie-breaker for teams with the same winning percentage. The team with the lowest strength of schedule percentage wins the tiebreaker and picks ahead of all other teams with the same record.

I think we are drafting #15.

Denver's winning. Saints are being crushed. No ties in sight. We're picking #16

Officially Pick 16....

Colts SOS: .492

Vikings SOS: .492

Ravens SOS: .498

Colts & Vikings have same SOS & Conference Record. Which moves it to the final tiebreaker before the coin flip, Division Record. Vikings had a 2-4 Division Record compared to the Colts 3-3 division record. Eagles will get the 14th pick(via MIN), Indy gets the 15th and we are slotted 16th.

Did they use this year's (2016) SOS?  Looks like it if we are picking 16.

Yes, it's 2016's SOS.

We are picking 16, which puts us in prime position for sliding talent. Plus in a spot to move up a few picks.

Realistically these are my top 5 hopefuls that we land.

1.) Tim Williams

2.) Sidney Jones

3.) Barnett

4.) Quincy Wilson

5.) Takk McKinley

Wonder if this is the year we finally trade up? I wanna see us move back into the first or trade up early 2nd to grab Nelson or feeney. I like elflein but he's far from those 2.

I say trade up because we had a good 2016 draft. That said, we got starters not game changers. With a solid 2016 draft, if KC or Kaufusi can turn into a contributing starter for us, and one of Henry and Cannady be a rotational player, we knock that draft out of the stadium. This let's us go for a home run with this 2017 draft as we get a comp 3rd for Osemele and we should trade up and go for it.

I would remove McKinley at 16. That's way too high. I'd put Mike Williams in there or go OL or trade back. I prefer the top 4 and especially top 2. I'd trade ahead of Indy if possible.

I definitely agree and think we must be aggressive with either our first or second round pick. If we feel one of Jones, Barnett or Williams drops within trading distance of our second round pick I say move up and get them and take the one who won't!

We better. As I said above I would trade up from our first or second round pick depending on our options. I think the 2nd rounder is more likely because it sounds like a we could get one of Jones or Williams with our first and the other with our second.

Yep. Let's use our original 3rd to move up and use the comp to supplement the 3rd

Feeney in the late 20s would be clutch and help out the line!!
