Week 17: The Good, The Bad, The Ugly, Vent/Rant Bengal Version

153 posts in this topic

The ugliest, by far, was when Chris Simms said that SSS was not a HoF receiver because he was never a top 5 WR in a single season.

Please, go back and watch the 2005 season. Please.

He interjected his opinion on every subjec after every play

I don't think there was any good today outside of the plays made by Perriman to catch the ball and run to the 1, followed up by Dixon's touchdown.

The good: SEASON IS OVER. High draft position.

The bad: honestly who cares?

The ugly: Chris Simms comment.

Just a heartless game for a majority of this team from the coaches on down.  Props to those who still played their hearts out, but for a lot of guys, it was embarrassing.

Pretty pathetic showing overall, pretty sad to see but the team flat out didn't want to win and didn't care.

The good: Dixon looks like the real deal. Defense did "better" in the second half, but let's be real, the Bengals are no stranger to second half collapses. Pitta got 11 catches but really that has more to do with receivers not getting open.

The bad: So much to say, but so little desire to relive the nightmare that was this game. Mornhinweg is getting fired, and it needs to happen badly. Flacco decisions in the redzone are just terrible, but the playcalling doesn't help him much. Run game abandoned all game long even though it was working - literally the thing that got Trestman fired. Receivers can't get open. Zuttah struggled again. Run D struggled again. No pass rush, again. Pees playcalling is just as bad, we practically played prevent from start to finish and Wright was so far off it was ridiculous. CBs kept slipping.

A disgrace to even say that during a guy's last game.

Last game or not, how can you be so ill informed about his career?

The Good: I have to think Dixon rolls into next year as our lead back, with West (should we retain him) spelling him at times. He just look like he's ready to be a real positive asset

The Bad: The fact that Joe couldn't get the ball to WRs almost at all. Pitta, check down, Pitta, check down all game (and all season) long. They get one ball to Perriman in even a little bit of space and he (basically) takes it to the house. Play calling or Joe - I don't know, but that makes for a sad offense.

The Ugly: Aside from SSS having a terrible send off, I think the biggest ugly will be if that injury to Mosley is serious. I can see wanting to win and playing your starters to go out with a positive, but at the point when we failed on 4th down deep in our territory, every player of real note should have been on the sidelines. We can't have Mosley starting the season on the PUP next year, because he tore his achillies in the waning moments of a meaningless game that was already lost.

The bad: Did the team pack up their lockers after the Steelers loss? because it sure looked like it today.

The ugly: The Ravens made the Bengals look like a playoff caliber team today. If that was the Ravens playing for pride and not giving up WOW!!! Oz has got a lot of work to do.

Why is Elam still on the team better yet in the game. He totally whiffed on the Bengals first TD. That's 2 this year.

The possible good: Whooo-hoo maybe we get a little higher draft pick.

Dixon needs to learn how to pass block over the offseason, but otherwise, I agree.  He should be the main ball carrier and West should still get a good amount of carries as well though.

Injury was just a calf injury

This is one of the only times under Harbaugh where it felt like the team actually gave up. They gave up pretty early at that.

Since Ray Lewis retired, this team has had no identity. They have to stop drafting choir boys and get some players who are loud and get fired up. With Suggs and Yanda each past their prime, plus the loss of Steve Smith, I shudder to think what this team will look like next year.

If John "Bible Thumping" Harbaugh hires Greg Roman as OC over Mike McCoy then he needs to go.

Harbaugh has proven one of two things these last few years, he is either inept at hiring effective coaches (see Marc Trestman) OR he is content with his coaches being awful (see Dean Pees)
Either way its a problem, and hiring Roman should put his butt firmly in the hotseat

Don't spew all that BS about "hurr durr he won a Super Bowl half a decade ago". This is a "WHAT HAVE YOU DONE FOR ME LATELY" league and you all know it whether or not you'd like to admit it.

EDIT: Truth hurts, doesnt it? Feel free to keep burying your heads in the sand and pretending everything is fine. You obviously don't care about football

Pitta had 16 targets. Can we say tunnel vision?

Tunnel vision but in all fairness he had Black and orange jerseys in his face pretty much all game long and pretty much no help from his WR's getting open down field

Everything was ugly, and it puts a dingleberry on top of yet another mediocre season in recent memory.

Steve Smith was the talk of the town this past week and even around the entire league as he announced his retirement. Harbaugh gives his typical nonsense presser about how much he loves him, Flacco and everyone else praises him and yet we come out and get destroyed, get an L, and Smith records a whopping 3 catches on his way out the door. Booooooo.

See you later Mornewhig or however the hell you pronounce your mediocre name, maybe if we would have promoted someone else to be OC we would have made the playoffs. We will miss your 1 yard passes Marty, see ya.

Elam, Ducasse, Wright, Zuttah, bye. Pees and Castillo, I honestly hope neither of you have another job in the NFL. Seriously. Retire. Go home. Or wherever.

They didn't put any heart into this game. Should have just pulled the starters and played backups who would have at least tried.

a higher draft pick is not the bottom line.   NE generally goes close to last and still best most opponents each year.  anyone who thinks the draft order is an end all isn't thinking at all.   player development which used to be a stong suit has fallen off.  coaching has been suspect for a while.  leadership on the team is missing.  shall I go on.  sometimes changing personnel can be useful.  take a look at Oakland for example.  I don't hold any allusions about this teams near term future whether the same coaches return or not.  but one thing for sure is there will be no improvement ever if things don't change.

Harbaugh has been losing the team for years, it started Year 5 when Reed and Pollard started the mutiny, they knew they were wasting their last years and needed something to chance. Luckily for Harbaugh Reed left and then Pollard was purged (even though he was still a quality player)

Don't forget a few years ago when he was using STICKERS as motivation in practice as if he was coaching peewee football

Hes all talk, always has been.
