2017 edge rusher

Pretty sure I was one of the first people to even talk about Williams, I was talking about him as one of the dudes to watch. He's a pass rusher first and foremost. He's the weakest run defender in that line, albeit it is probably the top D-line in football, which makes me a little more concerned. Plus the fact that he was dumb enough to get a gun charge is odd, I thought we were complaining about Harbaugh keeping dumb players, this forum changes its mind every other week on the that though so who knows...

hes not on the line hes an OLB, he is a pass rusher first and foremost but he has also shown some real run stopping ability by holding his ground on an island vs the OT and influencing the direction of the run when it comes near him, he is disruptive against the run because nothing breaks down a run play more than instant penetration, and he has shown good habits of staying home and playing with discipline more this year compared to years past, and in general he plays very strong and physical, his frame looks skinny because its 100% muscle, in the 4-5 games ive watched of him i dont think i can point out more than 1 play per game where he gets physically overwhelmed at the point of attack, he holds his ground well with a strong core and violent hand fighting.

the forums have clamored for the FO to stop being overly sensitive to "character concerns" and passing up great prospects because of it. we dont want dumb players but we still want good players, which tim williams is. you cant look at one incident and write a guy off permanently, ie. noah spence/jimmy smith/dez bryant. these are still kids that often come from troubled environments as adolescents and need a chance to grow up.

Lol, I know and I don't normally see what he says but since Flex quoted him, I did and had to defend my boy.

And for this reason alone, I will advocate for us not drafting him. Just like Henry last year.....

even though I'd be estatic with Tim

That's Cill for you. He speaks in absolutes and certainties, yet comes off like he's watched exactly 0 snaps of said player.

Only a Sith deals in absolutes...

Just like you greatly disliked Bosa and thought he'd be a bust, as well as hating Stanley and expressing numerous times your distaste for Ramsey? I respect your difference in opinion but you don't seem like any authority at all on the draft. It doesn't sound like you know what you're talking about. Furthermore, @rmw10 and @allblackraven were the first two guys to really discuss Williams just like I was one of the first to talk up Allen.

I wanted Tim Williams last year before he decided to go back to school. He's been a favorite of mine for awhile.

In the event that the Ravens don't grab an edge rusher in the first, who is likely to be there in the middle of the second round?

That's problematic... Surely Harold Landry (but I'm honestly not high on him until I see some 2016 tape with serious improving), Joe Mathis (not extremely high on him either) and Jordan Willis will be the biggest names.

Harold landry, takk McKinley I think is getting overrated around here and I think he's gonna go in the 2nd, same with Solomon Thomas since he's clearly a project.

Joe Mathis a second rounder? That poor team...

I've actually seen mocks that have the Ravens taking Takk in the first, and CBS oddly enough has Thomas rated as a top twenty guy. I like him, but even I think that's crazy.

Edit: Also, I guess there's the possibility of Ryan Anderson from Alabama being there in the middle of the second.

Depending on how fast edge rushers disappear from the board, Anderson may go anywhere between mid 1st and mid 2nd. He is well rounded player but at 16 there's bound to be better talent available at other position(s). Top CB or WR in the 1st and Anderson in the 2nd would be awesome draft for us.

I'd tend to agree, but Miller has him as a top50 prospect, and you know if wee play the comp game he kinda reminds of Correa in some aspects.

I've seen it too I just disagree. I think walterfootball in the past 2 years have been more accurate on player stock.

I don't see half the burst that Correa had but I see bigger size and better technique.

We completely agree then.

Maybe Hubbard will be there in the second (even third perhaps) if he declares. He would be the only good edge rusher I could think of. I also want to see what Caroll Philips looks like, Walter Football looks so high on him.

I like Carroll Phillips quite a bit in the 2nd. I personally don't like Hubbard, I just don't see anything impressive there, very meh on tape.

Since Garrett and Barnett will be gone, I'm hoping Taco Charlton is the pick.  Not a big fan of Tim Williams

If you have any tape to share on Phillips I'd be very thankful! Can't find any!

Waw, that has to be the first time we really disagree on a prospect. I love Hubbard's agility and his sense of leverage coupled with his very refined use of hands and bend. He's not the most explosive but he has the overall mobility to win outside of with an inside counter move, or by working with his hands and shedding the T. If you can win in several ways as a pass rusher you have my attention, plain and simple.

Lets say the Combine comes around and Carl Lawson tests well and proves to have no health concerns. Would you guys consider taking him if Williams, Barnett, Jones, and Wilson are gone?

Solomon Thomas>Lawson

Might even take a WR over Lawson if Davis or Williams is there.

Davis might be there, but I'm pretty sure that Williams is top 10.

Consider? Yes, totally. But I wouldn't chose him without thinking it over at least 7 times.

TJ Watt declared and I would like him. He has obvious name factor but he's also talented so there's that

I liked him watching a few games live. What's his projected range?

I don't really follow mock drafts right now and haven't personally looked at any but if I had to guess I'd say he'll go somewhere between our pick in the first as his high and the mid 2nd as his low. If a playoff team wants him I think they'll have to spend their first on him or trade up from their 2nd to get him. I don't see him being there much further past our 2nd round pick.

Well, another edge rusher in the mix could help the Ravens out. It adds another trade back options, or helps to push someone like Ryan Anderson to us in the 2nd round.

Right now he's seen as a borderline first rounder, but if he does well in pre draft stuff I think he could easily make his way into the mid first. Name factor aside he was fantastic this season, definitely has a nose for the ball and has more than enough athleticism to get in on every play.

Yeah I really like what I saw from TJ this year in his role. He impressed me a lot and I was hoping he'd declare and now that he has he's near if not at the top of my wish list depending on other prospect availability.

Talent should be most important and a single offense should not cause immense alarm like it did when Shane Ray slide to the Broncos and we did not jump at a top 10 guy

Andersen from Bama looks like a second rounder. Not elite, but plays with that smash mouth style.
