28 posts in this topic

The Ravens tight end was a major question mark as the season opened after missing the past two years because of a his second major hip injury. This season, he will play in all 16 games and has reassumed his status as one of Baltimore’s more reliable receiving weapons.

He got paid I consider that a success but I hope he learns how to BLOCK!

Pitta can block. He may not be the best blocking tight end, but if you look at his overall skill set it more than makes up for average blocking. Not many TE's can run routes and catch like Pitta, not to mention have that toughness. Don't let two hip injuries lull you into thinking he's soft.

We'll have some tough choices at TE next season. Who do you cut from this group; Pitta, Gilmore, Williams, Watson, Boyle, Waller? Maybe we can get some value in a trade.

Umm...Pitta's blocking is horrible!

We said the same thing in training camp this year.
But with injuries, suspensions, etc. we did not have to cut anyone.
We'll see how it goes next year.

Depends on Watson coming back from the injury. Waller is a roster filler. Far to many of them on this roster already. Did not have to draft Maxx Williams in the 2nd round. Plenty of interchangeable TE's and he's just another TE. Gilmore ALWAYS hurt. Not really tough choices with a lot of run of the mill players.

Totally Proud of what Mr Pitta has done......I totally saw him only retiring for his own good but in my eyes he gets player of the year for us(Tucker mows harbys lawn for more fg attempts instead of td's so tuckers OUT).......So TY Dennis for a Great effort and best of luck in the future!

Maybe pitta CAN block. but he Doesn't. At all. I'd rather have Jimmy Graham blocking

Jeez, completely forgot about Max Williams. Williams, Elam, Perriman, Arthur Brown. All first and 2nd round picks and they can hardly stay on the team let alone contribute. Our drafting and coaching is driving this Organization to the ground. Which none of us are used to. Steve, time for you to step in and save the day!

Congratulations to Dennis on making it all the way back. He defied the logic of returning and should be honored as such.

While I'm happy Pitta didn't mess up his hip again this year, I still have reservations about him and whether he deserves a big contract- not sure what he's getting now but understand that he's triggered some big bonus due to the amount of catches he's made. I could be wrong, but I think most of his receptions have been short passes. I also don't think it's wise to have this catching pass bonus when Flacco is his best friend- I'm sure Flacco is going to try to take care of him by throwing the ball to his boy as much as possible so he could get his bonus. While Pitta bread caught a lot of passes this year, I would bet that he certainly wasn't one of the leaders in catching long passes. Anyhow, I'm happy that he's back and healthy but think his contract needs to be restructured because he isn't that good anymore- plus, he sucks at blocking- he and Juice probably wouldn't be on any other NFL team.

Dude. Juice is a pro bowler. And Pitta could be a pass catching te on ANY team in the NFL right now. His blocking does suck though. And I agree, I wouldn't give him a big contract what so ever. No blocking and injury history

come on fellas 75 receptions so far after basically missing 2 years??? Those are beastly numbers, most guys would be tentative, he balled hard all year, and his numbers are top 3 among TE's, that's a heck of a comeback....He was never known for his blocking, he has been Flacco's security blanket, and once again he bailed Flacco out many times.....Had Flacco been more accurate with some of his throws his numbers would be even better....Now we have to find a way to talk SSS to play another year.....

dude. juice made the pro bowl. And though Pitta sucks at blocking he would be a pro bowler if Arod was tossing it to him. Saying Pitta and Juice couldn't make the 9ers or Browns is just absurd

Given that SSS will probably retire, we want to run the ball more and we have good receiving tight ends (Pitta, Waller, Williams) and blocking tight ends (Gilmore, Boyle), we should definitely look at using a two tight end set a lot more next year.

How many times have you seen Pitta stop short of the first down? If Kyle gets the ball he will get the first down "come hell or high water” I hope Pitta’s hips are not the issue when it comes to blocking but just rust. When it comes to needing short yardage first downs I'm going to Kyle but for quick releases and big gains Pitta. Kyle is a free agent and going to get big money

Good thing FB money isn't huge, plus we aren't quite there as far as FB being a big part of many offenses as many still use 1 back sets.....JMO

I just think a smart coach can use & train that ability. The man has Raven Heart. Just ask that guy he ran over. With Klye and Dixon we could easily beat the will out of New England and Pitts to the Super Bowl.

Juice made the pro bowl because there are only 4 full backs in the entire nfl- Juice like pitta can't block a toddler- this is a fact- look at the film-
