[News] Marshal Yanda Plans To Move Back To Right Guard Next Year

14 posts in this topic

I respect Yanda for playing out of position to take pressure off his shoulder and help the line. Wish Jimmy Smith had that play through pain mindset, I'll give him a pass for the high ankle sprain, but there has been many times he is hurt and doesn't suit up, always happens to be big games too.

love me some Yanda, 2nd greatest Olineman in Ravens history. i put hit right there besides J.O. 1a and 1b. looking forward to seeing him play for a few more years, and then inducted into HoF down the road

How much better can you get at right guard? He's dominating at left guard and he's better at right. That tells you everything about him. He's better than the best natural left guards out there. If he played rt or lg his whole career he'd be a hof'er there too. My favorite raven right now, hands down

All any Raven needs to do to find a great character in the locker room is look to Yanda. This man does it all and never complains and has great success despite facing challenges. To play on the line, one of the most physical positions with an injury out of position and still be graded among the best is just insane.

Cannot compare the two injuries. High ankle sprain basically makes it darn near impossible to run at full speed and make the required cuts out there to cover a WR. He would play, no doubt in my mind, but he would only become a big target to pick on.

Yanda playing through injury had more to do with, among other things, the ability to still play at a high level.

Reality is no one gets to the NFL and is not a tough player/personality, it is practically a requirement from the first day you strap on your bucket.

Exactly. If you've played football at the college level you know how tough these guys are. Less than 1% of the biggest, baddest Div 1 football players make it to the NFL.

That's why we all laugh at the "Alpha Dawg" clown comments......

You can't deny his impact on our line. A consummate pro and all around great teammate. HOF and ROH bound for sure.

He is great at either position, but I sort of like the idea of Stanley/Yanda dominating the left side to be unstoppable for a few years, plus protect Joe's back side. Plus, probably easier to find a serviceable RG and RT. At the money he is making, LG would make more sense and allow them options. One thing is for sure though, Zuttah better be a distant memory if they want to dominate. He is horrible and will compromise any good blocking with his complete rubbish play.
