25 Degrees And Snowing....

39 posts in this topic

Joe Flacco says this will be the coldest game he's ever played in. I guess when you play at Deleware your season ends in November. Joe also says that he's not going to wear gloves.

I have a feeling his hands are going to be freezing, but he doesn't want to put gloves on, because he's never played with gloves.

On the flip side. D-Mase is loving it. This weather will make it into a historic type game.

Man your right!!!

you could not script a better plot for a movie

...two long time rivals
...everything on the line in a grudge match
...in many ways equal, then in many ways not!
...in a very cold snowy field
...deep behind enemy lines
...the winner the goes to the Superbowl!
...the other goes home!

wow...I got shivers thinking about this game

One of the all time great games will happen tonight. At a snowy, bitter cold Heinz field the next great NFL quarterback will make his name known. And he will lead a team that has played for eighteen straight weeks into the promise land. With nerves as icy as the Pennsylvania air, and a cannon for an arm he will slice through the low visibility of the snow and the howling winds. We have reached a crossroads my friends.

Two roads diverged in a wood, and the Ravens-
The Ravens took the one less traveled by,
And that has made all the difference.

God bless the Ravens. Regardless of what happens today, they have already won.

Ahh, football is playing in a dome in Arizona. I wonder if they'll open their retractable roof for the big game? :P

I think that the Washington at Baltimore game was VERY COLD. Though Joe didn't play well he did decent.

That's just dumb. Nearly every player that wants to be all gung-ho puts on gloves by halftime because the cold is just far too much. I guess Flacco might not have to wear anything if the defense is on the field all day as he'll be in one of those huge jackets.
Good news. It'll only slow down their passing game, Willie Parker and their pass rushers.
But these cold conditions are fumble weather..

IDK. Now days QB's just stick their hands in the heated pockets in between plays. 10 seconds cold, 25 seconds heat, 10 seconds cold, 25 seconds heat. Repeat. In 25 degree weather I think it will be fairly easy to keep the hands warm even without gloves.

I'm not as worried about the cold since they will be running on pure adrenaline, but I am worried about that sh!**% Pittsburgh field. It's going to be a frozen rock and it will be pretty chunked up from last week too. It's going to be slow running and hard on the bodies.

Man I can't stand that field - with all that money, the Rooney family should really do something better.
Go Ravens!!

Agreed... this will be an awesome game. This is what football is all about.... far more than the actual Superbowl for fair weathered fans that is more of a cooperate shindig than anything else.

If you are an old school, traditionalist football fain, this is the game of the year!!!

Never happen. That field creates an advantage for the Steelers.

Well, it helps.... 4 hours out there.... those hand warmers just keep you from getting frost bit. It's still pretty darn cold.
Why's that?
Because you guys get enough practice on it with your 8 home games a year. Opposing teams come in, and the field is hard to run on, if it rains it gets horrible. While the Steelers know the feel of the field. This is true for all teams, but Heinz Field is argueably the worst field in the league. Grant it, the field does seem a lot better this year.

Tell me: Who's stupid enough to put new turf over the old turf? That's just pure stupidity!

When the Ravens played the Redskins it was colder then expected today, and I did everything like you are supposed and lost all feeling in my toes.

Good point. I guess I didn't consider home games as practice, especially since most of those games are played before the field gets so crappy this late in the season.

They should've waited until offseason, so they could tear up the old turf, and then put the new turf on. You did happen to catch the Miami/****tsburgh game, right? Punt didn't even bounce, it just landed.

I disagree.... I say it is the best field in the league! :D

This ain't no "greatest show on turf". The field forces a physical grudge match type of game. Usually the more physical team wins. That is they way the Steelers (and the Ravens) play football.

So there should be no excuses.
