Steve Smith Sr. Appreciation Thread

71 posts in this topic

The most awesome player we've had since Ray Lewis and Ed Reed in my honest judgment, in terms of leadership, ability and charisma. We are going to miss him gravely. In 3 short years, he became almost iconic in that it is hard to imagine SSSr. as anything but a Raven.

My favorite Raven since he joined Baltimore, hate to see it end like this but glad to see a future HOFer.

Thanks a lot Steve, we love you man. Thanks for laying it out on the line every game like it was your last, you're an inspiration to a lot of people. One of all-time great Ravens, even if it was only for 3 seasons.

One of the best players at his position of all-time. Hard worker and made himself a player. Thank you Steve Smith I was excited from the first moment you got cut from Carolina. I knew you were meant to be a Raven. I wish the team could've given you a ring but it didn't work out. Your name would be even bigger than it is now if you had a decent quarterback throwing to you your entire career. Flacco, Newton, and a few others were decent but there were a few other no named quarterbacks in there that had your talents go to waste. The injury bug was also not the nicest to you. Thank you for your dedication to this team.

What a great Wide Out! Steve definitely played with a chip on his shoulder and embodied what it means to "Play Like A Raven." He exemplified the Old School toughness that is quickly disappearing in the new NFL. If everyone had played with his intensity and passion this year, we'd be n the playoffs instead of the Steelers. Hopefully, his example will serve as an inspiration for our younger players who will try to follow in his footsteps. Nobody will fill his shoes! Have a great retirement, Steve, and thanks for all the great memories!! Hope to see you in the HOF!!!

I didn't know he actually retired with 89 touchdowns.  That is actually kinda cool. Makes me sorta almost a tiny little bit glad he didn't get a TD in Cincy.
