[News] Eisenberg: With A Few Changes, Ravens Can Be Pretty Darn Good Next Year

143 posts in this topic

Sounds Like damage control or some company fed PR Eisenberg. Wake up man...... you don't think this team underachieved in 2016??? Really??

Not according to most pre season predictions. Ravens were a 8-8 team this year. Keep picking draft picks that can't get on the field and that's were the Ravens will stay.

I know everybody thinks the Ravens should contend for the Super Bowl every year, but the only team that does is New England. If Antonio Brown had come up 8 inches short and the Ravens won the won, people in Pittsburgh would be calling for Tomlin's head. Denver won last year and didn't make the playoffs this year. Think their fans are happy? How about Carolina fans? Cardinals, Colts, Bills, and Bengals all had lousy years. Should their coaches be fired? (Re: Rex Ryan -- YES.) Seattle has fallen behind the Raiders and played some terrible games this year. Should Pete Carroll take a hike? At least the Ravens field a competitive team. Imagine being stuck with the Browns, Jets, 49ers, or Rams! Yeah, Correa and Kaufusi have been busts so far, but look at how many rookies made an immediate impact -- Stanley, Lewis, Young, Moore, Judon, Dixon. Repeat that in the upcoming draft and the Ravens will remain a playoff-contending team.

Well-put!!

Would you say this team had more talent or less talent this year versus 2014? I would say the 2014 team had less talent but was more successful because they had a competent OC whose scheme and playcalling enabled the offense to make the Ravens competitive. In both cases, special teams were solid and the Ravens defense had trouble holding a lead.

I agree wholeheartedly!! And that same guy left us and won a SB with the Broncos the very next year!

I'm glad someone on here pointed this out....the excuses need to stop the coaching was the weakest part of the team....harbaugh doesn't have a clue, tressman was well just tressman, marty from the andy reid school hence lack of running game, dean pees how does he still have a job??? These guys was the brain trust this season and people actually wonder why we struggle and I mean struggle no matter the competition. We dominated exactly 1 game this year,  just 1. Folks like to believe we are contenders...don't believe it we have just 6 wins over winning teams the last 4 years....everytime we play winning teams we fold usually in the 4th....it's just hard as a fan watching this team knowing every week we're at a disadvantage with game planning and coaching adjustments and yet nothing will change.....What's that they say is the definition of insanity

I hope John can get it fix but 2013, 2015 and 2016 prove otherwise. We seen this before with Brian B.

I believe if we are to take the next step forward and make the playoffs next year we need a new Offensive and defensive coordinators . We have the talent and our young players are sure to improve based on this year's experience . Add a good draft and a few key free agents and we'll compete with any quality team!

I read this also early before the season started? But I agree with so many draft picks not even getting on thee field? Campanaro is one of them! So talented, but stays hurt all the time. can be a wes welker type no problem. Correa, Smith, prime suspects? so much talent!! with these guys on the field how deep would we be? Jimmy starting to get on my nerves also. He has got to know it hurts us? He and shorty Young opposite? Best tandem ever ! miss the old days! Playing through injury! The love of the game? and didn't make this kind of money?

I give all rookies a second chance? (Perriman) Imagine Correa and Kaufusi along with Smith (LB) all being productive next year? I smell a nuclear bomb! Along with the others you mentioned? But you are right there is no other fan I would want to be. But I am really feeling it! worst feeling since 11. Cant wait for next year already? Forward wind?

In 2014, you had a younger version of SSS but more importantly, KO and a healthy Yanda. Two of the best G in football - I would say that would make a much bigger difference than the OC.

I would like to hear some real comments from the coaches about the defense's performance on Sunday. In the 4th quarter, the Ravens looked like a HS football team that was totally over matched by the opponent. Steelers average yardage gained was 11 yards per play. In other words, a first down on every play. How do you not check Brown on the line of scrimmage on that last play? Slow him down and he doesn't get to that ball. Oh, they were tired. Well they have plenty of time to rest. Jimmy Smith?

no adjustments in the 4th qtr on defense = Pees should lose his job.

Our path would have been 1) Miami at home ( without starting qb) and 2) Oakland on the road ( without starting qb) ..almost a guaranteed path to AFCG...then anything could've happened. Really stings. Would've gotten jimmy back too.

sad though, that our path is always on the road because we're NEVER good enough to compile a record which gets us a bye week. harbaugh's got to go. enough is enough already

Did you watch the last play to AB? Then you would have seen it was a pick play. The DB covering AB was picked by the other WR - Powers switched onto AB like he should have but he was already trailing at that point.

Pees blitzed 4 times on that final drive. What happens when you don't get to the QB on a blitz? Big yardage. That loss is on Suggs, Doom, Jernigan, Orr for not getting to the QB in 1-on-1 matchups.

Here we go again with Eisenberg, I can feel all the hype coming and nothing ever happens as far as getting better, Rex Ryan was fired by the Bills, bring him back as OC

The Ravens can be good if Harbaugh doesn't make dumb decisions like in the Raiders and Redskins games.

Pretty sure you missed about 5-7 games to add to that list

Sarcasm. Harbs ain't the problem. Look what happened in San Fran when they moved on from Jim. They fell off a cliff. Teams that have continuity are most successful. Coordinators have been the problem. Had kubiak stayed things would've been MUCH different. Damn Elway.

Flacco is the most overrated, overpaid QB in the NFL. He may have gone downfield 3 or 4 times the entire game. He wasted excellent WRs like Smith, Perriman & Wallace. His favorite receiver was Pitta for 6 yards a pop. In fact, most of his passes were for 5 yards. He broke Testeverdes record? Well, they were both from the same mold, Big QBs with strong arms who hardly used them. He played with cement shoes. Looking back, I would have kept Tyrone Taylor, saved a heap of money & we would have gone further !!!
