[News] Eric Weddle: I Would Choose Baltimore 100 Times Over Again

20 posts in this topic

Mod 3, why exactly? Not saying he will be fired but to act like hes some gr8 coach when since sb the Ravens as a organization have went backwards since Harbaugh gained more power. No matter how his fans try to spin it facts are facts.
Without Ray,Ed,Sizzle in his prime, boldin, pollard etc Harbaugh has hired his besties who failed miserably, and the team has no identity that fans align with. Fans are losing enthusiam because they want the ravens defensive swagger identity back with big brash raa raa players they identify with, and instead harbaugh tries to mute such characters aswell as building around a 20mil avg qb
Who will be gone in 2 years unless he makes another epic sb run..cause hes hurting organization getting paid like a hof qb and playing avg

Good foundation on defense for next year.

ILB - Orr, Mosley, Peanut, KC - all good there
OLB - Suggs, Judon - need some serious help here
DL/DE - Bwill (if he resigns), Jernigan, Pierce, Guy, Kaufusi, Urban, Davis, Henry - need young guys to step up
CB - Smith, Young, Wright, Canady - need to add a young stud. 2017 draft is loaded with top CB talent. Adding Humphrey, King or Tabor would be Ideal.
S - Weddle, Webb - need to add another young prospect to learn from Weddle.

In my opinion, I put the CB issue to rest in this draft. In the 1st round, I take Humphrey/King/Tabor and in the 2nd Round, I take Jourdan Lewis/Tankersley/Sutton. That's 2 potential top corners to pair with Jimmy Smith & Tavon Young and that position will be locked down for 3-4 years.

"since Harbaugh gained more power?"

He is the Head Coach, no more no less. No different now than when he was hired. He has his preferences, but Ozzie is the final decision maker on who is brought in here.

Have to blame this season on ozzie, His draft picks have been terrible and it shows. His love affair with small school guys has cost us, Imagine if we had ajay ayih from the dolphins. But noooo ozzie passed on him and drafted dixon out of Louisiana tech, hes to arrogant.

Weddle is a class guy and a team guy. Make no mistake, he is no Ed Reed, but he does bring experience and leadership to a defense that was floundering. I don't understand how our defense could hold the Steelers to 10 points through 3 quarters, then all of a sudden, presto, give up 21 in the fourth. Something changed. Harbaugh had better find out what and address it. It is not the first time this year that the Ravens lost games in the last quarter. It is an alarming trend.

No way, completely disagree. This was a highly successful draft class.... Dixon???  He's a beast... Stanley, Lewis, and Tavon Young especially. And then the addition of Weddle??? And had Ben Watson not gotten hurt???

3rd year in a row I been writing that something is wrong with the team. And things remain the same for 3 straight years maybe 4. I'm not talking about intangible stuff either. Things like discipline, execution, smart play are all missing. Penalties, missing chances for tds when in the red zone and goofy decisions to go for "it" when going for "it" makes no sense are all examples of what I mean. Harbaugh has never matured as a HC. He still makes the same rookie head coach mistakes he made that first year. He would make a good special teams coach, nothing more.

3 out 4 yrs missing the playoffs. The organization clearly states that they have a goal to make the playoffs every year and take their chances on the Lombardi trophy, knowing they can't get the trophy every year. Every disappointed fan has a right to be. Right now this organization is not winning. While I don't call for a head coaching change, it wouldn't surprise me if it happens.

Agree but Ozzie and DeCosta will get cute with it. They will probably trade down and stock up on project CBs that will never materialize.

While I generally agree with you...to be fair to them, they did get Tavon Young in the 4th round just last year, so it's not like you can't get starting CBs later. Richard Sherman is a pretty good example too.

You do realize the entire draft process is a gamble and ozzie IS one if the best at it right? Its rediculous to play the what if game. As far as ajayi and dixon are concerned I wouldnt be surprised if ajayi is a backup in a few years and dixon our starter. Dont get me wrong he had a great half a season but history is full of guys who had one great season before flaming out. Peyton Hillis comes to mind. To me he just has that feel. Dixon could to but to me he feels like a ray rice type guy who will just get better and better every season. Rice had a very quiet rookie season and then exploded the following year.

Weddle chose the Ravens despite plenty of other options on the open market. He drew interest from several teams after the San Diego Chargers cut him this offseason, including the Steelers and New England Patriots. Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger even gave Weddle a recruiting pitch to try to get him to Pittsburgh.

But Weddle opted for the Ravens.

So what?

Both the Steelers and the Patriots are in the playoffs while the Ravens...who once again....couldn't handle their own business is sitting on the coach like we fans.

:sofa:

Oh!  Thanks Weddle!!!! :D

Something else to consider - Jay Ajayi was drafted in 2015, Dixon was drafted in 2016...
