State of the Ravens going into 2017

A couple of things we need to do in order to make a Super Bowl run next year.

1. Aquire interior offensive lineman either through the draft or FA

2. Draft a pass rusher with the our first pick and let him start and have Suggs play on passing downs only

3. Get our Safety position figured out. Either draft a Safety or get someone younger to replace Webb

4. Add more playmakers for Joe to throw to

I think this upcoming year is it for sizzle and I don't think his play has regressed enough for him not to get that starting role he is the emotional leader of this team how I look at it is this team is pretty young I think we have something brewing here I think there should be no major coaching changes and I think we have to draft a WR or get one from FA for Joe and I mean a big Tim receiver if from free agency I don't think this team is in too bad of shape with Tavon getting a year under his belt I think he will be good but I do think CB is a major concern for us I'm hopeful for next season it stings right now thinking about today and this season but next season could be huge for us we are a decently young team if you look at us minus Suggs and SSR but I know SSR is done and I think that's what saddens me the most I love him and I really wish he could ride out on top

He's lost his speed to play every play, but he's still good enough to be a 3rd down pass rusher. I do agree that we have young players in key positions, but after losing games like today and against the jets, something has to change. Yeah it sucks the SSR has his HOF career end like this.

Going into flacco's 10th season why is WR still a huge question mark ?

No clue. Every elite QB has at least 1 great receiver. Brady has edelman, Rodgers has Jordy, heck even Winston has Mike Evans.

Mike is good but he isn't someone you build around none of our receivers are every year it's the same stuff we never give joe anyone who is an AB and Julio and OBJ we leave him with very good old players which is fine but once he builds with them they're gone I think it's ridiculous I think it's time we spend some money on a WR in FA and if we get someone good I see good things next year we may have found a new ray rice in KD and Twest is good too just gotta incorporate them more kinda dumb I think with a full offseason with Marty with offense will look good IF we sign a WR we have Benjamin Watson back next year too I can't wait to see what him and Dennis can do

I feel good about the team at this point. Yeah injuries kinda bit them at the worst times this year, but I dont think the FAs are that significant this year. No disrespect to Williams or Wagner, but I feel decent about their potential replacements- Pierce and Lewis. Juice coming back probably depends on who the next OC is. The biggest needs are probably at OLB, WR, and CB (like always), but I don't think we need any unnecessary draft reaches or overpays.

I feel better than I did 2 hours ago and I'm already excited for the draft and offseason.

I honestly just don't think this team was good enough this year that's why I think this game hurts for me but doesn't hurt like a playoff game like I thought it would if that makes sense  I really think keeping everything how it is and building will make this team very good next year  in my unpopular opinion I have Joe till then bye a free pass he was coming off a major injury that he shouldn't have been back from yet as it was and he had never dealt with a major injury before I excuse his first half of the season play but it's quite obvious once he was trusting of himself and his knee again he looked better then ever I think we are in for a treat in 2017

Yeah I'm tired of free agent musical chairs at that position. We sign good players but it always feels like a cop out to not finding/developing your own talent.

I don't think we need a change at OC I think Marty deserves a full offseason to do what's he really wants with this team

Too be fair.  Antonio Brown was in a lower class than Julio and OBJ coming out of school.  A round six pick that was a very deep gem.  Those are sort of hard to gauge.  And having an elite #1 receiver has never guaranteed you a SB.

For sure and I understand all of that but Joe has never had that target like Eli can look to OBJ and they just know to turn it up and they trust each other or Ben with AB the only person I think Joe has is Dennis and there is only so much a TE can do I understand drafting one would be hard but a FA WR if there are any gems out there idk who all will be on the market but someone young and good... Joe I really wish we never let Q go I loved him and I hate knowing SSR is done I may love him more

I'd actually be fine with keeping him because I don't think its worth starting over when there really isnt anybody better out there.

I'm with you though.  I would love to get a dominant #1 WR.  Sadly with Ozzie and John running the show, they will probably never take a chance on a super diva like OBJ, Dez, or Sammy, which rules out a lot of top playmakers at the position.  Because they don't fit the "Ravens culture"

Yeah when I think of someone like that I think Andre Johnson for some reason just a top flight WR that I feel like fits the "Raven culture" obviously long gone but just someone that came to mind when I read that

Actually there were reports that Baltimore was going to take Dez but Dallas jumped one spot in front of us. Sammy went #4 and OBJ went 13th. Unless we traded up there is no way they were going to come to us. Luckily for us this draft has good receivers in it.

Reports.  I'll believe it when I see it.  The WRs we have taken in early rounds are Mark Clayton, Torrey Smith, and Perriman.  All of whom would be on the ultra good side of character.

Yea, Andre Johnson was also the guy I pictured.  In his heyday he was one of the best at the position without the drama.

Powers and draft.  Not just that though but pass rush and wr still in question.  Returner too and OL.

" All of whom would be on the ultra good side of character." I'm getting tired of getting "good character" guys. Look at how far bad character players like pollard and Ed Reed did back in 2012 for us. Just imagine how beastly our defense would be if we took a late round pick on Burfict. Sure you can't take dumb players like Pacman Jones, but still its upsetting for me at least to see us lose our mean streak that we once had

1. Give Dixon 20 touches a game

2. Draft an edge pass rusher 1st round

3. Sign Garçon

4. Draft interior o-line

5. Corner depth

I haven't posted in a long time. I felt this was a good time to come back. I watched an abysmal offensive game plan ( calling a 5 yard stop route for ALL 3 receivers on a 3rd and 15 ) and a real failure to execute. Flacco cannot hit a receiver in stride. I counted on two hands how many times a receiver had to turn around and or stop his route for the ball. Unacceptable.

On defense, failure to generate any kind of real pass rush. Our corners were meh. If our one strength (stopping the run) held true, we would be looking at being in playoff contention next week. Bell assaulted us when he was needed to pull off a run.

We do have some bright spots on offense and defense but we are not a polished product capable of making a playoff run. Especially a deep run.

We need a good draft. We had a wonderful opportunity to get a solid pass rusher in the draft and we traded back for Correa who has done what? 2nd rounders should be difference makers. I could go on forever. This team isn't ready to hoist that Lombardi for another 2 years

First off I'd like to say thank you for your service.

While Flacco did suck this game, half of the time he had defenders closing in on him so that could have effected his throwing. Dumervil has probably played his last down for the Ravens, and even if we had Smith, I'm not sure if he would have helped that much because of the lack of pass rush. After the NE game, I think our defense started to question itself after allowing Blount to run over them. I agree we need depth more than anything right now, and theres another topic around here where I questioned our pick of KC over Noah Spence and Myles Jack. Lastly for as bad as we were today at least we're not Denver.
