[News] Ravens React To Falling To Steelers, Missing Playoffs

54 posts in this topic

Very good effort, but honestly we were just not good enough this season. Good teams find a way to win these kind of games. Mediocre teams find ways to lose them. Let's focus on some solid picks and hope some of our players show dramatic improvement heading into the 2017 season.

Did Harbaugh get fired yet? I'm no longer interested in anything this team does until we have a new head coach. I really dislike the Patriots but boy do they have some coaches over there.

Regardless of how we feel this was a great game. We played well and lost to a very good Steelers team. Take your hats off to them but be proud of the effort the
Ravens put forth. We are very close to being a very very good team.

Yes we did play well and I'm not ashamed of our boys but this is three out of four tries of not making the playoffs, changes must come, if we are going to get back to the playoffs!!!

Pitts will not even make it to the AFC title game. Ben has thrown 5 int in the last 2 games. The Ravens offense wore out the Ravens defense.

This team wasn't good enough this season especially at corner back. How many years have we been dealing with this problem. Just look at all the games we lost an most of them we lost because our corners are hurt or there getting beat like a drum. Every year we start the season an can't run the ball until the end of the season. Same stuff over an over again but the corner position has been neglected for to long an it keeps kicking us in the butt over an over again.

I'm sick of losing games that we shouldn't lose, I'm sick of our defense folding when the game is on the line, I'm super sick of this PATHETIC patchwork secondary that we keep putting on display year after year, I'm sick of players in our secondary not playing their true position, I'm sick of our team being out coached week after week, I'm sick of the lame excuses after every loss, I'm sick of people/players being politically correct and not speaking the truth, I'm sick of dump down passes, I'm sick of terrible play calling in crucial moments of games!!!!!!!! Make some changes, this has gotten to be the same movie week after week and it's boring. Baltimore Ravens football should be a much better product than what has been displayed the last few years!!!!!

I'm just as sick as you are. But I think play calling was actually pritty good this game. We just couldn't handle Brown without Jimmy. It seemed like every time we overload the box they threw and whenever we dropped extra players in coverage Bell would run for 7 or 8.

offensively, Joe put 1 up there for perriman, Waller, and Pitta but all 3 were dropped. Yes I don't expect any WR to catch those on a regular basis because they were really touch catches to make. But on any given Sunday that's 10-14 points. We came out with 6. That's game! And then juice made a fantastic play for that TD but had he fallen a yard or 2 short we would have run the clock out.

it was just that kind of a game. Tough fought game and the home team prevailed with 9 seconds left.

im just as heartbroken as anyone here but that's football. Win some and you lose some. I was much more disappointed with a few losses earlier in the season where we should have won 10 times out of 10. But oh well. If we have an offseason like last year were back on the map!

Zuttah is as good as gone, CB wasn't neglected this year like years in the past but wright busted and powers turned into a mess. We need to stop spreading the wealth at CB and just get a 5-7 mil a year CB that would push young to the slot whee he would be great. And sufficiently cover #1s "when" Jimmy is hurt. Young is def a keeper

keep your heads up Ravens.

Same old same old season after season.... no improvement at all

Not true. We improved off last year's record. Granted not much but we're not picking #6 in the draft.

Jimmy is always hurt, especially for big games, useless....

“I’m gonna live with this. I remember all of these games,” Suggs said. “They wanted it a little bit more than we did this time, and it showed by their play.”

^ And that is what is so mind boggling.  You are playing for your playoff lives BUT they wanted it a little bit more than you guys?  SMH!!

Ravens will be paying Jimmy 8 million next year.

It was one heck of a battle, a classic matchup between these two teams. The offense could have done more with the 3 dropped TD's and the defense could have made the stop on their final drive. Where was the pass rush all day? I absolutely hate it when we go into the "Peesvent" defense. Our zone coverages have been weak all season.

Scored to fast, Take the kneel at the inch yardline. Clock management, clock management, clock management. Just like Larry Fitzgerald in the Superbowl against the Squealers. He scored and left to much time. We also left a lot of points on the field.

Jimmy "WeakSauce" Smith, now you can sit out the rest of the season.

If you can't trust your defense to hold or 1:18 that's an issue. We struggled all day in the red zone. He did the right thing to score. Defense didn't get to Ben enough on last drive is reason we lost, not scoring too fast.

Yeah I'm having second thoughts about him. Not that he isn't a good player or anything. But as the saying goes "your best ability is availability"...seems like he has never completed and entire season. I'm a wrong?

The only issue I had with Pees was how he had Weddle blitzing. He was already on the LOS before the ball was close to being snapped. With our DB's you can't let a QB like Ben know that you have no one in the deep middle too soon.

fire the coaching staff

Why? Because a rookie made a rookie mistake and panic on the pass interference?...Because a receiver couldn't hold on to ball to complete the TD catch? Because snapper almost snapped ball over holders head and you missed out on 3 more points? Why fire staff?

I agree. The secondary has been an issue for a few years now. Either we draft guys that don't develop enough or we end of up with DB's that other teams do away with. I thought last year we were a good DB away from being great...then Joe got hurt and it didn't matter...Joe is back this year and we are still a good DB away from being great. Maybe we are two DBs away now because I can't see how you can keep Jimmy Smith around...too injury prone...nothing against him, but if you are not on the field how can you help?

We left too many points on the board and eventually it caught up to us. Is it me or didn't take enough deep shots yesterday? He has become more of a check down guy this year. I think offensive coordinator should be a point of interest this year, but Harbaugh seems to be loyal to guys for a least 2-3 years before something is done :(

It just sux to have played so well, mount a great comeback only to watch the same episode that's been running for 14 weeks, get a lead and surrender it. We need to improve our secondary ASAP. We need a viable pass rush ASAP. Onice again out coached when it counts. Maybe my expectations for Ravens football need to be taken down a notch. I'm thoroughly disappointed in how our season ended but sometimes that's how the ball bounces.

Ozzie............please spend some money on a #1 cornerback, and please stop bringing in old has-been players from teams.

Ravens nation please just stop trying to blame someone and face it the players are humans and they cannot always overcome things. Waiting longer to score down close is not a smart play if you remember all the 1st and goals we missed early in the season when we went for it and John was the whipping boy. Had we somehow tried to wait and then failed to score missing the chance to win it would then all be Joe's fault. SiZZLE was often in a position to keep Steelers contained in those long drives but he was having to try and stop the runner or receiver with his injured arm already extended so he couldn't grasp them with one hand to slow or stop them breaking around the edge. I saw this happen a few times and I am not trying to blame SIZZLE. I saw Brandon Williams also trying to stop big runners going past him with one hand and it just wasn't possible. Despite everything this season that has happened or hasn't happened when needed for this team I am proud of the team. I know everyone out there wants to blow up the whole organization and replace them all. But this isn't fantasy football and there isn't a coach or player store where we can go and select an entire offense or defense and new coaches and coordinators. The hardest part of this will be hearing everyone bashing our team on talk radio piece by piece the entire offseason. This team is not as bad as people think and looking across the league many teams are not much better. Believe in our Ravens and be hopeful for their future.

'Ravens best defense'. Best if they didn't play good teams that is. This team just didn't rate fair in my book. They were sub-par all season with so many stupid penalties at key points in games that it was obvious no one cared enough to do something about it. Then, yesterday they sealed their own fate with lack of guts against their main rival. Purely predictable considering the decisions made by players and coaches all season. So much potential, so little progress. Time for major team overhaul.

Old has-beens --- you mean like Steve Smith Sr or Weddle?
