[News] Game Recap: Steelers 31, Ravens 27

55 posts in this topic

Pees went into prevent defense mode in the 4th quarter and the defense got shredded. I think he over compensated for the lost of J. Smith. Wright can not give up the inside position on that play. 21 4th quarter points is unacceptable.

Ravens have to do a better job scoring in the Redzone. Too many dropped passes.

Bottom line is this team can play with anybody, but they do not have the impact players to close out game anymore.

Suggs and Dumervil are older players who don't have the burst to be elite pass rushers anymore and the secondary is not good with Jimmy and very vulnerable without him.

As I said the other day . We needed to pressure Roethlsberger . He had all day all game to pass and we couldn't even get one sack c'mon . I'm sick, one of the most painful Ravens loss . Prevent D prevents nothing but gives up first downs . Also I knew we left too much time on clock when we scored . Harbaugh says now Cincy , forget Cincy and rest Flacco . Blame falls on D and D coaches .

Za'darius Smith and Michael Pierce were getting man handled in the beggining of the game! Did anyone notice how on almost every Le'veon Bell run, the off naive lineman were just straight up shoving our D-line back like a father on his teenage son. Zadarius Smith and Michael Pierce, along with Brandon Williams looked like a bunch of clowns. Brandon Williams is good as long as the target is directly in front of him within arms length. Other than that, watching Brandon Williams pursuit a ball carrier is like watching duufus take a SAT test. His upper body is so heavily disproportioned that if he leans one way to make a tackle, or just throw his arm out, his entire body falls in that direction. Haloti was excellent in his pursuit and nifty capabilities. Lawrence guy, I think we all know that Lawrence Guy is supposed to be a backup but its still frustrating watching him.

it was flat out embarrassing watching our defense out there. It's like, whichever direction the Pittsburgh offense wanted us to go in, that's the direction they pushed our defensive line in. It wasn't so much that Le'veon Bell is "so patient". It's that our D-line was getting manhandled!!

Right now the elephant in the room is Eric Weddle. What's up with this guy not wrapping up to make a tackle??? Playing soft and unlike a Raven. I hope no one gets me wrong, Weddle is a smart player, but his tackling has been shady recently. I know he is undersized but that's no excuse. Webb is undersized but can tackle like the best of them.

Day by day, game by game..this team this staff and players are more and more unraven like.

Steve B has lots if decisions to make... highly likely new OC more committed to running,
Definitely need to fix some holes in defense. Run defense was gr8 turned avg partially cause a pass heavy offense. Partially because they fell off.
Secondary better with guys like Tavon young,Powers(F/A) but witu often injured shutdown CB Jimmy Smith Ravens must address the position early in the draft
Along with the lack of 1on1 pass rush, Sizzle at 34 shouldnt be ssck leader.
Must address this in 1st round... with new franchise edge rusher

Well said with out jimmy defense is different an he's always hurt. The front end works with the back end but we can't cover anyone to allow our old pash rushers more time to get home.

well this offseason it's very clear what must be done. with the exception of a select few (yanda, staley, juszczyk, smith sr.[in the unlikely event he doesn't retire]) fire (or trade) the entire offense. Yep, Flacco included. That whole elite argument for him is out the window.. with his cap hit, and his barely serviceable regular season performance.. he's a liability. Time to rebuild the offense. Actually the defense can use a facelift too. Use the top pick on CB replacement for Mr. Fragile or an edge rusher because Suggs is on his way out (if not this year, very soon) and Dumerville won't be far behind. oh, time for an OC that doesn't suck too.

Dumb comment! except we need to draft a cb with our first pick

The 4th quarter was as bad as I have ever seen the Ravens play on defense in the last 10 years. You give up 240 yards on 21 plays and 3 TDs in one quarter. Who does that? That's over 12 yards pr play The Browns' defense would have put up more of a battle. Horrendous. Everyone wants to blame Flacco when we lose but we put up enough points against the Steelers today, against Oakland and against the Giants to have won all 3 of those games. Every time the defense faced a really good QB (Derek Carr, Brady, Big Ben, Dak Prescott) they got their lunch handed to them They played 8 games against teams with a winning record and went 2-6. I guess when you lose to the woeful Jets you don't deserve to be in the playoffs.

You call Derek Carr and Dak Prescott really good QBs? One is a rookie and the other is average at best. No excuses for this garbage team.

Where have you been at all year. Carr completed 64% of his passes for 3900 yds, 28 TDs and only 6 interceptions. Before yesterday he was being given serious MVP consideration. So yes, I consider him a really good QB.

One decent campaign doesn't make him a "GREAT" QB. Are you gonna tell me he is Elite "like" Joe, just because he's had a decent year?

The Ravens wouldn't have been able to stop the offense in the Lingerie League today. Pathetic! Don't worry, John will look at the tape and see what went wrong, since he's the only one who doesn't see Pees called a lousy game in the 4th qtr. That's a major reason I love BB of the Pats, he knows when to cut these bums loose....Us? we know how to make a roster look nice on paper with all the retreads in the front and back of the house. Time to root for the Pats or Steelers! Two teams that have the drive to win!!!!

Hey guy if you can start cheering for the Pats and the Steelers at this point, more power to ya. I wish I could severe the connection that I have with the Ravens on a whim so my favorite team (at the moment) will always be in the hunt. Maybe whoever wins the Superbowl this year can be the team that you root for next year, until they are knocked out and then you can move onto the next Super Bowl champ. Its actually a really great strategy because your team is always going to win. If I could do this it would surely relieve a lot of stress and disappointment during these months.

That is one of the dumbest things I've ever read on this thread...and that's saying a lot. Go ahead, follow the Pats and Steelers...hell, go for the Cowboys. We don't need lame "fans" like you anyways. GO RAVENS!

This game was everything it was promised to be, of course minus the preferential outcome for the Raven's Flock. This defense fell apart right after the Miami game and hasn't been able to put together a solid performance since, while the offense which was, let's say tepid to be nice, played extremely well ever since the miami game (minus new england but that was tough sledding to say the least). If only we could have pulled it together sooner and not dropped 4 in a row in october we would have run away with the division. Instead we're out. All I can say with any great optimism is that if the second half of the season is a sign of where this team is headed next season, we are bound for sunnier shores. But it stings to say the least. On the plus side I don't have to worry about missing the opening game of the playoffs on a count of my gf's Orthodox christmas celebrations. #silverlining

Regardless we are at worst 8-8 on the season with a 3 game improvement on the previous season, some nice momentum moving into the next season, and the possibility of a big bounceback year next year. There's a lot to be optimistic about for 2017.

I like it

Now that Joe has broke the 4000 yards can the Ravens get back to a balance game plane so the defense is not wore out?

Those guys are not costing their team 20 million a year.

Our last TD drive that was capped with the Juice TD is how we should have run our offense the entire year. Sucks that we play this sorry, pass happy game with Flacco, as if he is our Tom Brady, instead of getting physical and bullying teams like the Cowboys.
Time to move onto the draft. We need a C, G, CB, and more pass rushers and a LEGIT offensive coordinator.

Umm. Unlike you, I will practically root for anyone OTHER than those two teams. BTW, what is the definition of a "fair weather fan"?

You do understand the Ravens played an easier schedule? You do understand they went 2-6 against good teams and besides Miami, only beat a Squealer team with Ben playing at 50% and a Cincy team with no AJ Green? And if they lose to Cincy next Sunday, I don't see much "momentum" in that. The Ravens have talent issues, salary cap issues, coaching issues and game philosophy issues. I am always optimistic and like most, was hoping for another 2012 year. Unfortunately, the Ravens' personnel and philosophy need major tweaks. Maybe Ozzie and staff can hit a home run in the draft?

Bye bye Marty..
I have never seen a defense go from looking so good to looking to bad in just a few weeks.
They havent had a dominant pass rush all year long, when 34 yr old sizzle is your leading saxk artist you have issues. Run defense was on lock then it fell apart personally think its personnel choices, but its still unacceptable.
Next year spend the 1st round pick on a Von Miller type Edge Rusher, whether it be Harris of Mizzou, Devonte Fields Louisville Smoot Illinois

Draft needs, and F/As
No.1 bonefied Edge Rusher
Shutdown Cb, since Jimmy is always injured
OG/T, losing Wagner likely kicking lewis outside.
DT/NT, Replace Brandon Williams is money gets to big
A WR or 2
Backup QB

You make a lot of valid points. Except Von millers don't fall to the end of the first round. We need to trade up if someone falls past 10th overall. And we sure as heck can't afford a top teir pass rusher in FA.

shutdown corner would be nice, looking back at last year's draft. 3 very good Cbs were drafted 20-30.

to the replacing B.williams. I hope Ozzie agrees. There are some great Dlinemen about to become FAs. If we can't keep Brandon then we need to pickup someone.

How can you pressure if the guys on our defensive line are weaker than almost every opposing offensive line we play

This game had everything a Ravens/Steelers battle should except the outcome that we wanted. What a roller coaster ride of emotions all game long.
