Kamalei Correa - IR'ed

31 posts in this topic

First and foremost,  Merry Christams and Happy Holidays to you and yours!

Considering that he was 10 picks removed from the 1st round, what are your thoughts on his limited play and future potential.

Considering that Doom missed quite a few games and Z. Smith had a down year, the window of opportunity was there for KC to get on the field.  Unfortunately, for whatever reason he couldn't crack the line-up.

If I had to guess, I think KC struggled with learning the defensive schemes at a NFL level and that's why he didn't play much this year.

We have a thread already going for KC where everyones opinions is pretty obvious.   But ill still state mine here.  The fact that there were numerous players on the board that are contributing on other teams when we picked KC and we have basically seen zero production from him, Im not happy with it.  I understand like many posters want to point out that hes a project pick, but a project int he second round doesnt sound smart to me.  Like with BP ill be patient....but i just dont understand the pick.

I didn't love the pick when it was made, there were others around I wanted more than Correa and still do, and at the time I would've gone in other directions than take Correa because I don't like taking such a project so high as this would've been our first pick in most years. That said, gotta be patient and hope he pans out but I'm just not optimistic here and it has nothing to do with him going to IR

Glad someone else feels the same as me...

For a total lack of anything seen from him, I just can't see any potential. And I just don't care.

He also had 4 years, I was never a fan of KC but as a rookie he deserves another 2 or so years to establish his role on the team.

He was suppose to be "instant coffee"

but I guess he was since the pick certainly left a profanity deleted taste in my mouth

Thats probably true, but what is frustrating is Myles Jack and Noah Spence were still on the board.

And Arthur brown looked great as a 4-3 mlb in college, I was ecstatic when AB was drafted  . KC looks bad so far

Its hard not to. Look at all those people drafted after us who are making impacts for their respective teams. To name a few, "Micheal Thomas, Su'a Cravens, Mackenzie Alexander..." and the list goes on who would be great on our team. Heres a link if you want to see everyone https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2016_NFL_Draft#Round_2

Where does Myles jack fit into the equation on this team?

Noah spence ,Thomas, and Boyd are the only guys I would really be kicking myself over.

Maybe having a solid backup MLB who can rush the passer as well as drop into coverage, instead of one who struggles to make the field.

I don't really see how that is much of an improvement. You're still spending a top 50 pick on a backup player.

Either way top 50 picks are supposed to help your team immediately, not play 5-10 snaps on special teams every game. Remember back in July when there were articles published about how much of a "tasmanian devil" he was during team scrimmages? What happened to that?

True, Zuttah killed us this year

The penalty on the Dixon run is fresh in my mind with regards to Zuttah. I don't think he's been awful, but the calls on him have seemingly killed drives at the most inopportune times. I personally don't want to continue playing the card of stating wanting Player X over Player Y. It's almost a moot point after the fact unfortunately, and it can be more of a hindsight analysis that grants no benefit. If we are discussing the what ifs though, I had a 1st round grade on Whitehair. Thought he was a Top 25 prospect and one of the three safest prospects in the class. For what it's worth, he's graded out as a Top 7 center, and I thought he'd make a better guard. May have given us one of the more talented lines. It's behind us though, however. I wasn't overly high on Correa, but I hope he blows up next year and kills it.

I was hoping with everything I had that whitehair was the pick.  Me and my buddies are NFL junkies and when the KC pick was announced it was just stunned silence.  It was a crap pick and I will be happy to eat crow if he ever contributes meaningful snaps.

IR or not, more than likely going to end up a bad pick.  I still don't see how you pass on Noah Spence there.

You don't pass on him. We got cute thinking Kevin Dodd would have fallen to us in the second, then we traded back thinking Spence would be there and we got served a big helping of yet again another Bad Pick

I hope he doesn't take a roster spot of a more deserving player next year just because he's a former high pick. He sucks and wasn't very good in college honestly. At the time I though it was the strangest pick ever made by Ozzie, I just didn't see anything. Maybe he can get better, I don't think so, but we'll see. Pretty crazy we might have used a 2nd rounder on a guy who doesn't even look like a decent backup or special teamer.

I wish we could get an explanation from Ozzie for this pick. I didn't see anything on his tape to suggest he'd be a successful NFL player. Seriously, what did he ever do well at Boise State? Run a little faster than most in MWC?? Ok.

Either it was overblown, hyped up reporting or something happened to him mentally following that Pitta hit and Joe verbally attacking him in Pitta's defense. Notice how we haven't heard much about him following that incident.

That to me, is the oddity ; most of us were excited about Arthur Brown. I can't think of a single poster who didn't express disappointment in the selection of Correa.

Post draft, there were some trying to accentuate his merits but his shortcomings were easy to see on tape.
