i feel a little empty tbh - i dunno how i even feel about next week now - we dont need that win - do we play the younger guys to see if they can play

like give camp, perriman, waller etc. more snaps - obviously steve as well because this is his last go round

on that subject as well this must feel horrible for steve to go out like this - to not make the playoffs because of a game like that must be excruciating

It has to hurt for Steve Smith. He will probably watch NE go to the Superbowl twice since he decided to sign with Baltimore instead of them.

Unbelievable game. Holy cow. Truthfully, Flacco did what he needed to win by leading a late drive on the road in Pittsburgh, again. He plays his best football against the Steelers. Sheesh. I'm exhausted.

So next week we play for draft pick...

that's what im not sure how i feel about - like do we play the youngsters and depth guys and tank or do we play hard (the second one obviously coz its against the bengals but there's still a part of me that wants to just tank)

KC vs pats will just be like last year KC vs pats... KC is better but so are the pats and the pats will be at home

Well I'm just going to hope that Reid and the boys learned something because I know Pitt is just going to roll over for the NE. Of course, I'd rather see the Pats win than the Steelers.

i cant think of anything worse than those two teams playing each other for a place in the superbowl - it would just be ugly

2 score lead that you don't even put up a fight to keep, offense scores again and you can't even hold them to a FG but allow the go ahead TD. How much do you need to play actual defense?

Aren't you complaning a iut sending pressure.  Well Pees sent and how successful was that?

3 TD drives in the 4th Q and people want to talk about field goal drives in the first half

get out of here with that crap

The defense choked at the end, but how would this have loiked without extra possessions?

Exactly. So stupid. Some fans really will never take the defense to task for anything.

And most never want to hold the offesne accountable for the failures they've exhibited the past 3 of 4 years, but lets gloss over that.  As bad or unclutch as the defense may have been, most of these situations dont occur if the other side actually does their job for more than a half or quarter at a time.

Please, we have crapped on the offense all season. The defense gave up three long TD drives in the 4th quarter. They are unreliable and unclutch and this has been the case for years. Stop the excuses.

I'm so ashamed! :34853_doh: I didn't get any gifts this Christmas. This was all I needed.

Invest in the pass rush, and cornerback.

It wouldn't be any worse than watching this game slip away and we survived that.

Only backup qbs, the South "champions," and KC are standing in their way.

Ugh, it's disgusting to think of what might have been. One of those foolish fourth down attempts, or the accepted penalty against Oakland, or the Jets game...

Of course, they can't win in Cincinnati so it might not have mattered in the end.

What excuse did i just make?  I agree.  I defended Pees but made no excuse for the choke job. Is it Pees fault our guys couldn't tackle a 180 pound wr or pressure doesn't get there when he sends a blitz?

Yeah, it hurts to think about.

Joe just said that this is the first meaningless game he remembers playing in, but I feel like there should have been a couple last season. I mean, I know he was injured in week 10, but by that point they had probably won like 2 or 3 games... But hey maybe they hadn't been mathematically eliminated yet.

I dunno maybe he's referring to the other team having nothing to play for either?

Can't blame him for the unneeded PI contact or Brandon Williams letting Bell slip through his fingers.

Besides, you have to look at Pees's body of work. He has coached plenty of victories vs the Steelers, just not in this game.

I think I'm on the blame-the-players bandwagon right now.

The pass rush stinks and Jimmy cant stay on the field.  Its the same problems.  I honeslty dont think hes the problem, but im not against a change depending on whos brought in.  Hate tonsay this, but this loss might be a good thing.  Hope we lose next week too.

If Juice falls down we very likely don't score at all. Can't blame him for scoring. I would say the Steelers were lucky that he made that acrobatic leap into the endzone. So many other plays, players and coaches we can blame. That was a heck of a play by Juice.

It wouldn't say very likely, if he falls at the 1 yard line then we have 4 attempts to get into the end zone. Can't knock him for making the play though, how was he to know the defense would play like amateurs on the final drive.

The pass rush is a big factor. Suggs and Doom must be replaced next season. You can't blame the DC for that.

Pees isn't a great DC, but he's good enough to win a SB so what more can you ask for? I'd rather stick with him than have a revolving door like the OCs (and they need to keep trying there).

That's it.  I have no problem replacing him, but who is out there that will be better?  When we got Kubiak we lucked into that situation.  On the offensive side I'd like to completely clean house, OC and coaches, but who won could bring in a whole staff?

At this point just praying the Chiefs defensevan win me a fantasy championship.

How was he to know? The same way WE all knew. Nobody thought the Ravens defense was going to get a stop especially if you follow the team closely.

This really sucks, but honestly, this team really isn't a playoff team and I think NOT making the post-season forces us (I hope) to make changes.  It would be nice to change our philosophy regarding spending so that we could retain & recruit helpful FAs (McPhee, and Torrey come to mind).

I also think that Joe has to have a really good/great team around him to be successful which includes a great OC.  Joe is average.  I think that's been proven and to expect him to be great is foolish.  Hopefully, we can achieve some balance with his $$ so we can attract and keep playmakers.  I feel like we've been trying to do things on the "cheap" and unless you're NE I'm not sure that works.

Defensively, Ray and Ed aren't coming through that door so we should take a page out of the Giants handbook and go get a corner, a pass-rusher or two, etc.  And I'm not sure Pees is the guy, either.

I went to the game and noticed that there was no pass rush and had a perfect view of the botched snap. Waller's drop pretty much costed us the game.

Joe did more than what he needed to.

With all due respect they choked big time.

Read the comments tomorrow.

Still it was a hell of a game, the classic battle between these two rivals. I can agree that they choked in the final quarter but it seems to always happen when we go into the "Peesvent" defense. We are not a good zone coverage team without some form of pass rush.

Waller's dropped touchdown, the botched fg snap, these 2 things change this game

That wasn't a Waller drop as it was easy to see that the defender got his hand in there and forced the ball out. Lightening strikes this team twice to go along with the infamous Lee Evans catch.

NFL gets the AFC Title Game they desire. Since Manning retired, guess they will do whatever to make sure it's Brady vs Ben and a team like us would spoil their party. Brown's momentum was stopped and the reach shouldn't have counted. If that's the case, then I guess when your tackled and down you can reach for another a yard or two and it will be legal.

Stop being a baby. We lost fair and square.
