[News] Late For Work 12/20: Steelers' Mike Mitchell: 'We're Coming For You, Steve Smith'

54 posts in this topic

They better come to play because even though we've owned the steelers as of late...this game has a whole new meaning and the steelers won't go away quietly. The last thing they want is to engage in a shoot out with Ben. Joe better wake up early and the defense has one goal...contain leveon!

If Joe plays and dissects defenses like he did against the Steelers, we'll be blown out by the Steelers. As much as I hate to say it, the Ravens will go as Joe goes. HIs decision making's got to improve as does his protection.

The Steelers aren't exactly blowing people out and had to stage a comeback just to beat the Bengals. If you have watched the games, Ben has been horribly inaccurate here recently and if we can stop LeVeon Bell, we will go a long way to defeating the Steelers.

Let's hope Marty can keep his common sense hat on through the whole game and if not lets hope after 9 years, Flacco can soon check out of a bad play. I have always noticed Flacco changing from a run to a pass, but rarely do you see it otherwise.

We need our QB to go to football college in the offseason and lets do some work on that extremely low football IQ he has. Little less diaper duty and more passing to your receivers and watching tape. It is the off-season but for 120 million we expect work in the off-season.

Joe goes as the offensive line goes. So really, it's going to depend on the protection he gets.

4 keys to the game:
1) solid O line play - gives Joe time, improves run game
2) Flacco playing well and making good decisions
3) Contain LeVeon Bell
4) Pass rush pass rush pass rush. With Jimmy Smith likely out, we cannot give Ben all day to find Antonio Brown behind the secondary.

So boiled down, it's 1 thing, good line play on both O and D.

This game, these two teams will beat the snot out of each other even more because of the implications this game has. Just hope we will be healthy enough to play the last week. lol. The blood and guts will be flying.

If history's any indicator then the Ravens will play the Steelers hard and like it always does, it'll probably come down to the final 5 minutes of the game. Granted, it did vs. the Eagles too but this time its against a legitimately good team.

the key to pit game is our secondary, if they contain all those WRs/TE, we can win, if not, get ready for the draft. we have to win out basically, if we lose 1 game we're out b/c dolphins/kc will pick the WCs

To even have a shot on Sunday, our defense needs to perform like it did for the most part of the first 14 games. We must completely shut out Bell, force Ben to look for Brown and pray we can limit their aerial assault w/o Jimmy in the lineup.

Otherwise it might not matter if we were to rush for 200 yards and throw for another 400. We would still probably be out performed offensively.

My point is, we can't allow it to become a shootout. Even if we could keep up with the Steelers in that style of game, it would come down to who can score more TDs. And I haven't been exactly filled with confidence when watching our offense go at it in the red zone.

I know it's early but honestly I'm interested to see who we will consider for our OC job.. I love Harbs but sometimes loyalty gets in the way of good judgement example (Trestman) Marty is a great team coach but his schemes are out dated.. I would like to see us go after a young gun that is hard nosed and somewhat bullish to take control of this offense and keep Joe on his toes "cough" (Kiffin-ish) before you say no remember Haley and Ben when he first got to "Diss-burgh" we don't need calm and relax been there done that.. In all until we get someone other than a friend or, a temp fix this offense will always struggle.. #GORAVENS #RAVEN4LYFE

Uhh, not really- the key is not our secondary. The Buffalo Bills' secondary shut down Pittsburgh's passing game and look what happened- Pittsburgh went with the run and Le'Veon Bell absolutely destroyed Buffalo with 200+ yards of rushing and 3 TDs. With Pittsburgh, it's never as simple as one key to the game.

We all know if we win both games we're in. Ravens just do it, so we don't have to play the what if game. However, the what if game is: If we go 1-1 and it doesn't matter who we lose to and end 9-7 we can get the #6 wild card If: Miami must lose both games (they are at Buf and then home against Pats) they win one game they have the #6 spot by record. Tenn and Den must lose at least one of their last two games to have the Ravens tie or better them and we have the tiebreaker on both. At best the Colts and Buf can tie and we have tiebreaker over Indy and beat Buf head-to-head. The first wild card slot #5 will go to either Oak or KC whoever doesn't win their division.

Merry Christmas to all and on Christmas night around 7:30 we hope to be cheering a Ravens victory to cap a great day of family celebration.

In my eyes, if we do not win the division we might might as well just not the playoffs anyway because l don't see them going to the Super Bowl as a wild card team and have to go on the road the rest of the way. They need to set up like they did in 2012 Super Bowl run; win the division and start off with a playoff home game in the wild card round then go on the road in the last two to get to the big dance.

Whether Ravens make the playoffs or not this season, one thing is for certain, this next game will be a sudo-playoff game for both teams and fans.

Bold prediction, this is the year Ravens sweep the division. Won't be easy but nothing worth doing comes easy.

All I know is Ravens Run D better show up, andI heard Vinny Cerato and others breaking down philly attacking Ravens saying they ran heavily at Judon&Dumervil. Bad run defenders or avg run defenders. Get Z.Smith,Urban and more of our better run defenders activated. You cant afford that awful run defense going forward

Hey Ravens wouldn't it be nice to have the W against the Raiders and the Jets right about now - two teams we should have beat!!!! Always making it harder on themselves by committing stupid mistakes.

Woulda coulda shoulda.  We also could have lost a few of the games we won.  Bottom line...the division title is right in front of us for the taking.  Go out and win the next 2 games and we win the division!  Doesn't do any good to look back and play the woulda coulda shoulda game.  Go Ravens!!!!

I think as long as all of our starting players do their jobs, NO penalties and Marty and Pees put together a well thought out game plan (With a plan "B" at the ready), we'll come out victorious. There was plenty of "teaching moments" on tape of the Eagles game so I hope they have drilled and drilled again that they don't make the same mistakes. Emotions will be high but the thinking process has to be calm and deliberate. Joe needs to calm down on thinking he can throw us into wins on his own and everyone just needs to be on point.
I know that's a lot to ask but if they don't, we'll get our butts kicked!

Don't worry, if we don't win the division we probably won't make the playoffs!!

Exactly, we need to do exactly as we did in the first game - shut down Bell and Brown!!!

With the inconsistency this year, I can say two things:  1) if the Ravens drop trou and blow it, I will not be surprised.  2) if the Ravens show up and dominate and win the division, I will not be surprised.

All one can do is hope!

Who says he doesn't work in the off season? You're not with him 24-7. You must remember he was injured badly and was not able to do some things until later then usual this year. He probably is still not 100% so cut him some slack. I just hope he can stay on his feet and deliver those passes like we know he can. Go Ravens.

True, although I did say back on October 23rd the Jets loss would come back to haunt us. If we take care of business that day we likely would be in the playoffs.

Hope our #1 pick Breshad Perriman shows up this week. If he was drafted in the 5th or 6th round I could live with it a lot easier. But a #! pick....REALLY?
