7 Long Years!

Since we have matched up in the playoffs. I hate your team, but it is a respect based hatred. I look forward to our two games every year, but I am really going to relish this rare opportunity to face our most heated rival in a game of this magnitude. Win or lose, there is no other team I want to face. If you pull out the win, I hope you bring home the Trophy against whatever NFC foe awaits. Whatever happens, this will be a legendary game, I can feel it! I hope the game is decided by the players, and not the refs or a fluke. I hope we both play to full potential and leave everything on the field. Enjoy the game!

Same but I hope you dont bring home the trophy because I hate to see more ban wagon steelers fans.... Just by playing a simple game of madden you can see how many more steelers opponents you versus.

This game will be great as long as our injured secondary doesnt get completely destroyed.

I'll second most of that, especially the part about the game being decided on the field by the players and not the refs. If this championship game is decided by the refs in some controversial bs call, then F the NFL and their money-grabbing corporate filth forever. I'll follow tennis.

Although I want to lose to the best team in the league, the Pittsburgh fans already pride themselves far too much on their franchise history, and adding a sixth trophy would be annoying to say the least.

There is another similarity; neither of our cities can turn to basketball, because of obvious reasons, or baseball, due to the fact that the Pirates/Orioles are easily the two most inept teams in the MLB.

I guess the Penguins/Capitals are decent/good, but really, hockey is a distant fourth.

Pittsburgh has a love-hate with their own Penguins after having being blackmailed (some taxpayers say robbed) by the franchise. Maybe our two cities should consider Backgammon? ;)

Seriously, regardless of which of us wins tomorrow, based on all the reporting I've seen, it seems the NFL brass has already designated the Eagles as the team of the year. Whether it's the Ravens or the Steelers winning the SB, either way it will be reported as a fluke.

Bring it on! It will be the most physical backgammon rivalry in the nation!

I don't know if my heart can handle another great, close game between us and the Steelers, especially with so much on the line. Nothing would make me happier than the Ravens putting them away early so I'll be able to breathe for most of the game. Unfortunately, that's unlikely.

Honestly, in March of 2008, I was expecting a terrible sports year; Maryland doesn't have a very mature squad in football or basketball, the Orioles are the Orioles, the Ravens looked terrible in training camp and the preseason, and the Wizards were without Gilbert.

Even though it's been another typical year for the Wizards, Terps, and O's, the Ravens have been quite a pleasant surprise as we have strung together a nice season, and the future is very promising.

Ahh, the O's...baseball was my first love. Embarrassing to admit now, but as a little kid I worshipped Canseco and Eckersley and Boggs, even though I was an O's fan. But Angelos has driven the Orioles name through the mud and ruined baseball for me. I stopped following it after the Homerun Chase in '98 :( ....it's all good though, love the second time around has been much sweeter!

No offense, but my love for the O's has only grown since they've deteriorated as a franchise because the weaker fans have been phased out, and when (if) they ever contend, the victories will be so much sweeter.

The Ravens fan base is a bit spoiled, and you have a ton of casuals. On the other hand, you don't find many Orioles fans who blindly root for the team because it takes determination, and a little bit of insanity.

I understand where you're coming from, though, as I wouldn't be able to support the Orioles unless I had an undying passion for baseball.

needs to be a salary cap....red sox and yankees constantly dominate!
we can't even get a crack or a ray of hope

and the baseball season has way tooooo many games like 150. that's way 2 many.
82 in basketball gets annoying as it is. my fav b-ball season was 99 when they had 50games and they all mattered.

The future will look dim w/o Rex Ryan

My favorite parts of the baseball season--Pitchers report to FL, Opening Day and the last game of the World Series  When I was younger I used to like to go to the games not anymore. I do wish the Orioles well though.

I can't say it was all Angelos...Angelos just made me angry that we had a franchise to be proud of before he came along, now it is a mess. I could've lived with that, they were still my team. What really ruined baseball for me was expansion, and then seeing Sammy Sosa's bat explode and shower the field with cork was icing on the cake. But it's a lot easier and more fun to just blame Angelos, usually I don't run into people who actually follows baseball enough for me to explain in depth why I now think baseball sucks.

Actually, the O's are 10th in average payroll over the past ten years, up there with the LA/Chicago/NYC/Boston teams, and they still stink. It comes down to the way an organization is run, just like every other sport, salary cap or not...
The future will look dim w/o Rex Ryan
We thought the same after the departure of Nolan, Lewis, Singletary, Del Rio, and others.

Spring training never fails to excite me.

Yeah even tho the O's are 10th overall in Salary the past whatever years, there is a huge gap between number 10 and the top 2... correct?? haha. I don't care how much the Yankees keep spending, as long as they keep losing. McPhail (eh, spelled wrong i think) is doing it the right way... just wait and see!!!

You're right, the Yankees do still spend a lot more than the O's, but Baltimore also more than doubles Minnesota's payroll, and the Twins are perennial contenders.

Eh, close enough, it's MacPhail.

Yeah, I'm a huge Indians fan and I have watched them do it perfect for the past 15 years I've been a fan... hoping the O's would do the same... and I really think with MacPhail around that he can make that happen!!!

It will be a great game. Too the 2 classy Pitt fans at the top of this thread I agree with you. I have been looking forward to this all week. and I have no problem with fans like you. But... my fellow Ravens fans are right about the bandwagon fans being a problem. I live in Cowboy country and somehow have found in my mist a whole pocket of them sporting Black anf Gold. These are not real fans. They cheer and complain about the Boys all year and now the proclaim themselves a Steelers fan. I on the other hand wear my pride for the Purple and Black all year. Lets pray for an injury free game on both sides, and strap it up. Heare we go. Raven vs Steelers it doesn't get any better than that.

Cal was a main reason i was an oriole fan and the memories of being there for the streak breaker the 400th homerun driving up from the bottom of va to watch his last game all will stay with me!
