Week 15: The Good, The Bad and the Ugly Comment/Vent/Rant Eagles Version!

347 posts in this topic

Ok.. Now that the dust has settled and the emotion has leveled out....

1. We won the game. We came in knowing that we needed to win out in order to make the playoffs. 1 down, 2 to go.

2. Beautiful throw by Flacco to end the first half, finding SSR for 6. That's the Flacco we all know and love.... and miss.

3. Too many rookie mistakes from Joe. Sounds like a broken record each and every week, but sheesh. I knew coming into the season we had to be patient with him coming off his injury (even Brady took a bit to find his groove after the injury) but we are 14 games in now. It's all between the ears at this point.

4. I wish Harbaugh would have said "Worst play call AND worst throw of all time" regarding that redzone INT. Would be nice to hold the 120 million man accountable as well.... like he does with other players and coaches.

5. As said in every post, the run defense was awful. The play calls seemed to be geared towards attacking the QB rather than stuffing the run. Not a good sign with L.Bell up next.

6. Whenever we have a 7 or 10 point lead, we always fail to put the nail in the coffin and score to put teams away. It's always a punt or turnover which allows teams to stick around and make it go down to the wire. It's frustrating.

7. Nice to see the run game get going. Keep handing it off!!

8. Next week without Jimmy is going to be super tough. Like super duper tough.

9. SSR looks worn out and unhappy out there. Hate to see his career end like this. Hopefully he does retire though. Next season won't be any easier.

10. I.Love.Tucker.

The good: I didn't get to watch this game and avoid a heart attack because of family commitments.

The Bad: The family commitments turned out to be a disaster.

The Ugly: Holy crap this fanbase is filled with crybabies. IDC if it was ugly. WE WON. GET OVER IT. I know half of you want Harbaugh gone, but he's not going anywhere because the worst case scenario is 8-8. Which isn't enough to constitute firing him this season. Especially since two seasons ago we were in the playoffs. I think Marty needs to go, and if Bradley somehow wants to come here, I'd take him over Pees(though he's been fine. Defense straight up didn't execute today), and ozzie needs to invest heavily in the oline, but Harbaugh is not the issue. Half of you act like we should win every game because the teams on the other side are scrubs. They're not. Carson Wentz is an incredibly promising rookie with a good set of weapons around him and an up and coming defense. They're a very young team who is going to be very dangerous in 2-3 years, especially since they have another first round pick in this draft thanks to the(genius) Sam Bradford trade they pulled off. Sure, we got lucky, but it's better to be lucky thank good. And to those of you saying that "we are worse than last year"/"CJ Mosely is a scrub".... What the hell are you talking about? Seriously? To those of you criticizing Harbaugh, he's forgotten more about football than you'll ever know. Here's the things. We're not too far away from being a contending team again. We're an interior oline, and another pass rusher and secondary member away from being a super bowl contender again. We've been through so much worse than this season, and improved SIGNIFICANTLY from the last one. Quit complaining about absolutely everything, because it's honestly pathetic. /end rant

Oh... And to add on. I'm glad the fans don't run this team. Seriosuly, we gave executive power of the franchise to the common man, they'd trade away flacco(which would be stupid), fire Harbaugh(which would be stupid), and get rid of Ozzie(which would be even dumber), whilst having a losing record every year and whiffing in 85% of the drafts.

SMH.

I was glad you weren't around - I had hopes I won't see why are you glad. Again. It got tired back before our bye week.

I'm not doing it for the laughs, I'm state that specifically to silence the fans who think we have it that badly. Seriously, worst case scenario is an 8-8 record. It's not ideal, but it's better than being say.. the Cleveland Browns. The Niners? The Bears? Aka. Franchises who never learn. It's not a losing(or winning) record.

Sometimes you just here things around here that are just so infuriatingly asinine. I looked at the game thread for maybe.. 3 seconds today in the middle of the commitmment(one in which involved a screaming match with a disgruntled father who was complaining about something that was actually worth complaining about). Every time we don't blow an opponent out, the same people come out and spew their crap.

Now, make no mistakes, I have no beef with you all black raven. You're a  respectable, quality poster and we've had fun playing these games, and I understand where you're coming from because truth be told, I'm tired of saying it too. But when we have people who act like they're entitled to victory, then they honestly ruin the potential for good discussion to be had. They're are several posters, yourself included, whom I'd LOVE to have a discussion with about what we could do better. I'm a ravens fan living in colorado, they're not too many of us out there. I'm kind of mad it's become my catchphrase of sorts because it is getting old. But the notion that "we're going into a dark era" is also beyond foolish. That was the ugliest thing about the game by far.

And this was an ugly game. But we usually pull out one or two of these a year.

We're gonna be fine in the long run. I trust our management.

There are too many privelidged fans on message boards around the NFL.  @LosT_in_TranSlatioNis not one of them.  He is level headed and makes it known that he believes the fans would ruin this team AND I agree with him 100%.  Be patient, we are not far off.

We laid an egg today, by we still won, last I checked.

I don't question the intent/message but it's been heard far too many times.

The lack of commitment to the run still boggles my mind.  It's not like it's not working anymore.  It's been working fine for the last several weeks, so why abandon it?

Mary has always had a high passing offense, but the lack of run plays is very concerning. If it isn't working okay but why abandoned it if it works.

Lol, I get it. But so has the "end of days" talk. And my catchphrase has been around for months while these talks have existed since before our super bowl win. Problem there is it becomes impressionable on younger fans who join the message boards to learn more about football(like I did). I'm saying it for their sake.

i think the reason marty doesnt go to the run enough is because it's a very boom/bust run game - we have way too many dead plays, but we also break big ones - the ypc is quite good but the volume of dead plays makes it difficult to trust - now what would help that improve is of course higher volume which creates rhythm etc. which could only help but i can see why marty wouldnt trust it - my hope is that now the run game has shown some high volume effectiveness that he continues to use it and integrates it more and more

We need to send an amber alert out for Breshad Perriman

He had his drop for the day, and made one play drawing a PI on 3rd down, classic Perriman, one play one drop.

Lol honestly, and I said this on the FB page also, the "fan" reaction and talk is the EXACT same in KC. All calling for Reid and Smith to be canned after they just lost to the Titans. It's hilarious how the feel and mood expressed are almost word for word if you switch Reid/Smith for Harbs/Flacco.

Good: West, Dixon, Tuck, Wallace

Bad: BOTH lines, PlayCalling, Flacco. Everyone gets that the OL is bad, but Ducasse was signed as a emergency backup and we've unfortunately had to use, because the rest of the backups are even worse, and Zuttah is horrible. This is all known. But the DL was a shocker in how bad they played today. ZERO excuse for that. They knew Philly was gonna go run heavy because no rookie QB is gonna come in and throw all over the place even without Jimmy, and they still couldn't do anything about it. As for the pick, I'd be more impressed if Flacco would just say "Yep, the call came in and I was greedy, and didn't go through my reads because I screwed up and wanted to get Sr the TD and that's entirely my fault". Joe just man up and say it.

Ugly: The win. No matter how you slice it yeah we won, and got smoked in every aspect of the game except passing yards. 95% of the time if you hold those stats up side by side you'd say THAT team won. And THAT was the Eagles. Embarrassing showing on possibly the last home game of the year.

If any other team in the league went from 5 wins to 8 wins (with two games left) and a shot at the playoffs, they'd be praising the FO and coach and worried that one or two of their coordinators would get picked off.

Ugliest win of all our ugly wins. Man I thought for sure they were going to blow it. I'd be lying if I said I wasn't nervous about these next two games. At least we pulled it off; at the end of the day, the W is all that matters. Anything is possible.

If we lost this game, all these flaccos lover will bang on Flacco for that costly int and field goal range. But since we stole the win, they turn a blind eye and all is right. Smh

The thing is, we won the game because of Joe throwing that perfect pass to SSS. He was the one that gave us a lead in the first place.

was the least he could do after fumbling giving the eagles the ball at our own 8 yard line which lead to their first TD....

LMAO!  Fumble.  smh

Philly had to punt twice in this game.....two times, both in the first quarter. Not hard to figure out why this game was such nail biter. Man I hope this was just some sort of a hangover from Monday. It would suck to have the steelers just walk up and down the field Christmas Day.

Was just saving the defense the embarrassment of another 60-70 yard scoring drive that the defense would have given up as they get manhandled up and down the field.

It's unfortunate Flacco made that one mistake at the end of the game, had he not, we're all singing a different tune as we're looking at a nice 30 point performance with minimal TOP, let's just all be happy we're still alive, while not preferable everyone agrees ugly wins > pretty losses.

I was about to post the same thing. Y'all, if we run the ball or if Flacco sees how open Waller is, there's no INT and we're up 34-17 with 6min left. Eagles can't run anymore and it's a done deal. Let's just settle and hope this type of call/execution will never happen again.

Yeah, at the time Flacco fires it he isn't because he's in the LB zone, but 0.5 seconds afterwards he's got nothing but green grass around him.

Yea you're right, if Joe waits a second more he has an easy TD. Forcing it to Steve, at least that won't happen next season for better or worse.

I agree with you to an extent, but its not the coaches who make bad plays.

This right here.

A few weeks ago Flacco and Morningweigh had words when Flacco publicly called him/his game plan out.

Now he's coaching bad because he gave the player what he wanted.  Obvious not the best call but a coach has to trust his player not to make a stupid decision.

It's obvious Flacco made a premeditated decision to throw the ball to that spot no matter what he saw.

Years ago I stated more than a few times here, Cam Cameron understood Flacco was limited and coached within that.

The common thread in 5 offensive coordinators and years of poor offense . Flacco does have his good games too,but he still throws off his back foot,he still has many games where he is very inaccurate. He is the ravens q for the next several years,,it is what it is. Instead of being suprised by throws like that,we should just accept that and try to improve the running game ,imho.
