Steve Smith Tirade at practice

Apparently he ripped off his helmet and threw it 15 yards towards the end zone and booted a ball that was laying on the ground, after 2 straight overthrows by Flacco.  Smith, then walked to the corner of the indoor facility and sat by himself.

Trouble for the Ravens?  Is our team falling apart?

I would imagine this happens on about 50% of all training camp/preseason practices on all teams and probably even more so in regular in-season practices.

idk man. i agree in TC with heat and so much on the line... but later.. if it was normal it wouldn't make the front page of nfl.com.

I would guess it doesn't normally happen in the small part of practice open to the media.

Nothing new for Sr. I'd rather him doing this and sitting in the corner by himself than assauling Joe lol. Hell of a lot better than him getting in a physical altercation with a teammate.

As Mod said, this kind of stuff probably happens all the time, just not in front of the media.

And of course its the headline on NFL.com... its a Thursday. Its a slow news day.

No doubt that with what is on the line for the Ravens these next 3 games...Steve just got sick and tired and frustrated about those overthrows from Flacco.  They got to go out there and get this thing done...yes....for themselves but with Steve in mind.  Send the man out right!

GO RAVENS!!!

Its probably his way of trying to fire up Joe Flacco but it could also have the opposite effect. What we need from our receivers is less "its all about me" and more of what NE's WR Logan did to us, which is get wide open. I wonder if Joe and Steve stayed late to work out the kinks and get on the same page. If not, sitting in a corner pouting while the rest of the team practices won't help. But then again, what can the Ravens do to Steve, fire him? Too late! NE picked up Michael Floyd off waivers.

Right, the headline should be that SSSr didn't break somebody's nose this time. This is nothing new for him, he's always been a hothead. What probably bugged him even more is Joe's demeanor that he never seems to get rattled, upset, or angry about anything. The only time I ever saw Flacco heated was when Mason got in his face about something on the sideline. Flacco finally had enough and blew up right back at Mason and Mason simply walked away. Whatever Joe said must've made an impact.

Yeah, after Floyd got busted for a DUI.

I think you are overthinking it... He's probably just sick of the overthrows.....

Good for him. They need to be ticked off.

Problem is Joe needs to be ticked off. I think he is more concerned with hanging with his kids then doing his job.

if smith was way downfield I reckon its a positive since flacco has been underthrowing the open deep man

I don't know if anyone noticed SSS yelling "throw me the ------- ball!" when he made that catch late in the game vs NE.

If SSS does retire after this season then I can almost guarantee that he'll have something to say about Joe.

untill then, we have the playoffs to make. Keep your head in the game and keep grinding. This team is extreemly talented and I'm trying my best to stay optimistic. If we click then no one will want to play us in the playoffs. If we don't then this could be a loooooong offseason

The marginal of error is so small and Steve is well aware. Philly, Pittsburgh and Cincinnati is no cake walk. We cannot have our QB looking so pedestrian, especially if a shoot out were to occur. Flacco is our QB and I love him, but starting last season, a lot of his mechanics have been off. Deep ball is often under thrown, medium throws are being tossed way over the receivers heads and he isn't consistently planting his foot while throwing. Don't get me started on the horrendous balls that fall in the middle of nowhere when there is no pressure on Flacco either.

Ever think he may have been mad at himself? Maybe he needed to get on his bike and get to the ball.

That's hillarious lol

But in all seriousness, I doubt it. If your pissed off at yourself you get back in the huddle and demand the ball again and again and again till u get it right.

I agree. Steve probably wants one more shot at a Lombardi and he knows they need to start winning right now! They need to get SSS this opportunity!

I get your optimism, but even in the 12 season the team had shown potential.  They were just inconsistent.  This team has had a total of one complete game, where the offense actually showed up.  Besides one Dolphins game, there is not much of a reason to have faith in this team as a whole.

I absolutely agree. We've only had 1 complete game but I'm not asking for complete games. Just an average offense and let's see how far this D can take us. We gave the Patriots 14 possessions. 14! I'd like to see how well we match up if we hold to under 10 and actually get some points on the board.

im optimistic because I believe if we give this D to any of the top 10 offenses in the NFL they win the SB.

I'd say if we even had a top 15 we'd be able to compete.

not sure we watched the same game the pats pushed our d around some and though we pressured brady he was sacked only on a Weddle blitz.  our secondary has holes.  you saw weddle get burned and tavon young get targeted.  its not a bad D but its not a killer D either.

it starts in philly what we do in that game says a lot about our season. its fitting though isn't it, to get in the dance we have to beat our nemesis again. We have to win that one in pitsburgh.  all the marbles are on the table and it will be playoff game. what more can you ask for!!!@!!!!

Does Joe work extra after practice with receivers? He might but I don't remember ever hearing that he does.

Anyone?
