[News] Ravens Will Play In London In 2017 Season

27 posts in this topic

Glad we have that clause stating all home games have to be at M&T Bank. Don't particularly care, as long as we aren't losing a home game, where we end up playing. Will be exciting for the team to travel to another country.

Will be less exciting for me and my hangover to be waking up early that Sunday.

Will be there, been waiting for this for years, shame it's a road game (would have loved to have seen Wembley decked out in Raven's colours) but hopefully there's enough of us Raven's fans over here to make it feel like a home game anyway.

At last!! As a UK fan I'm so excited the Ravens are finally coming over without having to give up a home game.

Its in their contract. The Ravens can not give up home games.

On last night's game..Ravens proved they are not ready to contend. Why are Hester and Elam still on the team, someone please tell me. Even if Ravens make the playoffs, and I think they can, I don't see them making any noise there.

Now, concerning the game in London; this will be my first chance to see them in person. Soooo looking forward to this!

Hester is still on the team because his contract is fully guaranteed and we don't have anyone else on the team who can even fair catch punts or kicks (if you remember from the preseason). As for Elam, he's looked good playing at SS this season, but we had to put him in the slot because Powers was out of the game. Elam still isn't (and never has been) good at coverage from the line, ergo Brady audibled and we all saw what happened.

More disappointed in Weddle for not sitting back on the play to be honest - we know he's lightyears ahead of Elam in terms of coverage abilities yet he still screwed up royally on the play.

I would be talking about next season too.. This team looks like the pre-2000 teams. I can't tell if flacco is better than boller at this point of his career.

Wow, wonderful! We get to stink up the joint in prime time in London now?
Football was a much better game when money wasn't the top priority. Now you miss plays because they're doing something else when they should have the camera on the field. Or coming back from commercial only to have the announcers restate the same commercial garbage again when we should be back on the field. As far as making the trip to London to watch them play, what kind of salaries do they think we fans have? That's about 5K for 2 people plus game tickets and that's if that's all you do is go to the game. Would be nice but don't have that kind of money to throw away on a single football game. I guess there will be a bunch of Baltimore Doctor and Lawyers able to attend but us blue collar working class folks will have to stick with our $100 jerseys and $8 beers.

As long as we don't have to give up a home game I'm all for playing in London...nice to show the fans across the pond how a real NFL team looks.

Great, Joe can show internationally how bad he is and his "CHECK DOWN" offense. At least England can have a good laugh.

Wow...pretty harsh about someone who won a Superbowl.

That was Then, This is Now. Joe looks like he could give a crap when he plays now. Besides so did Trent and what happen to him?

SSSr. and Webb can both fair catch punts and I'm betting metrics will say it is better to take the touchback on kicks than run them out.  Hester killed field position for the Ravens at least three times last night and has been doing that all year.  AND THAT IS HIS ONLY JOB.  Money not withstanding, I'd rather see his roster slot go to Reynolds.  Let's see if the kid is worth keeping.

he was elite for 4 games and that was 4 years ago. since the big $$ he has been a tad better than kyle boller and with that money you need to carry a team on your back like brady and the other top dogs do. i still believe we should see what we can get for him in a trade and free ourselves from that contract. brady showed fire and passion last night and the team responded. joe and the offense play with no fire or passion until it is too late.

This is just one more reason this is my last year watching the NFL. Sorry in today's world the NFL has only Sunday Ticket for people who live outside of Maryland to watch Ravens football games week to week. After paying $250 for the season of that just to find out 1/4 of the games or more are blacked out because they are on Thursday, Monday or broadcast on a local station. Then having to get Sling TV to watch those games. So in order for me, a native of Baltimore who lives in Washington state because of my wife's military obligations, I have to pay over $400 a year to see the game?

The NFL also needs to learn the nation in National Football League, is the United States, not the United Kingdom. You want to see a game live and in person, fine come to America.

The NFL is a business I get that but they are already making tons of money. The owners are already millionaires or billionaires, how rich do they have to be to be satisfied? That has become the problem with this country and the world for that matter. The rich even though they have tens, hundreds, or thousands of times more money then they will ever need in their lifetime, their kids' lifetime and maybe even grandchildren's lifetimes; they all want to get richer. When people get that rich it just means everyone below them gets poorer. There is only so much of the pie to share. This type of greed just makes it so the people at the bottom often don't make enough money to survive and the NFL through their actions aren't only supporting that they are helping to create it.

Then you have the players who more and more are becoming nothing but thugs or maybe just with the media and social networks today it is finally being exposed. I doubt it really is anything new it just wasn't reported before. You have players that make in their career over a hundred million dollars and five or ten years after they stop the game many if not most are broke. Sorry, that is sickening.

I don't want to hate on the players because even though by my standards they get rich. Even most of the unknowns make more money in the matter of a few years than my father made during his lifetime working 40-80 hours a week. There is no way they should be broke in their 40's or 50's when they made that much money in their 20's and sometimes 30's and early 40's.

Them, the NFL and their sponsors don't respect us, we are just the fools who pay their paychecks while we struggle to survive. Even their salutes to the military or Breast Cancer and other charities are just public relations so they make more money. The players often do put their hearts into it but the owners are on both sides, they may feel for the poor but in reality, they helped create the poor.

The NFL won't do this because it may eat into a little of their profits, but my first complaint is so easy to fix. First, stop trying to move into new markets outside of this country. As Baltimore fans should remember how it feels when you don't have a home team, there are many cities here in the US that want teams. Time zone changes are hard enough on teams when they are 1-3 hours different, teams don't need 5-8 hour time zone changes or the crazy travel times to play in the UK.

Plain and simple with things like this, the rule changes making the game "safer" for the players but taking the hits and tackles that made the game worth watching, the NFL is destroying the game. I stopped watching MLB after the strike canceled the World Series. The only baseball game I have been to after that was a game where the Orioles played the Pirates we got free tickets to because my wife got swore into the US Army as part of the pregame show in celebration of the Army's birthday. I loved baseball as a child. I can get used to not following, and not spending money on football. Too many other things to do for pleasure and too many other things I can spend my buck on.

Was a Ravens fan from day one, was an Orioles fan from as long as I can remember. Got to see the greats from the mid 70's on until I stopped following in the 90's. Will always be a fan of the teams when I just happen to see the scores, just can't keep following and spending money when in truth I know to them I don't matter.

It would be so easy for the NFL to show more respect to fans. To still make a profit but to stream games online and use technology to bring people in other markets the games in a reasonable matter. The $250 a year I could deal with if I got to see every Ravens game. Stop the blackouts, you aren't increasing ticket sales, you aren't increasing viewership on TV, you are actually closing the door on a market that has fans that have followed the NFL for decades. I've been to about 20 Ravens games, over a hundred Oriole games in the 70's and 80's, even a Baltimore Colt's game when I was a small child. The Stars, Stallions, Skipjacks, and Blast also, so for Baltimore teams, I always gave them my support until they turned their backs on me, on the fans, went out of business or left.

This season is paid for, but this is my last...

Yeah it's a lot of money, but turn it into a holiday, London's a great city and there's plenty to do there, I make a 300 mile trip 4 or 5 times a year to watch my Footie team (sorry refuse to use the S word) and am delighted I'll be able to go and see the Raven's play at Wembley next year and really hope a lot of you guys make the trip as I would like to meet some of you. I am at some point in the future planning on coming to a game over there but for now just so grateful the NFL give us Brits a chance to watch the games, it is growing rapidly over here.

Flacco didn't get his contract because he was elite for 4 games. He was offered a big contract before that SB run, and he was once again the best qb in the postseason in 2014, and he would have been in consecutive SBs if Lee Evans would have held on to a perfect pass. Flacco has been elite the whole time. You can give Brady credit for carrying a team on his back, but his team wins without him. They went 11-5 without him and had one of the best offense's in the league in 2008, and they were 3-1 without him this year. The Ravens were 5-11 in their last full season without Flacco, and last yer, we were 2-4, and we averaged just over 12 points/game without Joe, which was easily dead last in the league.
Flacco does carry the offense. We have no run game, wrs who struggle to get separation and drop too many passes, horrible pass protection, and an OC who doesn't make adjustments very well. Without Flacco, we would struggle to win any games, even with a great defense. Before Joe got here, Baltimore was a place where a qb's career came to die. We hadn't won a playoff game in 7 years. Flacco and the team as a whole have had a ton of success since then. Saying he was elite for 4 games is nonsense.

Fans were saying the same things then. In December of 2012, fans were bashing Flacco, saying he's terrible, should be benched, can't win a SB, etc. I bet you were one of them.

Wow! Can hardly wait. Good times. I get exhausted when FBAJ blows a one o'clock game, and I have to be bummed from 4PM on. Now I can be pissed before any other games even start at 1 o'clock!

This is great for our UK brethren and other European fans that want to make the trek to see their team. Outside of that, the NFL and the media are blowing this way, way out of proportion. As a fan in the states, I could absolutely care less about where this team plays when not playing at the Bank.
