we look like - new #1 corner, #2 Jimmy, Tavon slot, - backups - wright, canady, another slot corner not powers

2014 injured, 2015 injured, 2016 looks like were going down the same road

Wrong.  Elam was on the field bc Powers had to leave due to a concussion.  They moved Webb to the slot corner and Elam took Webb's spot.

Everybody jumping up and down saying its s legit injury rah rah and this is stupid but if a guy is constantly getting injured or getting knocked out of games it's an issue - particularly when we struggle once he goes down.

I think he's a bit on the tall light side, doesn't seem to have the strongest legs either - you can't deny his injury history - it's becoming a contributing factor to our losing too.

Im not saying cut him or he's a bad player but how about throwing a couple more picks at the position, so we aren't left in the same boat repeatedly.

Yes the op was a bit over the top but if the same problem happens in 2014, in 3 big games this year - as I said before to we just watch the game with our fingers crossed hoping nothing goes Jimmys way or do we actually build some solid talent across from him - has to be done this year - quite happily spend a 1st and one of our 3rds on CBs  this coming draft

The team needs to find a corner, or draft one next year, that actually plays and can cover the better receivers. As high as he was drafted, he has not been a good investment for this team.  The team had chances to get corners in past drafts as well as receivers. Ozzie has failed at doing this. Accept it, and move on.

Plus Elam has played this season while J. Smith was on the field. So why did he play in those games when all of our CBs were healthy?

When healthy he's the best cb we have. So any discussion about getting rid of him needs to start with lessening the reliance on him.i.e better drafting at the cb position. 

 

Its just funny how when discussing a top players injury it's always "well just cut him" as opposed to why the position group falls off so much with that loss.

Hope you dont think i was suggesting cutting him, merely just stating that the OP literally contributed nothing, rather than just pointing out the fact that Jimmy has an injury history and we are all frustrated with it.  Doing so makes him sound like one of those people that complain about who gets elected president but never bothered to vote.  Zero contribution

Love how this post got all negged up - happy to be proven wrong but if we don't throw some resources at the corner position I'm pretty confident will be sweating on Jimmys fitness next year or dropping games when he goes out with an injury 

ill come back and find the post and bump it when it plays out that way next year

He didn't practice today so he probably won't play on Sunday. Unfortunately I wouldn't be surprised to see him shut down for the season to let him get healthy for the P word. I have enough confidence in Tavon to have him contain Green and Brown

I don't have enough confidence in Tavon in AB that's a tough matchup honestly with the season on the line if we win this Sunday if he can manage to play through it against the steelers I think he will

If there is one thing I don't have optimism with is our secondary without Jimmy just look at the stats I think we will be fine against the eagles but we need to be full strength against Pitt

Jimmy is a legit top 10 corner when healthy. He plays physical and that has consequences, such as getting injured. We just need another big physical corner in the draft. So that we are not mismatched when facing a Dez Bryant or AJ Green. Depending on our order I would love a corner or top notch guard with the first pick.

I felt sorry for Jimmy; didn't you guys see how frustrated Jimmy was when he hurt on the play at goal line?

 

Nobody felt as bad as Jimmy cuz he knows his team need him...

 

Stop bashing on Jimmy for injury prone cuz most of his injury is due to the bad luck.....

 

I hope bad luck will leave him alone from now on....

 

PS: if Jimmy was healthy all his career, he should be top 5 cb, seriously...

I agree when he got injured he seemed so frustrated on the field I've seen very few people act like that when injured you know he's gotta hate going down so often he knows this team needs him

Yeah and his reaction also speaks to the potential seriousness of the injury. I'm thinking we'll be fortunate to make the playoffs without him and we won't see him until the 1st round of the postseason at the earliest.

There isn't a chance in **** Jimmy is back for the Steelers of Bengals game if his injury is a true high ankle sprain. 

Its usually a 4-6 week injury which impairs the ankles ability to plant and cut. CB is probably the position with the most of that outside of WR/RB. 

Ill hold out hope, but until they come out with a proper diagnosis, I will believe what the professionals believed it looked like and go from there. I'd be surprised if we seen him before the playoffs.

People keep ripping Elam but Weddle already took responsibility for that play. I guess you can say that Elam should've covered the post but that would have opened it up for someone else.
