[News] Game Recap: Patriots 30, Ravens 23

27 posts in this topic

I just don't see this group getting it done. Same old hurt our self offense. If not for the couple special teams plays, we'd have gotten smoked. SMH. I hope our birds prove me wrong, just don't see this year panning out. Think we were a bit too slow down the stretch as well.... again. We need some life thrown into the offense. Please prove me wrong!

I knew they'd throw all over us as soon as Jimmy went down with the ankle injury. If he's out for the season or even two weeks, I don't like our playoff chances. Our depth in the secondary is just not good enough to cover up his absence...

Well once again the Ravens offense starts off slow an has to score a million points in the second half to win. I wonder when our front office will put more effort into finding more quality corners. We lack quality an depth at db every year but we every year an think we can get buy with second and third tier guys. Jimmy is our best corner but he can't stay on the field consistantly. Once he goes down we give up all kinds of yards in the passing game. I'm soooo sick of our corner situation. I do like tavon young but he's to small to take the number one spot when jimmy goes down. O well... Maybe we can win out the rest of the season.

Even if Harbs isn't lying about Elam and I think he is covering for him, he was still the reason that TD happend, if he wasn't responsible his slip made someone else have to cover his guy and opened up the play.

Also, how many games must Hester cost us before they cut him?

Finally, what did West do to land in the doghouse? He has proven his ability, Dixon is still fluky and should not be the feature back yet. That safety happend because it was Dixon and not West.

Marty ball fails again. He and John and Joe must of thought they were playing the Fins again. Right from jump street "Gumslinger" mode pass it 50x run it 10x.
And thats where the game was lost.. in the 1st half ended 16-3 with Flacco having like 25 passes to 5 runs. Unacceptable No balance etc. The object is to keep Brady off the field and to keep the defense fresh.

As great as Brady is, he didnt sling it 50x. Bill Bellicheck knows Balance is important. Blount had 20 carries for 70 yards.

No reason on Gods green earth the way Dixon is looking lately he cant get 20 carries, a game. Get back to Ravens identity, because the lack of offensive identity is killing this team and is going to be downfall of a legit deep playoff run defense.

You gotta run the ball in December,January,Etc

We didn't learn a whole lot from the Miami game. We went back to dink and dunk, throwin 2 and 3 yard passes that get us nowhere. We talk all the time about our defense making other teams one dimensional and yet we do it to ourselves. We should have came out running. I couldn't believe how slow we are getting to the line when we need 10 points and only have 5 minutes left.

Flacco looked rattled most of the night . What's with all those short passes ? Drove me crazy.

Patriots coverage. Most of the time they only rush three and everybody else was covering. Tough to find somebody open when they rush 3 all the time. They should've did more withdraw plays so it allows them to change thier defensive scheme.

5 Things to Watch Vs NE

1) Get blown out early.
2) Lethargic Flacco passing short of the marker with no help from the OL.
3) Late Special team heroics to make it very interesting down the stretch.
4) Allow a 79 Yd TD in the following play.
5) Watch the most lackadaisical, lifeless, with no-sense-of-urgency offense try to mount a late comeback.

6) Lose.

Hen826957, Even more reason to Run the dang ball!!!! If the pats were playing 8 in coverage most of the time to prevent big plays, run them out of it. Any smart OC or Qb makes a living off that. Peyton Mannings whole career..if he saw 7 in the box or less he would switch to a run, 8 in the box or more he would pass.

You run them out of their 2deep, 8 in coverage.
2ndly) You have layered routes like they have had in previous games. You have plays that have a deep 9 route for Perriman,Walkace that carries safety coverage, in middle layer you crosses, for Smitty, Pitta etc that take the lbrs and underneath you have a dump off for Juice&Dixon

2 ways to beat overloaded secondary coverage.. That wasnt used this game

That's exactly what I was thinking on that safety. I would've came out throwing deep honestly because of the 46 defense the patriots were in. Our o line isn't good enough to blow them off the line of scrimmage. Joe should've audibles or atleast west should've been the rb.

Yup. We've been dealing with this corner situation for years an the front office won't do anything about it.

Not getting stops before half time and allowing long bombs for TD late in games have plagued this team in the Harbaugh/Pees era.

And your biting/copying my avatar is plaguing me.  :D

This is not a good football team.

Tavon was supposed to take over on Hogan as Elam went to cover Mitchell. Watch the play and tell me who Tavon was covering? (his man broke in - Elam went to cover then realized Brady was throwing to Hogan which made him stumble). Weddle was supposed to be the SAFETY. For a minute, I thought it was Will Hill back there.

And it was Juice and his horrible run blocking that caused the safety. how does a fullback get blown up 2 yards in the endzone on a run play? West is a plodding RB - get hit - fall forward. Dixon is clearly the better running back.

I think the game showed weaknesses of the team.

Weddle w\is a good pick-up, but this defense still gives up big plays. Ravens need a safety with range.

Lack of depth in secondary. We need another CB. J. Smith can't go an entire season without injury. CB,S should be offseason priority.

Lack of commitment to the run game. Pats did what I thought they would do. Try to take Pitta away and cover up their poor secondary with dropping back. They rushed 3 a lot. Should have been easy to run against then get big plays out of play action. The problem is Ravens do not commit to the run.

Flacco is a poor pre-snap QB. For example, when Pats d-line shifted, he should have checked out of the play, but he runs right into the strength of the defense and the result was a safety. If Pats only rushing three, then he should have time to do more than dump offs.

It does not matter who at fault because next week it will be somebody else.. This secondary is terrible and has been since 2013. Come next year Jimmy will be the second highest paid player on the team who will be lucky to play 3 consecutive games. Webb chases numbers .

Your exactly right. Flacco doesn't audible when he sees something he just hikes the ball an we run or throw into a wall. I don't no why Elam is still on the team other than he's a first round pick an they don't want to cut him.

If they dont start running the dang ball John&Marty both will be fired. Every fan an expert in the city has been saying the samething since week1, and Joe still leads NFL in pass attempts. Thats a losing policy. Flacco is not Aaron Rodgers the rare QB who can chuck it 50x a game with little run game support and win.
Brady even has a run game Blount 20 for 70yrds.
You gotta run the ball!!!!! Dixon is a stud, he looks like a mini Ray Rice dual threat, and West is still good too...Run the ball. Set up playaction just like Pats did, thats our playbook
