Week 14: The Good, the Bad, the Ugly discussion/rant Patriots edition

515 posts in this topic

Here's what I know... Patriots are the luckiest team in the NFL. Always have something go their way, wonder where they be without the luck and where Brady would be. If their terrible field didn't injure Jimmy Smith's ankle, they don't score 30, NFL needs to look into the field conditions at Gillette Stadium before someone tears an ACL.

Marty needs to go. If we didn't take all that time to line up, we could have had more time to try to get a better deep shot for the win. We need to institute trick plays because our offense is so vanilla. Fake Spike similar to Pittsburgh, Statue of Liberty, invent some new trick play, etc. Put Mallet in at QB and let Joe go catch a pass like he did in his rookie year, or least use him as a decoy to help get someone else open.

Pittsburgh, you got lucky for one week, and if they still want the division they better hope New England's field put Jimmy out for that game. The Division is still there for the taking. Please AJ Green be healed up for next week and crush the Steelers while we likely bounce back against the Eagles. Sorry to the Chiefs that Marty didn't want to help you in your quest for the one seed.

Those who think that we embarrassed ourselves, looked out-classed, etc. would have to honestly admit: You got excited when we fought our way back...didn't you? We we loss, but we made it a game and a few more plays....

Nobody hates the Patriots more than me, but we still gave them a game that could have easily gone either way.

Yeah , my bad. Nothing to do with comprehension though. You just are always hammering on the offense so I admit that I just stopped reading.

If you just stop reading as you say...there is no need to quote me and comment.

Or should I join the negativity and say the coaching staff sucks and the entire team should be cut?

No, acknowledge both the positive and the negative. But I think you would admit there were far too many negatives tonight.

In the end Classic Ravens, always fighting, that's Harbaugh

We miss coverage in our secondary.  Lack of corners, Jimmy always seems hurt and no consistent rusher.

we need another outside corner - powers needs to go, young to the slot, can man up on the shifty guys, jimmy and other corner on the outside, if our 2nd corner is solid, wright on #2 wr isnt horrible - sometimes

If Jimmy Smith's ankle doesnt roll up the Patriots dont score 30 ?? He is no Pat Peterson, Richard Sherman, Chris Harris, Talib, Butler, Peters or any other CB of that caliber.  Heck, Earl Thomas IS of that caliber db for SEA and GB STILL would have blown out GB just based off of the way they played.. with that being said Tom Brady still would have scored 30 points and one player thats not even elite doesn't prevent 3 TDs and 400 yards.  Additionally, 14 pts were gifted wrapped to you guys that is the only reason this was barely even a game.

Like seriously a lot of teams in the NFL envy the success this team has had over the last 9 years one bad season and that season is do to injuries to almost every star player on the team and this year we control our destiny we are one of the most spoiled fan bases behind the pats over the last nine years so many playoff appearances yes it sucks to lose it hurts me too but man it's one game against arguably the best team in the NFL and the greatest QB of all time yes there was bad in this game but every game has its bad except last week we had a mountain to climb this week and we came up short we have 3 games left and could possibly win our division and people are calling for our entire coaching staffs heads and multiple players I just don't understand any fan base would die to have the success we've had except the patriots fans yet we lose one tough game and now we are playing for draft picks and should rebuild... stop it some of you should be on next mondays come on man

The good: we faught back and played tough, better than a blow out and gave me hope for this season. dixon ran hard against a good tackling New England team. Orr played good.

The bad: Hester needs to go. No pass rush. Elam is gone, which makes me wonder why Levine wasn't used?

The ugly: jimmy smiths ankle, offensive play calling( I don't think our oline is that bad, we just have no scheme) and that blown coverage.......

the optimistic: we still control our own destiny. If not 9-7 might be enough to get us in the playoffs especially with the Dolphins qb situation and the Broncos brutal schedule

Then the blown coverage and safety were "gifted wrapped" too.

Yes. Kind of like the gift wraps our ST gave points away on. That's football, but not any 'special' knowledge needed.

No really. No 'football knowledge' needed on that point.

why we keep kicking the ball for a touchback/out of the endzone anyway, why dont they force teams to run it out like kick short of the 1 yard line , because they will never make it pass the 20 yard line.

I do see you acknowledged some negatives but there were many more negatives than positives.

still a good game. If you wanna talk about how it wasn't even that close then you better get a good look at your team and wonder why you guys only won by 7. Lots of problems that could cost you in the playoffs with the game on the line.

This dude obviously doesn't watch Jimmy play and see the drop off from him to the next DB

It's amazing, before this game we controlled our own destiny to get in the playoffs, and we play like crap. IMO, this game wasn't even close! If we suppose to be a playoff team, we better start playing like it! The Steelers are rolling, so we have to win out! We had a really good chance to make a statement tonight, and blew it! Win or go home from here on out!

Am I the only one that thinks Orr looked like the best LB on our team tonight?

It's a luxury to have Orr on top of having CJ

Awesome quote from Pollard, wonder what we could have done if we kept Reed, Pollard and Boldin around a little longer

Funny thing is people bashing Pollard forget, it was him who laid out Ridley and made him go night night and locked up that game for us to go to the SB.

We still control our own destiny. Win out and were in. Even if we lose to Pittsburg. It's pretty likely Denver loses out. And Miami 2 more loses and were in at 9-7

i remember ray rice fumbling and giving 49ers good field position and then the offence laying an egg and 49ers were back on the field.

we're not even going to the sb if the defence doesnt show out in foxboro - horse before the cart

Lol, I'm not one to unconditionally defend the offense, but when you nearly blow a 28-6 lead that's on the defense, period, even with the fumble.

We still do. Win out and we're in.

Yeah this is prob gonna get negged but Mosley has been non existent all year. After a fantastic rookie season, he's been barely average. Don't know what happened. But dude can't cover, can't tackle and can't react to plays very quickly.
