I'm not his biggest fan,  but Derek Barnett definitely has the Sizzle swagger.

I really like barnett. Hes the most consistent and productive rusher of the bunch. Id be stoked if he falls to us. Natural born leader and a fiert competitor

I'm honestly still surprised that when Pollard, one of the highest flagged guys in the league for his hits, laid out Ridley it didn't draw one. Those days are over guys. Sad as it is.

If anything, that was a penalty on Ridley for lowering his head into the hit. Take a look at the play again, Ridley lowered his helmet into Pollard.

As a player I have concerns but he IS that natural leader with swagger and cockiness (dat a word?) that Sizzle is.

I'm gonna say Orr.  To me, he seems more of a vocal leader than Mosley.

I noticed that too.

i don't see anyone that brings his swagger and leadership on the defense. just feels like we don't have a home grown hof caliber player that can actually back their talk up besides him. none of the young guys have established themselves

lmao, Suggs has Never been the "General" on this team. He Plays at half speed now, Even takes plays off, Just like Ngata use to.

Can't seal the edge, too slow. I was shocked they brought him back this year. When will we get younger at the edges?

This current lack of pass rush has been exposing our week secondary for the last two years now.

With all due respect, Desert, that's why your a rookie on this blog IMHO. T-Sizzle is "The General" on this team. He's Old School. He exemplifies the mental toughness it takes to be a Pro and it is ridiculous that he isn't going to the Pro Bowl. He has lost a step but still has 8 sacks and is playing with a torn biceps. That's kinda like a one-armed wallpaper hanger! Why he even went to Italy and bought a gladiator mask to show that he was "The General"!! That's leadership by example. Yep, he's "The General" all right! On every team, a coach needs an extension of himself on the field. That's what they call a field general. Ask Dean Pees who it is. There are only three candidates for that title on this defense --- T-Sizzle, Weddle and Webb. Well, its not even close. One's a four star general, one's a three-star general and the other is a two-star general. Notice if you will, that all three players are on the defense. So, that raises an interesting question for you to ponder --- that is, does the new General have to be from the defense or can it be an offensive player? Perhaps C. J. Moseley will rise up and assume the role but one thing is for sure --- it won't be a cupcake. Congrats, Matt Elam, on winning the courage award but you won't ever be "The General."

However, there is a solution to every problem. The solution to this problem is simple. If you're really looking for "The General", bring in Coach Bobby Knight. He preaches mental toughness and that's what we need more than anything else right now to win. The talent pool in the NFL is like water --- it seeks its own level and Roger Goodell has achieved the parity he seeks. We have enough talent to defeat Pittsburgh, but will we have the mental toughness to impose our will on them. I know T-Sizzle will.

As a fan of a rival, Suggs is the guy I hate to see step on the field against my team but I think I'll hate hearing that he is retiring even more.  If he were on my team, he would probably be my favorite player.  Since he isn't, he is a guy I like to dislike.  I have a ton of respect for the guy and football fans from every team should tip the cap to him when he hangs it up.  He plays hard...all the damn time.  I have a ton of respect for him and the idea that he is nearing the end is sad.

For me, there are certain players you just hate to see leave the game, like Polamalu, Reed, Bettis, Calvin Johnson, and the like....and when Suggs hangs them up, he falls in that group.

How crazy is it that Suggs and DeMarcus Ware could both hang them up in the next year or so?

When Ray Lewis retired, I had to decide whose jersey to buy. There was some talk back then that T-Sizzle might not be back the next year. I bought a white Suggs Jersey with a Super Bowl patch on it. I'm really glad I did. He really is The Baller or The Brawler from Ball So Hard U. You can bet Ben Rothlisberger knows who "The General" is on our team.

You're right tbh.

But... Suggs has always taken plays off. If we're talking about this year though, Suggs took off the whole Patriots game. He's got eight sacks on the year which is ballin', but he only made one tackle against New England and he didn't record a single statistic against Pittsburgh... Where's he been when it's mattered? He didn't record a state against Miami either, and that was a blowout. He's on the decline big time, and if you can't see he's taking more plays off than ever before, well... smh.

And he ain't never been the "general" of anything. Generals lead. Suggs just talks loud.

If you ask me, Weddle looks like the general right now, which is sad since he's a transplant. People flock to him. They respect him. He made a big mistake against New England but doesn't take plays off. He grinds and he leads.

And Suggs? He's just too busy crawling on all fours wagging his tongue like some kind of man child pretending to be a dog (that actually happened, by the way). He's always liked the attention more than anything.

I knew I wasn't the only one who felt this way. Please understand I appreciate everything Suggs has accomplished in the past. But we still need more consistent play from that position. IMO and that of many others, its time to move on.

I still have not forgotten Suggs showing up to training camp 30 lbs over weight, and out of shape. then using all of preseason and the first half of the season to get in shape. What king of "Veteren Leader" does that BS? Huh?

Torn Achilles injuries are very rarely something players come back from at 100%.

Oh and by the way, to "frozen joe flacco fan" the number of post on this forum has Nothing to do with  comments made here.

What part of "lack of pass rush" don't you understand? Most successful offensives do very well when their quarterback can sit back in the pocket for 7-10 seconds.

The more time it takes our old warhorses to get there means the secondary has to cover longer, They are not doing the job they need to now, so how can they be asked to cover receivers longer?

Elam should not even be on this team, and Webb was too slow to play corner. So how can he be asked to play safety.

What if this is Sizzles last year? Who will take over the as the next General?

We seem to be letting our homegrown talent go the last several years, not signing our own guys to a 2nd contract.

Who will keep "The Ravens Way" going after Suggs is gone?

Some pretty big shoes to fill. Will a void be created? Are we a free agent team now? The drafts have been lean the last several years, what impact will that have in the future?

Sizzle will be back for one more year I believe. I'm hoping Judon and Zadarius take on the pass rushing duties but we may also draft an edge rusher in the upcoming draft. Correa, Correa. Correa please show us you're not Arthur Brown!

Well, the tongue wagging scene was not a good look. I agree. But then again, Ray Lewis always exhorted his teammates and encouraged them to bark and play like dogs, remember? When T-Sizzle went down last year with his 2nd Achilles injury, few realized how much he meant to the team until the season was over. Granted, we had several other injuries to key players but T-Sizzle's injury was IMO the most significant. When "The General" went down, General Confusion took over the defense. Even Steve Bisciotti admitted he didn't realize how much Suggs' injury affected the team chemistry. I've seen him take plays off. I've also seen him take heads off. I've seen him do more of the latter than the former. Go Man-child! Play like a one arm dog tomorrow!!
