[News] Ravens-Patriots Rivalry Is Good, But It's No Steelers

29 posts in this topic

The Ravens and Patriots have matched up four times in the playoffs over the past seven seasons, including twice in the AFC championship. But there’s something different about Ravens-Steelers, say Ravens players.

This rivalry is not like playing against the squeelers but it's up there! Please Joe do not fall for that trick again and throw into over and under coverage! That's why the CB gets up on the WR to bait you like last time! That was the Ravens and Triple " S " Super Bowl and there would not have been no "DEFLATE GATE"! Better "Situational Football" and keep the pedal to the metal! LETS GO!

It would really be nice to have at least one Pats game in Bmore. Seems like they have all the important games in their house. It sure would be nice to wreck their party lol.

If we win the AFC North the Pats will be in Baltimore next year as we are scheduled to play an AFC East team based on finish.

Cowboys will always be my #1 Disliked Team
I don't like that NE has had a relatively easy division all these years that gave the home field advantage... but then again they were good enough to win and the other sucked bad enough to lose... anyway.
Yes. No matter what anyone says. This game has the same resonance as a Squeeler and Raider game, There are not too many out of division rivalry games but that has the history. They should be utilizing in-house media to create weekly 'history' films for players to take home and watch... Nothing extensive... 1/2 to 40 min video... work with coach to develop messages... Going to be a great game...
Go Ravens!!!

I love playing the Patriots as a Ravens fan! It is right up there with Pittsburgh. PS: Suggs is just playing nice to the media. He absolutely hates #12 and refuses to call him by his name.

the difference between the Ravens vs Steelers games and the Ravens vs Patriot games is one is a slug fest, kick their butt, all out war.... the other is more gamesmanship. I'll let you figure which is which.

You know one key player that the Ravens have to stop really effectively is Lagarette Blount. Yes, we are number 1 in rushing defense but if they don't let him run wild by gaining extra yardage for the first down, it would make Tom Brady one dimensional; can't run the football and it would force Brady to make short immediate passes which we could shut down and prepare for. So just don't let him go off gaining extra yardage and just contain him very well. Let Brady do those dink and donk plays because that's what we want.

I think the Steelers/Ravens rivalry is more love/hate, at least in my experience; I enjoy talking smack with my Steelers friends. However, the Patriots rivalry is nothing but hate. You look at Suggs, he at least gives Roethlisberger respect for being a redoubtable opponent; he doesn't even say Brady's actual name lol.

I agree. I wish we were wearing our black unis. Time to come in as mean as possible from start to finish and never look back. I hope there's a lot of hard hitting and intimadting by us. Just no STUPID penalties after the whistle....cough cough- JERNIGAN!!!! unreal he's still making these bonehead plays that hurt the team years into his career. Makes me think he'll never learn

I have a lot of disdain for NE. Most of their success is due to them playing in a historically weak division. I have no doubt they would never have had the same success if they had played in the AFC North.

Seriously. It's so lame. Not only does it enable them to make the playoffs every year but often times sets them up for home field adv. I'll love to hear the anylasts excuses after Monday night. Though I'm sure some of them will come around

I love playing the Squeelers and the rivalry has always been a good one. We're close enough that we can interact with their fans and talk smack back and forth. The Pats however, is more of a hate/hate relationship for me. I absolutely hate Tom Brady and his attitude. One of those "better than everyone else" Boston attitudes. He complains to the refs when things don't go his way (I'm reminded of Tanya Harding's' Olympic skating fiasco, to date myself a little). The cheating, lying and deception they rely on to win games is teetering on blasphemy to the NFL IMHO.
If it were me, and I'm glad it isn't, I'd take 2 PS players (and the penalty and possibly the ejection), one to hold him up and the other to smack Brady so hard in the chest, he doesn't get up for a week (Down on their own 5yd line or something of course!) and he's the only player I would ever think of doing that to. I'd love to have Brady fake having the flu every time he knew we were coming to town to get out of playing us.

Beating Pitts is like beating your brother in something but beating the Patriots is like beating a bullies down the street.

If Ravens win the division they should play New England here but 2019 Pats will definitely be hear and Brady will be 41.

Raiders need to win tonight to keep New England going to the Black Hole to possibly play. If Raiders lose it might give even more motivation to win Monday for home field.

I have to say that the patriots rivalry, for me, is the more exciting of the two mostly because I really hate Brady & Belicheat and have a begrudging respect for the Steelers. Ravens and Steelers play each other hard and don't really talk too bad about each other much. My friends who are Steelers fans also have a begrudging respect for the ravens now because the two are undoubtedly on par. Patriots fans, tho', are still arrogant to the core and even after the defeats by Bmore, they still act like THEY got cheated. Our match ups with brady & Co are reaching the Manning/Brady levels now because of the post season implications.

I still remember when the Titans and Jaguars were our main rivals. Things come and go.

Yeah, that Eddie George vs Ray Lewis rivalry was the best RB/LB rivalry since Bo vs. Boz. Ray taking the ball from him in the play-offs was classic.

In September of 2000, second game of the season, Ravens vs. Jags, I told my friends, "Whoever wins this game will win the Superbowl!"

Only time I've ever been right in my life!  :34853_angel:
